Absolutely Amazing Excursion with Roatán Breakaway Tours

Thank you Otanie and Roatan Breakaway Tours for an absolutely amazing experience! We would highly recommend this excursion to anyone visiting Roatán. From the moment we booked, the company was extremely attentive and communicative. They sent us detailed messages ahead of time explaining exactly where to meet them after getting off our cruise ship, which made finding our guide on excursion day much easier. Our driver and guide, Otanie, was wonderful! She is from Roatán and was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating throughout the entire day. As we drove around the island, she shared interesting information about Roatán, its culture, and life on the island. Having a local guide made the experience feel much more personal. We really enjoyed talking with her and learning more about this beautiful place. Our first stop was AJ's Monkeys and Sloths where we were able to see and interact with animals up close and take so many great pictures. Afterward, we headed to Brady's Cay, which was beautiful and incredibly relaxing. It was such a memorable experience. What also made this tour stand out was how accommodating and personalized it felt. When we were ready to leave, we asked Otanie if we could stop at a convenience store before returning to the cruise port. She was more than happy to help us find what we needed and never made us feel rushed. At the same time, she made sure we were back at the cruise port with plenty of time to board our ship, which gave us peace of mind throughout the day. An Awesome Excursion for an Awesome Price!

Our excursion guide and driver, Shona, was magnificent! She was very friendly and informative when it came to Roatan’s history and way of life on the island. The company we booked with is mainly all family members so they care a TON about their guests. The pick up process seemed a little confusing at first, but they send you detailed instructions on where the pick-up point will be so don’t fret if you have similar worries. We started the trip at the sloth, monkey, and bird sanctuary and it was so fun! The workers there take excellent care of the animals and let you interact, but not “touch”, them as they sit on your head/shoulder so you’ll be able to get some awesome pictures. Next up came the beach. The beach itself was BEAUTIFUL! The water crystal clear and refreshing. We hadn’t previously planned on any activities other than just chilling soaking up some sunshine, but there were many great activities you could book when you get there such as jet skis, scuba diving, snorkeling, and more. My wife and I went with snorkeling and it was a 10/10 experience. Saw so many cool fish, coral, and reef life. When it came time to head back to the ship, Shona let us stop at a few local gift shops and points of interest to get some fun pictures. The drop off back at the cruise port was smooth and efficient. If you’re cruising with Carnival and want to know how to spend your time on Roatan? Book this excursion. For what you pay, it’s an awesome deal and it allows you to see just a glimpse of what the island life has to offer. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip so far!

Roatan Exceeded Our Expectations!

Our family took a shore excursion the previous day at another port that didn’t quite live up to our expectations. So we went into our day in Roatan with somewhat tempered expectations. Roatan Tucan Adventures quickly changed that. From the start, everything was easy. The directions for meeting our tour were clear, and even along the way, friendly locals helped point us in the right direction. Our tour guide, Tania, was fantastic. As we traveled around Roatan, she gave us a lot of interesting background and perspective about the island, its people and culture. She was incredibly knowledgeable, welcomed all of our questions and made the experience feel personal. We felt like we were actually getting to know a little bit about Roatan rather than simply being driven from one tourist attraction to another. One of our stops was at the eco park, where we were able to interact with monkeys, macaws and sloths and get some great pictures. We also visited the chocolate factory and rum company, which were both interesting, fun and, of course, tasty! We enjoyed them enough that we bought a few things to bring home with us. Our stop at West Bay Beach was another highlight. We had time to swim and enjoy the beautiful water while also watching some very creative local entrepreneurs making and selling drinks right from their kayaks in the ocean. We got a kick out of discovering that, yes, they even accept Apple Pay! Everything about the excursion exceeded our expectations. Tania was absolutely lovely and took great care of our family throughout the entire experience. She was friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely seemed to enjoy sharing her island with us. What started as a day we weren’t quite sure what to expect from ended up being one of the highlights of our cruise. We had a great time, learned a lot about Roatan and made some wonderful memories along the way. We highly recommend Roatan Tucan Adventures, and if you’re lucky enough to have Tania as your guide, you’re in great hands!

