Itinerary

Depart from your centrally located Seville hotel in a luxury, air-conditioned coach and relax during the journey to Granada; get acquainted with the city’s intriguing history as your guide provides interesting commentary and you arrive outside the magnificent Alhambra palace complex. Take a moment to admire the rose-tinted hue of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed monument’s exterior and gaze at the dramatic backdrop of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Head inside and embark on a guided tour of the complex and its richly ornamented chambers; hear tales of extravagant emperors in the Nasrid Palaces; note the contrasting Renaissance style of the Palace of Charles V; and then stroll amid the botanical beauty of the Generalife Gardens, verdant gardens replete with exotic flowers and distinctive water features.

Suitably impressed, exit the palace and enjoy two hours of leisurely free time in Granada. Revitalize with a typical Spanish lunch (own expense) and then return to your comfortable vehicle for the journey back to Seville.

Please note: access to the Alhambra is strictly limited to a certain number of visitors each day. For this reason advance bookings are strongly recommended.

We really enjoyed the tour - Andy was super knowledgeable and spoke at least 3 languages. He clearly had a friendly relationship with staff at the Alhambra. The ride was long - about 3 hours - but comfortable & included sensible pit stops. The group was very accommodating about pickup and drop off to fit the tour into people’s various travel plan. There were about 12 of us, not too big. This is a beautiful site and well worth the visit. Probably the most important thing to be wary of is fake postings - our first booking canceled on us last minute due to a “glitch,” which had us scrambling. THIS tour was absolutely lovely!! But its best feature was that it was real.

Very long day.. 12 hours

Irene_B, Jun 2024
I knew it was going to be a long day but six hours on the bus plus at least 1 hr with the pickups and drop offs it was hard because it was so hot. Also, I don’t think you need a three hours for the tour. I wouldn't recommend this tour unless you were already in Granada .

A real booking with actual tickets!

Tour was great, transportation was mediocre

Jessika_L, Mar 2024
The tour of the Alhambra and Generalife Gardens was phenomenal. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and conducted the tour in English and Spanish. The transportation was mediocre at best. They pick you up from a nearby hotel, and the guide sleeps the majority of the ride. We stopped about half way for a bathroom break and to grab a quick breakfast/snack. There isn’t much to see along the way. We were provided about an hour to “explore” Granada - the guide provided a map, but no recommendations.

Bad experience

Deepak_B, Jun 2023
We had paid for an English speaking guide but our guide did not accompany us for the trip. At Seville we were conjoined with a bilingual English Spanish guide. She did a good job but the large size of the group and the need to repeat everything twice , once in English and then in Spanish made ipur experience bad.

See the Alhambra but skip Granada

nancy_r, Jun 2022
The Alhambra and Generalife Garden were spectacular and our guide was excellent- Rafael. He knew the history of the site and related it in an engaging manner. He made the trip worthwhile. The first part of the trip left much to be desired. There was little communication on our way to Granada. The bus driver dropped us off with maps and a designated time to return. There were no directions about where to go, find sites, etc. We found things on our own but some guidance would have make it more enjoyable. There was no information about Granada’s history given. We could have skipped Granada in the end. The bus ride was long but comfortable. We had appropriate rest stops. Pick up and drop off was fine.

It is worth to visit even from Seville

Dreamer42313, Oct 2019
My pick up time for the tip was 5:20am. It took 10 minutes walk from our hotel to the point. Bus trip took about 3 hours including bathroom rest at a rest stop where you can have breakfast. Alhambra tour started around 9:30am and ended around 12:30pm or so. Tour itself was very informative. You walk a lot, so prepare comfortable walking shoes. After the Alhambra tour we went to Granada city center where you can see more sightseeing attractions if you want, but most of the people ended up eating lunch and there's not much time left for sightseeing because you only have 1 hour or so before going back to Seville. Bus arrive back to Seville around 6:00pm.

There were no issues for this tour. The negatives simply outweighed the positives. Our guide for our drive acted like she didn't want to be with us at all and was not prepared for the trip. She was nice but spent most of the drive there and back conversing with the drive in Spanish. The guide at the Alhambra rushed us through the Alhambra, leaving no time for pictures or exploration. The history that was shared is nothing special or unique - everything is readily available online. One thing to know - the Alhambra is not particularly spectacular. It was bombed to pieces and what's left now is slowly being restored, just not to its full glory. Also, there are many photos of the Alhambra that are online that we didn't get to see on our tour... I'm thinking we didn't get close to the full experience of this place. Choose a different tour... this one is not worth the price.

We enjoyed it very much. The bus ride was relaxing and the guide provided a good bit of information as we rode past various areas, though we had some trouble understanding her English due to her strong Spanish accent. At Alhambra, we did not have to wait to get in. Our guide at Alhambra was fantastic and it is a beautiful and interesting place. Great trip.

