We had a great time! The guides were kind, the dogs were well behaved and it was enough time out sledding with the dogs to have fun. The fish soup was SO delicious! I had low expectations, but honestly, it was amazing.

Fantastic, the people who organise this trip were so attentive to everyone’s needs, the dogs were so friendly and to experience mushing for a good 90mins was absolutely brilliant

What an amazing experience!!
Firstly, the most important thing with this activity is the dogs. It was stressed to us during the briefing that happy people mean happy dogs, shown how to pet the dogs, how to make sure they were safe etc. When we got to the dog farm, each dog had their own kennel, with space around it and looked well cared for.
The briefing was very comprehensive and Anna made sure everyone was clear on what they needed to do. Thermal suits, gloves etc were all available, and once suited up we headed to the dog farm and met our dog team with strict instructions to cuddle and make sure we were comfortable before we headed out.
The scenery around Tromso Husky was spectacular and we were soon wizzing along.
When we got back to the Husky Farm we spent more time with the dogs before heading back to the base camp, and having hot drinks and soup.
As well as being a great experience to do, this trip was so well organised, and ran by lovely people who obviously care a great deal about the dogs.

This is something I have always wanted to do, and it did not disappoint! Amazing adventure, sweet dogs, and quite the workout! The soup at the end was amazing and the staff were nice and knowledgeable!

This was an absolute dream come true! From the very start we were looked after so well with instructions on how to man & drive the sled, and the snowsuits, boots & gloves were all superb.
The husky dogs though were an absolute dream - lovely & friendly & the experience itself was just amazing & I loved every single second.
So much adrenaline through a beautiful and stunning wilderness. Literally couldn’t have been any better.
The hot soup afterwards was delicious too.
I wish I could come and do this again!

Best birthday ever! Such a fun day!
The welcome and instruction briefing was great, not too serious (the Norwegians have a fabulous sense of humour) but got the important information across.
Once you are suited and booted, its a short trip over to where the dogs are waiting. You can tell they enjoy what they do - they were all super eager to get going!
The ride itself was amazing - stunning views, interesting course (you do have to help the dogs out a few times with some hills!) and you swap between being the driver and the passenger a few times throughout.
After the ride you get to spend time with all the dogs - most were super soft and lapped up the attention (there were one or two more introverted dogs who were happy to run but not overly fussed about having attention afterwards)
NOTE: if you plan on giving lots of attention to the dogs, borrow some gloves from the host - they are outdoor dogs and have the typical outdoor dog smell, which my gloves then smelt of for the rest of my trip haha
Topped off with some super tasty soup and bread to warm up again - we had seconds it was that good!
Would 100% do again!

The experience was beautiful, towing the sled immersed in a beautiful landscape is priceless and leaves you speechless.
It felt like being on another planet and the dogs were overjoyed and couldn't wait to run. The most beautiful experience made here in Tromso!

Absolutely fantastic experience. Make sure you have a go at driving the sled. It’s awesome. Lovely safe experience and even though it was -22 it was comfortable. Soup and bread afterwards. Even the scenery on the bus ride is beautiful and the whole
Thing is magical.

Wow! It sounds like you really enjoyed the tour and had an amazing time with the dogs, despite the freezing temperatures. This is why we always recommend dressing warmly, as Arctic weather is so unpredictable! :)) Thank you for sharing your magical experience with us! Best regards, Best Arctic
richard_s, Jan 2026
It was a balmy -8 Fahrenheit when we got on the sled. They provided warm thermal outerwear, gloves, boots and enough fun to ignore the cold. It was a delightful, exciting and fun experience

I was struggling to figure out if I should do this or not. I was worried it was “abuse” to the dogs. I’m so glad I booked this! It was the most ORGANIZED your I have beee been on. Easy location to meet and they take you on a bus. Everything is well timed and the experience was amazing. They give you great easy instructions and anyone can drive the sleigh! The dogs were loving every minute of it and they could have gone all night! The guides are great and Lisa our guide was the best! YOU CANT MISS THIS!!!

The dog sledding was one of the highlights of our trip. Amazing!! You get great instructions on how to drive the sled, you ride through beautiful arctic landscapes, and then regroup hot soup and tea, coffee, or hot chocolate. The operation is top notch!! Highly recommended. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Incredible. Such an experience. The dogs were super friendly and lovely. The staff were so friendly and trusting. Amazing day, and the dogs seemed to have so much fun too. They really trust you with the sled to guide and control yourself. And the dogs are so well trained. So cool.

