Overview

September 5 Bike Ride to a Wine Tasting! It was my 73rd birthday, and a perfect way to spend it! The e-bikes were very easy to manage and almost "go by themselves". Felix, our leader, skillfully, though too rapidly, led us through the city to the path by the Danube -- a different part of Vienna than the Imperial grandeur or carefully flower-embroidered parks. It was a beautiful day, so the river reflected it, and we enjoyed seeing people enjoying it! This is not a tour for stopping to take pictures while riding, however, you will not forget seeing imposing lions on a bridge, the very futuristic waste-recycling tower with an artistic golden ball, or at the beginning, whimsical sculptures. The highpoint was to arrive at Klosterneuberg and the amazing Abbey in all its baroque splendor! We had a wonderful knowledgeable local guide, (not Felix as he knows virtually nothing of Klosterneuburg) , who explained how it had been slated to be an Imperial Summer Palace, hence the grandiosity, but was never finished and given to the Augustinian Friars, There are good panels in English which explain more about the religious order. Our guide took us through the three levels of cellars explaining the process of wine-making and different types of barrels and barriques which was supplemented by a short film we enjoyed with our first of 3 wines, an excellent Grüner Veltliner. Followed by another white, Zierfandler Rotgipfler and then a red. Coming up the steps was a Herman Hesse poem, "Stufen" (Steps) which addresses the steps we take in life, the changes that occur and how to deal with them. Afterwards, a quick look at the splendid gardens and magnificent church, then a return to Vienna down the island that splits the Danube. Our convivial group of 12 was headed up in the back by Moritz, to be sure no one left behind. My guess is, the common denominator of loving bikes and respecting wines is strong enough to bring out the best in everyone. Thank you Felix and Moritz!

Must be experienced very fast riding through the main city traffic , if you haven’t ridden a bike for a while don’t do this !

Best Bike Tour!

Ata was an excellent guide. He made sure everyone safely navigated the city bike lanes and the countryside bike paths. He was friendly and very knowledgeable about Vienna and the sites seen to and from the Abby. The tour took us from city center, along the Danube river to a small town called Klotsterneuburg where we toured the winery Abby and tasted the delicious wine produced on site. I enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the fun of exploring on bikes. Exceptional excursion!

The bike ride was very enjoyable, all reasonably flat, no previous biking experience is necessary , Simon our guide was excellent, weather was a bit inclement, but that did not detract from the overall experience. The wine tour was very good.some lovely wine.

Our group of 6 loved our 4 hr E bike wine tour with Cedric! The actual bike tour was awesome and picturesque on the E bike but had a few hairy turns on some bridges. The bike traffic was very busy and fast but Cedric took great care of us. There was a Medieval Ages Fair going on at the Monastery which was interesting to view. The only negative was the actual wine tasting itself. The monastery was amazing and the woman giving our tour was great but we only had 3 very small tastings of wine. There were about 6 bottles out on a table but we got 1 white and 2 reds. she kept telling us about the wine variety they were known for but we never got to taste it. Cedric stopped at a side walk cafe on the bike path so we could get some lunch; best cheese sausage we've all had! Plus the refreshing Vienna beer was tasty too.

Unique winery tour

The bike ride was good but could have used a couple stops to discuss the attractions along the route. The visit to the abbey's wine cellar was excellent. Going so far underground to see the operation was worth the trip.

Amazing views, great guide, and lots of fun cycling. The e-bikes are so enjoyable on our total 33km ride. Our guide was knowledgeable, cautious, and fun! He gave us lots of breaks where we were able to ask lots of questions and find some common interests. Would definitely do this again if returning to Vienna. It is so easy to get around the city on bike.

This tour was amazing! The bike ride was longer than I expected, but it was so fun to ride along the Danube river. We were brought to a historic spot and were given a tour around the winery. The history was interesting and it was fun to go underground to learn the process. Even if you don’t like wine, the tour was worth it for the bike ride and views we saw. I would definitely recommend.

Con sus buenas explicaciones te hace ponerte en contexto de la situación histórica de la zona como si fueras un local de la zona. Las bicicletas que proporciona la empresa son de una excelente calidad, las cuales son perfectas para terminar la ruta sin estar agotados. Las explicaciones vinícolas fueron super interesantes y entretenidas, así como el pueblo que rodea el monasterio. Es algo que todo el mundo tiene que vivir alguna vez en la vida.