The Alhambra is a must see on your visit to Spain! Pictures usually do not do it justice. It's one of those things in life that you have to see for yourself and take in all the beauty and history. Our bus tour guide was very informative and helpful. We left out from Seville to Granada and she talked to us about the history of the towns we passed on the way. Once we got to the Alhambra, we had a different tour guide to take us around the palace and grounds. He was very informative and well educated on the history of Alhambra. Before we had our tour of Alhambra we stopped in Granada to have lunch and walk around town. We happened upon an amazing tapas restaurant called El Conde. You have to stop here for lunch if you go on this trip!

Great tour! What great history, loved the cathedral in Granada and went to visit the Royal chapel where Queen Isabel is buried.

Nice tour if you have not much time...

Kristina D, Nov 2017
Nice tour if you have not much time to do the trip from Sevilla to Granada alone or if you are not able to get tickets for the alhambra anymore because the online tickets are sold out. It is a typical group tour...you have to wait for the other people of the group. The visit of the alhambra is interesting but you cannot stay in beautiful places longer because you have to go with the group. In Sevilla the bus was almost half an hour in delay and we have to hurry in Granada city..

We booked our trip to Spain somewhat...

Richa S, Oct 2017
We booked our trip to Spain somewhat last minute and by the time we started looking into tickets for the Alhambra individual tickets were sold out. This led us to look into guided tour options. I think its best to review this experience in two parts Part one: Hotel pick-up/free time in Granada/drop-off Our pick-up and drop-off were organized by a group called VisiTours and they really could use a lot of work. We were asked to meet at 7:45 at a hotel near ours, my experience with all my prior guided tours has been that the tour company is present well before the meeting time and so when we arrived at 7:45 AM we saw another couple milling about. We waited for a few minutes but got worried that perhaps we had missed our bus and so we approached this couple and found they were waiting for the same tour. Our bus eventually showed up about 12 minutes late which I think is a lot especially given how much we're paying and that we had no way of knowing if they were on their way. It look about 90 minutes to pick everyone up from their hotel time that eventually took away from our ability to see the town of Granada. Seville is a small town and it would be much more practical to ask guests to meet in 1 or 2 central locations. As I already alluded to because of the tardiness of our tour company and the inefficient hotel pick-up process we got very limited time to see Granada. Our tour guide, Belen, kept saying we have 90 minutes however we arrived in Granada at 12:20 and were asked to be back on the bus no later than 1:45 PM. Again, our whole group was very punctual but the tour bus and guides were 10 minutes late making us late to our next stop which was the Alhambra will review this experience next. Finally once we returned to Seville, after the very first stop, Belen proceeded to suggest it would be best if those of us at certain hotels towards the center of town thought about getting off early and getting a cab. It didn't seem like that was totally in our interest as about midway through dropoffs she got off the bus and said she was going to grab a couple beers and head home she left us in the care of a her friend who I'm not really sure was another tour guide or not. Overall this company seemed unprofessional for the price we paid. The bus was really nice but getting them to run the AC on a hot 90F degree plus! day seemed to be really difficult. Alhambra tour: This was an excellent experience and the only reason why I give this tour a good rating. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a wonderful tour of the Alhambra. This is well worth the visit so despite poor experiences on the journey there and back it was still worth it.

Our tour was supposed to leave at 10:15 ad it didn't happen until more than one hour later. Passengers didn't have time to see anything in Granada as the tour offers because we have to be at the gardens at some specific time

Emily_M, Oct 2017
The travel agency Viajes Boreal was very slow in letting us know the meeting time in Granada. The tour was uninteresting, packed with people and in several languages. We couldn't hear anything and were exhausted at the end of the tour. If we had been able to book a private tour, we definitely would have.

Alhambra and Generalife were spectacular, and the docent was very knowledgeable. But, because I was staying at an air b and b in Sevilla, I had to wait for the shuttle in front of a church at 5:20 am and the shuttle didn't come until ca. 5:55am. It would had been helpful if I were notified of the delay

Excellent tour. Our guide, Melissa, was delightful: informative, friendly, helpful, she could not have done more to make sure we were happy. The trip to the Cathedral was a highlight, as was the visit to the magnificent Alcazar. I enjoyed the morning part of the tour more than the afternoon, but in part that was because the river cruise was weather dependent and it rained. The visit to the Bullring Museum was quite interesting, but the sights we saw earlier on were of much greater interest to me.

This is a really good tour if you are into seeing as many sights as possible in the shortest amount of time. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and gave us history and social commentary on the site and its inhabitants over the years. However, because of tour duration limitations, there was not enough time to walk around the Generalife gardens or explore more than a few seconds at each guide talking point. I would recommend this tour for anyone who wants a general overview of the Alhambra and Generalife Gardens.

Wendy H, May 2017
My Granada/Alhambra day trip from Seville was a great day! Everything ran according to the schedule and all the logistics came off without a hitch. Our bus guide, Javier, was a great guy - spoke English, Spanish and French. He provided lots of info about the areas we drove through on the way to Grenada and was very friendly and happy to provide additional perspectives on Spanish life. My guide at the Alhambra, Angel the group was divided into 2 groups for the Alhambra tour, was also great. Super knowledgable and very professional. If you have only one day to visit the Alhambra from Seville and do not have a car, it's almost impossible to do it on your own my usual travel style. Using the tour company provided by Viator was absolutely worth the cost for the logistics we also had time on our own in Grenada before driving to the Alhambra, and having such knowledgable guides. I highly recommend them and would use the company again for other tours in other cities!