My wife describes this as warm and Fuzzy. It's an activituy that she wanted to do again even during the same trip.
It was very well coordinated. The guide was superhelpfull. This is an activity that requires your actual participation to be sure that you take care of the dogs.
Dress Warmly, Use mittens and snow pants. The can loan you stuff if you need it like sweatres, mittens or buffs.
Sara_M, Dec 2025
Great tour, with lovely dogs, and an even better staff who were extremely knowledgeable and safe and gave us great confidence, the only advice I would give you is to be very careful about where you step especially if you go pet the dogs near their houses otherwise you’ll be tracking poop and pee on your boots and if they give you the opportunity to wear their boots, do it… Take my advice you’ll thank me later

On December 19, 2025, my spouse and I participated in a self-drive dog sledding activity.
Before the activity, only a few minutes of basic information were given verbally, and we started immediately afterward. I took the driver’s position at the back, while my spouse sat at the front as a passenger.
The track was uneven, with uphill and downhill sections and sharp turns. The trees along the sides were positioned very close to the sled’s path.
We faced the risk of falling several times. At the halfway point of the track, as we were going downhill, the sled tipped over sideways. After I fell, the sled became free and started to slide away. After being dragged for approximately 10 meters, the sled hook that my spouse was holding got caught in her clothing and on a tree, bringing the sled to a stop. I ran after it in panic and anxiously checked whether the hook had pierced my spouse’s body. Fortunately, the sled hook had only caught on the snowsuit she was wearing. I asked the staff member on the sled in front of us for help, because my spouse was unable to walk due to her leg hitting the tree. Since there was no safety or assistance unit within the track, we were told to continue and finish the course.
Unfortunately, my spouse’s leg was seriously injured, so we went to the hospital and began medical treatment.
The organizing company had taken no safety precautions within the track. For participants experiencing this activity for the first time, there was no appropriate safety equipment, nor was there any environmental adjustment on the downhill sections and sharp turns of the track. There was also no emergency safety or intervention team available for accidents that might occur anywhere along the course.
Before the activity, there was no written or verbal briefing about possible risks and dangers. After the accident, no assistance was offered for medical intervention.
Tromsø, Norway, is a major tourist destination. How do government and municipal authorities supervise tour activities? Are there truly no procedures or implementation requirements for such uncontrolled and dangerous sports and activities?
When the lives of people coming from all over the world are entrusted to you, how do you take responsibility for this?
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Dear guests
Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are truly sorry to hear that your wife was injured and that your dog sledding experience did not meet your expectations. We wish her a smooth and full recovery.
We have carefully reviewed your feedback together with our dog sledding partner. The safety and well-being of our guests is of the highest priority to us, and we take incidents like this very seriously.
Before each dog sledding tour, all participants receive a 30-minute instruction and a safety briefing indoors before changing clothes and proceeding to the dog yard. During this briefing, the guides explain the handling of the sled in detail, with particular emphasis on the correct use of the brakes, speed control, and keeping the main line between the dogs tight so that the sled follows the prepared track. Guests are also shown how the passenger uses the anchor to stop the sled and dog team in the event that the driver falls off.
The dog sledding takes place in a natural Arctic environment, which includes both open terrain and forested sections. Despite careful preparation of the track, uneven surfaces, slopes, and curves are a natural part of this activity and cannot be completely eliminated. For this reason, the tour is classified as having a medium level of difficulty, which is also stated in the activity description. However, we would also like to note that all participants on our tours are beginners, and the activity is conducted daily with multiple teams.
In case of emergencies, guides remain in continuous contact with someone staying in the camp, and a snowmobile is available if assistance is required. In situations where guests are still able to return safely with the sled, this is often the quickest and most practical solution for both guests and dogs. If medical intervention is necessary, appropriate steps are taken.
We truly value your feedback and will continue to use your input to review and improve our procedures wherever possible.
Best regards, Best Arctic

Easy pick up from Tromso, with a scenic drive to the huskies. The huskies are all very friendly and well looked after. I wore the clothes provided , which were very warm. Great time sledging and the provided local fish stew was great afterwards.

A very unique and fun experience; although many people book this and you go to/from the location with a big bus the activity itself divides you into smaller groups (4 sleds + guide’s sled) to make it more enjoyable and to make it manageable for the guides to look out for everyone. The dogs are very socialized and eager to run, and it seems that the staff keep a close eye on their health and make sure they take turns running so they arent overworked. They explained that they will reorganize the kennels to give the dogs more space during their resting time which was the only concern i had regarding their wellbeing.

Exhilarating sled ride/drive. Obvious that the guides love the dogs, and the dogs love to run. Beautiful countryside.

This was such a cool experience! We were given all kinds of interesting information about the dogs and dogsledding. We were given great instruction on how to operate the sleds. We were blessed with a beautiful day and the scenery was amazing. What a fun way to spend a morning in Norway!

This was such a fun thing to do. The staff was wonderful: friendly, knowledgeable and fun.
Trip was a lovely bus ridge thru the beautiful country side. Upon arriving we were taken to a tent like building where we were served a delicious lunch and given information about the huskies. After lunch we were suited up & taken to our sled and dogs. After some instruction we were on our way driving our own team. It was so much fun and the dogs do love to run. To be outside and zipping around in beautiful surroundings was great. If you have ever wanted to do this adventure then this is a great place . We loved the whole experience and we also got to play with the puppies, sweet!
