Dieter was an excellent guide. Clear, concise, knowledgeable. He gave interesting
Information and historical insights. Group size is kept small, so no need for ear buds.

I was really looking forward to this tour, and it ended up being even better and more insightful than I expected. The tour guide — Sigfroyd? (I know that’s close, but not quite right) — was incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely passionate, which made everything she said carry much more weight.
I’m in Europe for three weeks on vacation, and this was easily my favorite tour so far. People should know and understand the truth about this horrific period in history.
In my opinion, far too many people casually throw around words like “Nazi” and “Hitler” as if they are simple insults. They are not. Those words represent some of the darkest and most horrific events in human history and should never be used lightly, especially in my country, the US.
Again, this was a first-class tour. Thank you very much.

An excellent walking tour of the sites and activities associated with Hitler’s youth and rise to power. Dieter, our guide who is also a historian, was one of the best such guides we have ever encountered. He is obviously deeply immersed in the era’s history as he had thoughtful and comprehensive answers to all questions from our group. The pace was perfect for our group of 25 persons, and Dieter’s presentation was thorough and balanced. Highly recommended for those interested in such a tour.
PaulF_Z, May 2026
Guide Dieter was excellent. A historian and journalist he brought to life the times Hitler spent in Vienna.
Do bring an umbrella if rain is threatening.
Beverly_G, May 2026

Wolfgang was the tour guide. He was amazing. We listened for 2.5 hours as he detailed the disturbing history of Austria. His knowledge and his ability to communicate was exceptional. The time disappeared quickly. Thank you!!
HEIDI_D, Apr 2026

The guide, Dieter, was very knowledgeable, sharing interesting insights along the way and making the whole experience truly outstanding. Highly recommended. A really enjoyable walking tour led by a caring and attentive guide who was constantly checking in with the group, making sure everyone could hear, and keeping a comfortable pace. They also gave clear instructions on road safety throughout, which made the experience feel well-organized and stress-free.

This is a fascinating walk. The historical significance of Vienna was extremely interesting. This was helped immensely by our guide, Dieter, who was brilliant. His enthusiasm, clarity and knowledge of the subject was enthralling. 10 out of 10 for this walk and I would recommend it to anyone.

Deter our tour guide was fabulous. His historical knowledge was amazing. He had the whole group engaged in the tour from start to finish. He took us to all the historic places and pointed out all the points of interest. Such an interesting activity.

We couldn't finish the tour as we were pressed for time and it was such a shame. Wolfgang really knew his stuff! Just wished we could have entered the monuments.
Kari_B, Mar 2026
Sigi was an amazing guide. She took us through Vienna telling us stories about our stops along the way and the roll that Viennese people played in World War II. I learned so much from what she shared with us, connecting the dots with our Mounthausen Tour. She was kind, respectful to the history and a wonderful story teller.
Austin_C, Mar 2026
Siggi was our tour guide and she was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about history! She gave a ton of information about locations we were visiting and even had pictures and maps with her to show us for additional context. The tour covered aspects of Hitler's time and influence in Vienna as well as Austrian history pertaining to the country itself and WW2. Highly recommend this tour!
Keith_W, Mar 2026

What an awesome experience. The guide Wolfgang was great throughout the whole thing. His english is very good and I loved that he had the voice headsets to use during the tour so everyone in the group could hear him without any issue. There is a good mix of information including local buildings and areas around the tour area and he was always happy to answer any additional questions. You can tell he is not only very knowledgeable but also very passionate about what is he talking about the whole time. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone!

We enjoyed our tour last week with Siggy. She was quite informative and interactive with the group as she encouraged the group to ask questions the whole way. Such interesting historical stories. The 2.5 hour length passed quite quickly with such interesting material shared
Abby_S, Mar 2026
Our tour guide, Deter, was made for this job. He was so nice, very knowledgeable and included some personal side stories and pictures to tie things together. Plenty of walking but it was a good pace. We were a part of a bigger group (28ish?) but had no problems hearing the guide because we had headphones while he had a speaker.
Jackie_G, Mar 2026
Very informative, Wolfgang, our guide was very passionate and knowledgeable. Able to hear via ear piece.

It’s NOT focused on Hitler. It has interesting information, but the tour is very mis-named. Good guide.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Dear Tim,
Thank you for your feedback!
The tour is inspired by the book “Hitler’s Vienna” by Austrian historian Brigitte Hamann and focuses on the historical and social context of Vienna at the turn of the 20th century, including the environment in which Hitler lived. All tour stops and themes are clearly listed in the description before booking.
We’re nevertheless glad to hear you found the guide good and the information interesting!