Samuel R, Mar 2017
Too many stops on the bus so spent too much time on the bus. Not much information given about what we were passing during the long bus ride. Could have used the time to give comments about what we were passing and also a brief overview of the history of the area and especially of Granada. Guide at Al Alhambra never stopped talking and it was hard to ask him any questions. But we did get to see the extraordinary place and learned a lot about it and the history of the place. Some free time made it possible to get only a very slight experience of the town itself.

Bentia H, Jan 2017
The tour was okay. We got picked up at 5 am and made it back to Seville by 5pm. It's basically just a ride to Alhambra and downtown Granada and back. The guide at Alhambra seemed to rush us through the palace and gardens, which I didn't like. Would have preferred a little more leisurely pace. In addition, the guide wasn't that great. Her English was okay, I could understand her words, but her stories didn't make sense. She was a pretty terrible story teller, just seemed to mix up everything up and I couldn't follow. In addition, you're only provided 2 hrs in downtown Granada. They dropped us off 15 minutes from old town. We felt rushed to find a place to eat and get back for the pick-up. I don't know why they don't just drop us off in downtown. We just didn't have enough time to get to old town and view anything. They really should add an hour to the time in old town Granada to get lunch and see part of old town. I would suggest just renting a car or taking the train.

GizelleLou_Y, Nov 2016
Very organized. We were in a big bus with different groups of people, so the tour guide needed to speak in English, Spanish, and French. We had little time to explore Granada town center, but overall it was okay.

David Y, Sep 2016
My four star rating is actually a five star rating for the Alhambra and Generalife Gardens tour, combined with a less well executed tour with the tour company that brought us to and from Granada. The Alhambra is amazing, and the Generalife Gardens were possibly even better. Our tour guide was full of historical information and context and did a great job putting us into the time period of when the Alhambra was built and inhabited. The tour guide on the bus, however, provided little information - not even an overview of how the day would be spent. The day was extremely hot, and the bus AC was not able to keep up with the heat. We were dropped off in Granada to eat after our tour. We were given a map and told to walk 15-20 minutes to find the center of the city to find a place to eat. We had about 1 hour and 20 minutes total, so much of our time was spent walking into and out of the center. After walking for 10 minutes in the over 100 degree heat, we saw the bus pass us! Why we could not be dropped off closer to the center is beyond me. Fortunately we teamed up with some members of our tour and found a nice place to eat and then rush back to the bus. A hot bus ride back finished the trip. Go to the Alhambra - definitely a highlight of southern Spain. Hope for a better experience if taking the bus from Sevilla.

Jane M, Aug 2016
The Alhambra is stunning and it's a can't miss spot. Our guide for the palaces and gardens, Angel, was an engaging storyteller and the process from bus past the ticket lines and into the venue was very smooth. So that part was terrific and I'd recommend. The issue was the timing of the trip. When we booked, the voucher noted a 7 a.m. start time but no meeting spot. I reached out to Viator and, since they are the middleman here and don't actually conduct the tour, they told me to reach out to the local operator. I did and they said they'd email the details. Two days before the trip, they switched the start time to 5 a.m. Part of that was to pick up other guests. We got up at 4:15 in a country that has basically just had dinner and we were there at the appointed time, but we didn't even leave Seville until 5:45 with the other local stops to pick up other guests. The guide cut short the description of Andalucia so we could sleep but I can't sleep on a bus. The tour was great, but we were exhausted for our free time in Grenada. We were technically back in Seville early, but that wasn't what we signed up for. It felt like a bait and switch on the time. Be aware if you are considering a purchase.

Carrie M, Jul 2016
It was great to be able to sign up last minute for a tour of Granada and to have transportation from Seville. However, Granada was full of visitors and very crowded which made it difficult to enjoy our time at Alhambra. It was amazing that our tour guide spoke three languages French, Spanish, and English but to have so many languages in one tour group was a bit much, wish it was limited to only 1-2 languages in the group. Really beautiful site, just wish it was a bit more relaxed so that I could really enjoy it. Felt rushed to move on during the tour rather than just enjoy the site.

Shiraz K, Jul 2016
We were picked up quite near our hotel in Seville at 5.15am and after about one and half hours we stopped for breakfast at a motor way restaurant. After a 20 min break we left promptly and arrived in Granada an hour and half later where we were met by our brilliant guide. We were each given a headset and we set off for a tour of a lifetime of the amazing, fascinating Alhambra palace. The guide was interesting and informative and the group consisted of about 30 people. We toured the grounds and the gardens and were than taken to Granada for a 2 hour stop.We walked about a bit and had a chance sit down and to buy lunch. We returned to our pick up stop about 6pm. Well worth the cost as it takes away the hassle of organising this trip yourself.
