Begin your shore excursion with pick-up near the Messina cruise port (the precise pick-up location will be determined ahead of the tour). Climb into a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle and enjoy the scenery along the drive toward Taormina.
Visit the ruins of the Greek Theater, built in the 3rd century BC by the ancient Romans and still in use today for periodic concerts and other performances. See the cathedral and the Palazzo Corvaja. Soak in the gorgeous views of sights like the picturesque Giardini Naxos Bay and the imposing figure of Mt. Etna.
Enjoy about 2 hours of free time in Taormina to explore at your own pace. Meet at the appointed location to get back into the vehicle for the return trip to Messina.

Good experience, very interesting cometary, lots of history and explanation of local culture both past and the not so past! The day got quite wet which changed our plans a little, we enjoyed our lunch and walking around the town
Great your! Our guide, Michael, was funny and shared Great stories. He knew a lot about the area and gave us great recommendations for food and snacks.
Taormina was beautiful. We had 3 hours on our own. I thought would be too long, but it was perfect! Sam was a great tour guide!
Michael picked us up on time and drove us to Taormina He was very informative. Taormina was just beautiful.
Our tour guide Michael was great. He was very informative and friendly. He explained the area and it's history well. We had free time to explore on our own. It was a good pace of sightseeing without being rushed. Michael was very courteous to us and also patient to wait for another couple that was supposed to join us, but never showed up. We highly recommend Viator, their tours are worth it and their guides are professional and great.
It’s a lot of walking in Taiormina if you want to check a lot of it out. Could spend a while day there! Sam the tour guy is so kind and knowledgeable he did a fantastic job. Castelmola was an added stop and so quaint and beautiful.
We enjoyed the excursion since it was a small group, vehicle was nice and air conditioned, stops were beautiful, guide and driver were wonderful.
This was a fun shared tour on a mini bus. Our guide Michael was funny and informative, keeping us interested while the switchbacks took us up up up the hills to beautiful Taormina. Great shopping and food awaited us there. One more stop at Castelmora for almond wine and we were back in Messina.
One tip, keep your eyes open for your name on a paper sign being held by the guild. The instructions for finding the group didn't 100% match the reality when you walked off the ship. We found them no problem, you just want to be alert.
Very informative with just the right amount of time. The driver (Michael) was good fun and very knowledgeable. Very picturesque with excellent views of Mount Etna. There are lots of bars and cafes with shopping to be done. Taormina is definitely somewhere to visit.
Nice comfortable excursion, in an air conditioned minivan. There were only 6 in our group. Beautiful scenery. Loads of information, by our young enthusiastic guide. We had plenty of free time to explore in Toarmina.
Excellent insight into the history of Croatia, Split and Guide had a fantastic knowledge , Trogir was a nice spot to visit and Diocletians Palace was excellent to see around.
Our guide Chris was remarkable! His knowledge was overwhelming. We stopped in two towns, views and scenery were stunning
We had a great time, easy to find driver and transportation was comfortable. Our driver was very infoemative on ride. We had about 2.5 hours to explore on own once we were dropped off.
We went early which was good if you want a photo with two domes. Personally there are many great photo places I wouldn’t wait in line longer than 30. We also had time to go to the ruins and have a lovely lunch.
Drop off is in Fira and we had more time to explore and shop.
Shopping was great and traveling to get there was fantastic lot of walking so many restaurants to eat and very colorful shops
Although not a long tour it gave the essence of the island. Our driver was knowledgeable and helpful. He even spotted us 2euro to use the lift back to the port.
My husband and I both really like Viator, we’ve never been disappointed and this was no exception. Both Sam, our guide and our driver were excellent. Sam was very knowledgeable and friendly and I believe that the tour we took was
one of the best we’ve ever had.
Michael did a great job explaining about what life is like in Sicily while we were driving to Taormina. Told us about a cathedral and a park we should visit and we did and were very happy. On the way back, he showed us a beautiful vista where the ferrys go back-and-forth between the mainland and Sicily. And also told us where to get the best cannolis in Sicily. Would definitely recommend
Our guide Mike was very knowledgeable about the area and made the trip very enjoyable. Would recommend a bigger van as we sat three to a seat. No elbow room. Overall would recommend.

Our half-day Taormina tour was excellent! Our guide, Erika, was an excellent source of knowledge on the bus ride from Messina port to Taormina. She was punctual and friendly, and the tour was well-managed time-wise with good activity and food recommendations! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We went on our tour today, with our guide Michael. He was a wealth of information, told us a lot of interesting stories about the history and culture of Messina, Taormina and Sicily in general. We both thoroughly enjoyed the trip, and it was also lovely to have some time on our own to explore! Thank you Michael for a wonderful experience!
Our day with Michael was perfect! Michael is an excellent guide that we highly recommend. Comfortable van and he discussed the local sites while driving. We could all hear and understand him nicely:) We especially enjoyed the small village of Castelmola. 5 stars! ⭐️ Wendi & Wade
Castelmola was most memorable but everything was a close second! The views and the structures were truly breath taking! The guide (Chris) was EXCELLENT! So knowledgeable and clear. The driver was great and the bus seemed new - very comfortable and air conditioned. Can't rave enough about this tour. May have been the best tour of our trip.
These locations are very pretty and it was nice to visit however I do think the tour was quite highly priced as it basically was just a bus ride there and back. Tour guide was nice but overall we didn't learn a ton of information.
Tour was fine but the miscommunication about the start time was terrible. We got email saying 9:30 and arrived at 9:15. Entire rest of the the bus was told 8am. They were all angry at us! Tour guide refused to explain the mix up.

Thank you very much for your feedback. "Tour was fine" that is what is extremely important for us. The rest of review is false and we don't know why. We sent pickup time for all at 09:30 AM. Absolutely no reason to send other people a different pickup time. Viator can verify our version because they can access to our messages. We have no words, you didn't speak with the guide and we still don't understand your review. Maybe is wrote in the wrong tour.
The views were breathtaking, Michelle, the tour guide knowledgeable and the bus driver professional!

Let me preface this by saying, we really enjoyed the town of Taormina and would recommend seeing it. HOWEVER, we were expecting a tour there as indicated by the title. Our tour guide spoke a little about Messina and Sicily in general as we drove from the port to Taormina. Once we arrived, he just dropped us off, told us to meet back in 3 hours and disappeared. We had NO tour in Taormina and just had to wander the town on our own. Therefore we did not need 3 hours for this. Very disappointing.

HOWEVER you just stoppe to read the title of service booked by you.
The guide did the job wrote in the voucher. Wrote in the description you missed to read.
You just had NO tour because is wrote in the voucher.
What we say is easy recognizable on the website and can be read by anybody.
Really unfair a bad review because we just did our job.
We are very disappointing.
We warm hope that you read again the voucher and remove this review.

They moved the time up by 5 hours with very little notification. We missed the tour because of this and they refused to refund us. We had to pay another driver to bring us to Taormina. Use the local taxi's just outside the port.
