This is a Levada walk whose beauty amazes us all along the trail. We start at the Queimadas guest house, heading west through dense, emerald green vegetation that leads us to Caldeirão Verde. Along the Levada, the landscapes are spectacular, we are surprised by beautiful villages at the foot of the valleys, by a waterfall, and by tunnels that we must cross, until we finally reach the majestic waterfall of Caldeirão Verde. After a short rest and picnic break, we begin our return journey. More than just a walk, it’s a passage through Madeira’s most hidden landscapes.

Experience one of Madeira’s most memorable sunsets with this great-value shared transfer to Pico do Arieiro, one of the island’s most breathtaking mountain viewpoints. This option uses fixed meeting points only, with no hotel pickup or drop-off included. If trail access is open and conditions allow, you may choose to do the optional self-guided Stairway to Heaven walk. The walk is approximately 2.4 km in total and is not guided, so suitable footwear and care on the trail are recommended. We normally go to Pico do Arieiro, but if weather or visibility conditions are not favourable, an alternative viewpoint may be used to provide the best possible sunset experience. Please bring warm clothing, as summit temperatures can be much lower than in Funchal. Toilet facilities may be limited. Return departure is around 30 minutes after sunset.

Here you will have time to take photographs, with a little free time to admire the beautiful scenic views from this quaint fishing village. Your next stop will be Cabo Girao, the dizzy heights of this sea cliff village will give you wonderful views of the Southern coast from Cabo Girao. Be brave and try out the suspended glass platform (skywalk) or if that is too scary, have fun watching the para-gliders and base jumpers jump off the top of the cliff as they also use this unique spot as a starting point. There is also a little free time to take in a coffee, or souvenir shop. Throughout the journey your driver will be on hand pointing out the wide variety of vegetation, flowers and fauna.
