Levee is an absolutely outstanding guide! He is very personable, knowledgeable, and has a passion for the topic of the Battle of the Bulge. We were able to see things and hear personal, real life stories that added meaning and understanding to this phase of the war. Plus, we saw the town of Dinant on the Meuse, which was a true gem. We would not have had this amazing of an experience if we were on our own or with a guide who just gave us memorized facts. My wife and I very highly recommend this tour. While expensive, we found it worth every dollar!

A Must See Tour!
Did not know what to expect from this tour but it was by far our favorite experience during our trip to Brussels! If you are a WWII buff, or just have an interest in the subject, you MUST book this tour with Martin King! It’s like taking an interactive history class with your favorite professor! He has written 17 books on the subject and won Emmy Awards for his documentary on a little known Congo born black nurse from Bastogne who heroically served at a US aid station during the Battle of the Bulge. Because he has done so much research on WWII and has interviewed so many survivors (Belgian, American and German), his stories are endlessly fascinating. We could have listened to him all day! This is a MUST if you have any interest in WWII history, especially Battle of the Bulge! (Note: Dr King only gives this tour on Saturdays. Book accordingly, you won’t regret it!)

Bastogne from Brussels Day Trip
Long car ride from Brussels, but worth it to experience Bastogne. Our guide, Regis, was extremely pleasant and very knowledgeable and our driver, Joyce, was outstanding. Bastogne War Museum was one of the best WWII museums we’ve seen. Very immersive and with a unique feature—the audio guide had the experiences of a school teacher from Bastogne, a 14 year old boy from Bastogne, a German officer, and a US paratrooper narrate your journey through the museum. We learned that the boy, Emile, is still alive and lives in Bastogne. The high point was a visit to the Bois Jacques to see the paratroopers’ foxholes. The final stop was to the Bastogne War Rooms where General McAulliffe composed his response to the German commander’s surrender ultimatum. Very impactful. The drive back to Brussels was long, almost 3 hours due to accidents, construction, rain, and Sunday evening traffic. Well worth the trip though.

The guide, Diedrick...
The guide, Diedrick (sp?), had an encyclopedic knowledge of the battles and military life in Flamders during The Great War. We visited battlefields, monuments, and cemeteries as he recounted the history and pointed out relevant topography. The Flanders Museum in Ypres was excellent, and we found excellent restaurants for lunch and supper in Ypres.
