A good introduction the Japanese food. Our tour guide was fantastic, the food was fantastic but the tour was too rushed.
Giuseppe_V, Mar 2026
I highly recommend the food tour, and Ami was a wonderful tour guide who answered all our questions and created a great atmosphere. It's a fantastic opportunity to experience the diversity of Japanese cuisine, and there's more than enough to eat :-)

We had a terrific time trying the different foods and wandering through parts of the city we hadn't explored yet. In addition to the variety of food, we appreciated the bits of history and explanations of why parts of the city are the way they are.
My only request would have been to meet closer to the first tasting stop. In my humble opinion, it is not necessary to stop and start at the same place if that means you are meeting and then walking 10+ minutes before the first tasting.

Thierry is excellent tour guide! Took us to all eateries as scheduled, explained all different delicacies served. He’s making mindful of people’s individual needs. He’s well organized and managed the time as scheduled. We enjoyed all the food on this tour. Highly recommend it, especially first time Japan visitor's.

Mak was a great guide who shared with us an insight into Tokyo culture and nightlife. The food was fantastic, and enjoyed his company. Would 100% recommend for any visitor

Very friendly tour guides who showed us many sights in Shinjuka as well as providing us with great food to share.

Karen our tour guide was lovely and explained culture and food to us. We especially loved tasting the Okinawa cuisine.

Yuki was a fabulous guide. She had a great sense of humor and gave us information about the locations and food.
We left so full and even my kids enjoyed the food

Shinjuku Food Tour with our excellent guide, Hina, was thoroughly enjoyable. I’d highly recommend it to anyone wanting a taste of the local flavor in this part of Tokyo.

I highly recommend this tour, especially with guide Lloyd! Lloyd was absolutely fabulous and a great storyteller. The food was incredibly tasty, and there was plenty of it. It was a very nice night out and a great time had by all.

We were in Tokyo in Shibuya and decided at the last minute to do this food tour and it was one of the best decisions we made on our vacation. Blake was our tour guide and he was very intuitive and friendly and knowledgeable about the area and the foods that we ate. We started off at a place where we had three courses and drink drinks and then we were off to another place where we had some more samplings and learned about the history of the Neighbourhood and it’s people I would highly recommend this food tour. You will not regret it.

It's such a great experience, walking around places that we'd not seen, eating in restaurants we wouldn't of and eating/drinking things that I'd never of ordered.
The food was delicious a different to the usual Japanese food I've tried.
Emily was a great guide who loves what she does.

Izzy was a great guide, we had tons of amazing food, drinks and she provided wonderful insight into customs. Loved it.

Our tour guide walked very quickly, he only spoke to those next to him and most of the time none of us could keep up. Out of the 4 eateries, only the first one was worth going to. There was delicious seafood and drink, but the other eateries were not, in my opinion, worth it. For the price of this tour, you can easily buy full size meals at all of the restaurants for everyone in your party instead of the bite size samples we were provided. Our guide provided historical background on the dishes, yet he seemed disinterested and required repeated questioning in order to elaborate on his explanations. The last eatery was a takoyaki stand which costs 500¥ (~$3-4) and I don’t think that a dessert of this cost is worth the money. The tour was 2h long and we did not receive half of the food that was shown in the pictures on the site. If you want to kill some time, I suggest looking around restaurants by yourself instead of trying this tour.

Our guide was friendly, fun and engaging. We really liked Agathe as our guide. However, the food was average. The pork tonkatsu was delicious but the other items were just okay.

Dai went above and beyond. The food selections were surprisingly good and the Okinawan food was really unique. He also made sure to share some really interesting history and details about the neighborhoods we were walking through. One of the highlights of our trip.

Akia was a fabulous guide. She had great knowledge of Shinjuku and all the foods that we ate. I recommend this tour.
Vivienne_T, Nov 2025
The tour was hosted by our very knowledgeable and friendly guide Kaira. We visited a great range of restaurants with delicious food. So nice to be able walk and meet people from around the world
Paulina_R, Nov 2025
Great experience!! Our guide Fu was the best!!! He took us to awsome places to visit and explained to us everything about locals!!

The guide Naruto was amazing. Je is very knowledgable and speaks impeccable English. Hsving lived or worked in many countries gives Naruto a deep understanding of culture. The food on the tour was terrific. The 7 or so vearieties of sashimi was extraordinary - fresh and and quite filling. Since I didn't drink the alcohol I can't comment first hand but the group seemed to enjoy the drinks.
Naruto spoke knowingly about Shinjuko and took us to a narrow alley and a stret where the Yakuza reigned.
I highly recommend this tour and Naruto as the guide,

We had a tour with Dai and it was excellent. Dai was so friendly, informative and helpful! We enjoyed all of the spots, and really appreciated the cultural and historical info sprinkled in between where we ate.
Amy_O, Oct 2025
This did not seem like a tour for people who appreciate good food. It was a tourist tour with a lot of talk about the red light district, mafia, etc and we stopped for food at two restaurants, which were not great quality or atmosphere. Sad we "wasted" one of our nights/meals with this, we left early.
Shantell_C, Oct 2025
We loved it! We tried so many foods we would not have found on our own. Mak was a great guide and we had new friends to share the experience with. We would highly recommend it!
George_K, Oct 2025
Excellent food choices, very testy and you won’t go to bed hungry.
Our tour guide was friendly, excellent English, and knowledgeable.
Great bargain.
todd_j, Oct 2025
The food tour is a great way to introduce yourself to Japan. I suggest doing this tour day one of your time in Japan, even if you are here only a day. It is about a special piece of Japanese culture, cuisine, but you'll learn more about history and culture related to and not repeated to good. This tour oriented me to Japan and helped me plan the rest of my time here.
Larry_W, Oct 2025
Loved this tour, top shelf. Great food, interesting fun restaurants. Added value with the knowledgeable guides about local foods, culture and history. Places that I would have never tried or guessed that something of this quality existed in the quaint locations. A fun and wonderful experience well work the time.
