The tour departs from the cruise terminal in the direction of Savoca (approximately 40 minutes by road). Savoca is the town where the film The Godfather was filmed. We will see all the most iconic places such as the Vitelli bar and the cathedral where Michael Corleone got married. After about an hour we leave to go to Castelmola (about 30 minutes from Savoca). Castelmola is a small village on the top of Taormina with a wonderful view of Mount Etna. After about an hour we move to Taormina, one of the most beautiful cities in Italy, reachable only on foot and full of shops and restaurants. After about 2 or 3 hours we return to Messina, but not before a nice panoramic tour of Isola Bella. As a last stop, we will visit the Sanctuary of Christ the King, a panoramic point over the Strait of Messina, and the Duomo cathedral, where you can admire the largest astronomical clock in Europe. Wonderful tour with Mariarita

This was a really fun and informative tour led by Mariarita who had a great sense of humor and gave of a lot of tips on foods to try and things to look out for in each port. The communication was excellent as well. We were on a cruise ship and made it to the stops and back to the ship in plenty of time, but do be prepared for a bit of drive to get to the destinations. Thankfully, great AC on the bus, which was especially welcome on a hot summer day.

Great cruise excursion!

Our family had a great time on this group tour to Taormina and Castelmola! We were traveling with our two kids, ages 10 and 13, and everyone really enjoyed the day. Taormina was beautiful, with so many great views, charming streets, shops, and places to explore. We also loved visiting Castelmola. The views from the top were incredible and definitely worth the trip up! The tour gave us a nice amount of time to walk around, take pictures, grab something to eat, and enjoy both towns without feeling too rushed but also not too much time that the kids were bored. It was a fun and easy way to see two beautiful places while visiting Sicily, and we were glad we chose this tour. We would definitely recommend it to other families!

Great immersive experience

This is a great way to immerse yourself in Italian culture. Stephani taught me how to make Tiramisu and pasta from scratch and the family participated. The daughter was the interpreter. This tour was a great find in Messina and the surrounding areas! Taormina blew us away! Carmelo was fantastic!

This excursion is a GREAT option if you dock in Messina. Carmelo, our driver, was excellent. The van was well air conditioned and comfortable. Taormina is a short 45 minute drive and was absolutely amazing quaint town. Great shops, restaurants and cafes. Lots of natural shade and cool breezes. Afterwards we went to isola Bella which was also beautiful. If you have time and desire I strongly encourage bring bathing suit so you can go in the water. Restaurants were also amazing.

The Perfect Taormina Day

Paria and Alberto were terrific. The tour was beautiful and interesting with just the right balance of guiding and having time on your own. Taormina is beautiful and well worth the trip, especially the Greek theater and views of Mt Etna, Taormina and Ionian Sea. An added bonus of stopping in Castelmola was great, and we sampled the perfect cannoli. We were there in January so crowds were low and weather was cool and breezy. That's our sweet spot for travel. Alberto's kind personality and Paria's bubbly enthusiasm were the icing on the cake.

This tour was professionally handled in a great manner. From pre trip communication to meeting at the port to the tour and drop off back at port, this was a great experience. Lilllo was early to pick us up ( we were early too as the pick up was right as we disembarked!). He shared historical, cultural and fun information as we went along the tour. Due to weather, the itinerary was adjusted and we visited unexpected places for a fun treat. He gave us choices and ample time to explore Taormina and Castlemola with a view of Isola Bella. He pointed out fun facts and locations about White Lotus and The Godfather. We chose not to go to the beach because of rain. Transportation was totally comfortable and, on the return to Messina, we were treated with REAL gelato and cannoli’s. The church there was spectacular inside. Our group of 7 had a great experience and much thanks to Lillo for taking us around and teaching us about this lovely place.
