What are people saying about El Yunque National Forest

Awesome must do!!!
Awesome booking! Our guide Blue had tons of fun facts and gives all the safety cues when climbing/jumping so everyone can enjoy this activity. Note you need your own vehicle and you follow the guide to the falls, also you need watershoes (the pharmacy at the meeting point has some for sale) they do not allow sandals on the hike (for good reason)

Great tour!
Great choice if you only have a half day to see El Yunque. The vehicle was comfortable and clean. Our tour guide Isaac was awesome and knowledgeable. The short 1 mile hike through the rainforest was easy. Bring some dry clothes to change into if you want to swim in the creek.

Knowledgeable guide
No restaurant or clean facilities nearby. The tour guide took us down a trail to a swimming hole. Expected more.

This is an incredible...
This is an incredible adventure through the Puerto Rican rainforest. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and are very conscious of everyone’s safety. When they say you will get muddy, believe them! We all wore water shoes. Definitely recommend doing this tour. It’s like getting taken to the local spot with locals. We had a 7 & 9 year old with us and they did just fine.

  • The El Portal visitor center provides a good introduction to the area—pick up a map and follow the signposted trails. It's open daily from 9am to 5pm and does not require a reservation. However, individuals 16 or older are required to pay an $8 entrance fee.

  • Wear hiking boots, comfortable clothing, and bring a bathing suit; flip-flops are not your best bet.

  • There are plenty of hiking trails in the forest. The trails are restricted to foot traffic only and are not accessible by stroller or wheelchair.

  • Popular combination tours include a kayaking trip on the nearby bioluminescent bay and a visit to Luquillo Beach.

  • Travelers interested in a guided tour of the forest should ensure that their tour operator is an authorized El Yunque National Forest tour guide prior to booking.
