Great experience. Exploring the rainforest was on my wife’s bucket list, and it did not disappoint. Luis our guide was a skilled communicator and leader. We were confident all was happening as it was supposed to, starting with an early text from Luis. We all stayed together and on time. Luis gave good information about the physicality of the event and let us each enjoy the experience as we were able. Learned a lot and enjoyed our tour guide’s knowledge, good eye for detail, and well considered ideas about nature and our interactions with it. Highly recommended.

Great experience and Luis was an excellent guide. That said, for an 8-hour day, we wished more time was spent on the trails—an extra hiking segment would’ve made it feel complete. The lunch stop wasn’t worth the time, calories, or money. Would still recommend, but just expect a relaxed pace.

Really nice and easy hike through El Younque rainforest. We were picked up at a hotel in San Juan then driven to the rainforest where we walked on a paved trail to the lookout tower where we were able to take in 360 views of the rainforest and see islands in the distance. It was a fairly easy walk, although steep, but our guide stopped frequently for our group. Afterwards we stopped at a gorgeous waterfall and swimming spot in the river.

Salomon was an excellent guide and she pointed out flora and faune--she had a good eye for animals on leaves! Hike was nice and the view from the tower was spectacular!

Our guide, Jose Henrique, was great. He gave us a solid background on the people and geology of PR. On the trail, he stopped to point out many interesting plants, snails, insects, and birds. Mt Briiton is a steep climb but the trail is semi paved, and you can take breaks. Our 2nd stop was as a swimming hole in a river with a rope swing. If you are not into hiking or swimming, or getting caught in the rain in a rainforest, this trip is not for you. But if you like adventure and you are in reasonable physical shape, do it! You will have a great time!

We had a great experience. From the drive and seeing the countryside to the actual hike, our guide kept us informed and she was helpful.

Amazing trip, views and hike!!! Shalomir was a great guide with lots of information. The views from Mt Britton look out tower did not disappoint, the lunch stop had delicious food and cooling off in the river was the perfect way to end the day. Highly recommend!!!!!

There are so many different rainforest tours being offered, its hard to choose. We are so glad we picked this one. We are early 60s, normal shape. Some of the other tour descriptions sounded a bit too difficult. If that is your concern, this is the hiking experience for you. It is a perfect hike through the rainforest. The path is perfect with a narrow sidewalk all the way up. Not a muddy, slippery mess like some of the other paths. We covered a long distance but at a relaxed pace. The views from the top are fantastic. Our guide, Diana, was funny and very knowledgable about everything we saw. You will learn about the island and the rainforest. I was interested in a swim, my wife was not. Many of the other tours focus on jumping or sliding or cave swimming, if that is important to you, maybe pick a different tour, because the swim is not the main event here. If you want a complete rainforest hike at a relaxed pace and stunning views with a refreshing swim at the end, this is the one for you. The transport was clean and modern. The lunch stop was good. When we finished, I knew we made the right choice. Also, they pick up from more hotels than are listed on the Viator site. Just contact them. We were at the Sheraton, which is not listed as an option, but they do pick up from here.

Luis is the best! An immersive excursion into the rain forest, pointing out to many animals hiding in plain. He was extremely knowledgeable and patient and certainly never a dull moment . It makes you appreciate the El Yunque to a much more profound level. 6/5 stars.

We enjoyed our El Yunque Rain Forest experience with Luis. Luis was very knowledgeable about unique species in the rain forest and pointed out flora and fauna that we wouldn't have noticed otherwise. The experience was a combination of riding in a van and walking with rest stops as needed. We also stopped for lunch, which was good also. This tour is probably not for very serious hikers who are doing it for the challenge. We are a couple in our early 60s, in average physical condition for our age, and it was perfect for us. Don't be nervous about doing this if you are a first timer. Luis answered the questions we had about what to bring and what to expect. We were glad we had rain ponchos: it is a rain forest, after all. We do recommend this experience and Luis.

The hike was good to the observation tower.
Food stop was kabobs in plastic tubs not very hygienic, they used the same paint brush to add sauce to all types chicken pork and shrimp. Disorganized & took forever, wasted valuable time could have visited a natural pool.
We stopped at a river area that had very little water and slippery large rocks.

If you are looking for a true hiking experience this isn’t it. Hiking portion of 6-7 hour trip is approximately 45 minutes of uphill/downhill to a tower structure. The rest is driving through heavily congested areas to see a waterfall and river on the side of the road. Lunch stop was interesting, and locally operated but priced for tourists. Guide was good. Hotel pickup definitely a plus if you just want the “rainforest experience “

Luis was extremely knowledgeable, informative and charming.
His commentary really enhanced our understanding and enjoyment of our visit to PR. Highly Recommend.

We had a wonderful time on this tour of the rainforest yesterday. We weren’t interested in sliding down rocks and jumping in the river. It was difficult to find a tour to suit us. Luis delivered the experience we were looking for. He is passionate for Puerto Rico and very knowledgeable. He pointed out snails, lizards and a walking stick. We learned about the many types of frogs and calls. He was concerned about everyone’s safety. We would highly recommend this tour and Luis.

Our tour guide was knowledgeable and kind. The rainforest was beautiful and the kiosk food was delicious. The shuttle service was also a game changer!

Diana was fantastic. Told us all about the history of Puerto Rico and the rainforest. Had a great personality and always had us laughing.

I enjoyed this tour! Our guide Diana was knowledgeable and friendly. She also brought a sense of humor :) This was a great tour to get into the rainforest a bit and see things that not everyone may see on their own.
Marsha_D, Jan 2024
Our guide, Diana, was terrific at getting input from participants (15) and modifying the itinerary to accommodate repeated episodes of rain. Despite the absence of glorious vistas, we thoroughly enjoyed the hike. For example, she pointed out the Puerto Rican tody and described its nesting in mud banks, taught us how to locate well-camouflaged walking sticks, and discussed the mimosa, a plant whose leaves fold upon contact with humans (or other objects) and was used to help locate fleeing slaves. Throughout the entire tour, including a short detour to the coast and a lunch of local food, she talked about the many cultures contributing to the complexity and vibrancy of Puerto Rican life in a personal and often-humorous way.

@Luis was a wonderful passionate tour guide sharing his knowledge in the small animals and plants we saw as we hiked. Last stop was at a watering pool that was so refreshing.
