Way too long especially when you can’t see Mt Fuji due to clouds. The transportation turned out to be bus for 10 and very cramped for legs. The tour description said small bus for 25 which would be more comfortable. We were picked up at Tokyo station at 7:30a and returned at 7:30pm. Too long!
Several stops could be cut shortened by 10 minutes. All locations would be good otherwise
We were part of a small group who were so lucky to see Mt Fuji from all different angles and different guises. A full view in the morning with a cloudless sky to Mt Fuji being wrapped in gathering cloud before finally disappearing.
Ro, our driver and guide gave us some fantastic photo opportunities. Great day and counting our blessings.
Unfortunately, we did not have a great experience. It is our first time in Tokyo and navigating the trains took us a while to get acclimated. We were supposed to meet our guide at 7:30 am at Tokyo station (we left with ample time according to Google Maps) and we got stuck in one of the stations due to an issue with our ticket. I contacted the tour driver immediately to let him know and told him we would be 15 minutes late. He was incredibly rude. I acknowledged that being late was our fault but we’re traveling with young kids and it was not our fault for getting stuck in one of the transfer stations. They refused to wait. They refused to rebook and are refusing a refund. A BIG waste of $342. We booked the tour for adults and kids and the tour operator claimed he did not know there were kids. When you book tours on viator it asks specific details on who is attending.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we completely understand your frustration. However, we would like to kindly clarify a few points in response to your review.
1. Regarding the departure time and waiting period:
We operate a shared transfer service, which means that after picking up all guests, we must proceed to the tour destination together according to schedule. Our driver waited for you at the designated meeting point from 7:30 AM until 7:45 AM – a full 15 minutes. We were informed that you were running late, but at 7:45 AM you were still some distance away from the meeting point. Unfortunately, as the other guests were already on board and waiting, we had to depart in order to keep the tour on schedule for everyone. We regret that you were unable to join us on this occasion.
2. Regarding the number of guests in your booking:
According to our records, your booking was made for 6 people. We did not see any indication of a 7th guest in your reservation. Our tour pricing is the same for adults and children, and we would like to kindly remind you that Japanese traffic regulations strictly prohibit overloading vehicles. Every passenger – including children – must be included in the booking to ensure compliance with safety and capacity laws. Therefore, we can only provide seating for the number of guests actually booked.
We understand from the communication between your party and our driver that you mentioned traveling with 7 people. However, as only 6 were booked, we were only able to arrange 6 seats.
3. Regarding refunds and rebooking:
We are unable to offer a refund or reschedule in this case because we had already finalized all arrangements – including vehicle allocation, seating, and guide scheduling – based on your confirmed booking. These preparations incurred costs on our end. Our free cancellation and change policy clearly states that any changes must be made at least 24 hours prior to departure, which was not the case here.
We truly regret that this situation occurred, thank you for your understanding.
I am genuinely disappointed with this tour.
We specifically booked the small-group Mt. Fuji tour advertised as a maximum of 9 participants. The small group was an important reason we chose and paid for this particular tour.
Imagine our disappointment when we arrived and discovered that there were more than 20 participants.
The coaster van was cramped, and the experience was nothing like what we expected from a small-group tour. We did not pay for a large-group tour, and we certainly did not expect to be packed into a cramped vehicle with more than twice the advertised maximum.
What makes this even more upsetting is that ONE DAY BEFORE THE TOUR, I received a message through Viator explicitly confirming our “maximum of 9 participants” small-group tour. We trusted that confirmation. We planned and made our booking based on that information.
So to arrive the next day and find more than 20 people was extremely disappointing. It made us feel that we had been misled about what we were actually purchasing.
This is not about expecting a perfect tour. We understand that tours can have unexpected circumstances. But there is a significant difference between a maximum of 9 participants and a group of more than 20 people. That is not a small variation—it completely changes the nature of the tour and the experience customers are paying for.
The only saving grace was Mt. Fuji itself and the friendly tour-guide David. Thankfully, Mt. Fuji did not hide its beauty that day, and we were lucky enough to see an incredible view of it. 🗻❤️
But honestly, the beautiful Mt. Fuji cannot erase the disappointment we felt about the tour arrangement.
If you are booking this tour specifically because it is advertised as a small-group tour with a maximum of 9 participants, I would strongly recommend confirming the actual group size before booking. What was advertised and confirmed to us was simply not what we received.
I hope Viator and the tour operator take this seriously and provide an explanation for why a tour confirmed as a maximum-9-participant small group ended up with more than 20 people.

We acknowledge receipt of your feedback and would like to express our sincere apologies for the disappointment you experienced during your Mt. Fuji tour. We fully understand your frustration, as you had specifically chosen and paid for a small-group tour with a maximum of 9 participants – a promise we regrettably failed to uphold.
The confirmation you received the day before correctly reflected our intended service standards, but due to an internal operational error, you were assigned to a group of more than 20 guests on the day. We recognize that this significantly altered the nature of your experience, and we take this matter very seriously.
As a gesture of goodwill and to address this lapse, we would like to propose the following:
A partial refund corresponding to the price difference between the small-group and large-group tour.
We are grateful for your kind acknowledgment of Mt. Fuji's beauty and your guide David's professionalism. We hope that, despite our shortcomings, you will still carry positive memories of the destination itself.
Please kindly confirm whether you would accept this offer, and we will proceed with the refund accordingly. We are committed to learning from this experience and improving our service.
We wish you a pleasant continuation of your travels.
It was a well planned, enjoyable day. The weather definitely plays a part in it. We also couldn’t see Mt Fugi which was a major bummer, but the tour guide can’t control the weather. I guess August is not a great time to view the mount. The stops were a cultural experience and the guide was informative and helpful.

It was a great overview of places in the 5 lakes Fuji area. Ro was a great driver, and communicated timing and information very clearly.

Our family truly enjoyed our Mt. Fuji experience! It was a rainy day, so we couldn't see much but our guide went above and beyond our expectations to make our day enjoyable. From picking us up at our hotel to sharing so much knowledge with us about the different tour spots, he truly blew us away. We highly recommend the tour! 6-26-26