Great time in Roatan

My family had a great time with Jiml. He was knowledgeable about the area, friendly and kept us on ships time! I would prefer not doing the chocolate tasting to have more beach time. It's really just a small chocolate store, but otherwise a good experience. I recommend.

Helped us fall in love with Roatan

We had a wonderful day with our driver JJ. He told us about the areas we drove through and answered our numerous questions. The sloth, monkey and Macaw interaction at AJ's animal sanctuary along with our guide Dylan were the highlights of our entire vacation for our whole family. Everyone enjoyed the atvs as well and they were even kind enough to have one of the guides stay behind the group with me, the slow driver. We enjoyed delicious chocolate and purchased some amazing chocolate ice cream bars at the shop. It was a wonderful day and our family fell in love with Roatan on this great day.

Good choice.

We had a great day at a beautiful beach. Carlos was friendly and got us to the beach club quickly and safely. He gave us a quick “lay of the land” and helped us get set up with our beach chairs. He also offered to help with the beach vendors if we wanted anything. He waited at the beach club for us and was ready to go when we were. The beach and water were beautiful. Would book the same thing again if we ever cruise to Roatan again.

Amazing Mother-Daughter Experience—Safe, Personal, and Unforgettable!

My teenage daughter and I had a wonderful experience on the Monkey, Sloth, and Drift Snorkel Tour in Roatán! It was just the two of us, and we felt completely safe and comfortable throughout the entire excursion. Meeting our guide just outside the cruise port was easy, and we had our own private driver. He was courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable. Our guide at the monkey and sloth sanctuary was amazing—welcoming, informative, and patient. He answered all our questions and made sure we each had plenty of time interacting with the animals. Our snorkeling guide was also wonderful. He explained everything clearly and helped ease any anxiety we had about snorkeling in the ocean, making us feel safe and confident. The entire experience was well organized, personal, and enjoyable from beginning to end. My daughter and I made incredible memories, and I would absolutely recommend this tour—especially to mothers traveling alone with their children or teenagers!

Best day ever. Book this tour!

Oh my god. This whole day was the best day ever. The zip lining was unreal. The staff was so helpful and fun. Having monkeys jump and climb all over you was the coolest thing ever. Then the snorkeling was so friggin cool. We got to relax at the beach after and then check out the chocolate tasting on the way back. Every tour guide was amazing. David our host was so accommodating.

Incredible Island tour

Vincent was a fantastic, energetic tour guide. He provided us with a complete tour of the island, which we loved. We had plenty of opportunities for photos. We were able to interact with macaws and capuchin monkeys as well as several sloths. Although we weren’t able to hold the sloths, we were able to get really close and take photos with them. We then went to a chocolate factory and learned about the process from cocoa pods to chocolate bars. The chocolate was so good and we purchased mini bars in a variety of flavors. Our next stop was a rum factory for rum tasting. I wasn’t a fan of the rum, but it was a beautiful place which had what I considered to be one of the best views in all of Roatan. Vincent ended our tour with photos in front of the iconic Roatan sign. I highly recommend this tour and request Vincent!

Perfect for a family

This was a fantastic experience for my 10 year old daughter and I. Would HIGHLY recommend. It was a little chaotic finding where to meet once we got off the ship. But, the people there are so friendly and helpful. All I had to do was tell them the company I booked with and they pointed me in the right direction. Our Guide Kenson was so kind. He walked us to check in at the office. It’s a short walk but he made sure we were safe. Once we arrived we signed our waivers and put into our harness. The guides on the zip line were so fun and encouraging. They could tell my daughter and I were nervous but they made sure we had fun. There was a photographer taking pictures that you have the option of purchasing at the end. It was inexpensive and the pictures were fantastic! I was highly recommend doing that vs trying to take your own pictures. After the zip lining we got to see the animals. I’f you have kids I would recommend this excursion. It took about an hour and a half so we still had the whole day to shop and swim!
