This was an amazing trip for me and my friends. The tour guide took us to 4 interesting coffee establishments as well as some local culture stops. He was very knowledgeable about coffee as well as the local history, even back to the EDO period. I learned a lot about local history and coffee and highly recommend this tour. At the end the guide even helped us pick out some coffee that best suited our tastes to roast and bring home with us! He spoke fluent English and Japanese so do not feel afraid to use this tour. 10/10. Will do again when I come back to Japan!

Cool blend of local history and artisan coffee

My tour guide, Sean, did an interesting blend of local history walking tour with artisan coffee and snacks. It was so cool! The history part of it covered points of interest in Kita-Senju which was apparently a major stop on the historic Nikko Kaido route during the Edo period. The coffee portion was as good if not even better! Sean must have had some serious training in coffee culture and the industry at large. I think it was almost even better for me, a mid level coffee fan, to get a real crash course in roasting techniques and how to analyze different styles and flavor profiles. We did what I would call a high end fancy coffee shop and then also a cool retro themed one. We ended with a place that roasts green beans to your specific specifications, which Sean helped as far as recommendations. So at the end of the tour I had a bag of primo bag of beans! Awesome souvenir from my time in Japan!
