The helicopter base was an hour's taxi ride away, and I wasn't expecting that. I should've checked in advance but didn't...so fair warning everyone else! When I got there - just in time - I was asked if I wanted a cold drink or maybe a beer? I opted for the beer (I was on holiday after all and not driving the thing, so why not?).
I also opted for the extra video they make of the journey, which is e-mailed to you about 5 days later. So given that I had paid for a VIP flight, and bought the extra video offer, I was a little surprised to also be charged for the beer! And so to the flight itself.
Well, it's at that point that you realise that Rio is just like any city anywhere on the planet. It too is subject to the vagaries of the weather. Every day for the last six months, in my mind this one day, this one particular half-hour was bathed in glorious sunshine. But it could be so different. Too cloudy, too wet, too windy, too anything...And today, right now...was none of those things. It was as if I had placed a weather-order with the Redeemer him/her/itself. Rio and the weather working hand-in-hand to deliver my long-held weather expectation. Across that panoramic perfection rode one helicopter and two insignificant passengers who may have been thinking different things about their forthcoming trip, but not that they would soon be silently and reverentially acknowledging the imperial majesty of Nature and Humans to bring us, well...this.
A planet we could exist on, the luck that would allow us to develop and live this long, and the vision that would allow one person to say, "I've got this crazy idea. What I want to do is put a statue of Christ - right there...", and the vision that would allow another person to say, "Eh...OK" And they did. Then my wife and I came along. We took some pics. Shot a video or two. Ipanema, Copacabana, Cristo.
Minds so exstatically blown. Grateful to everyone for everything.
So yeah, it was OK. We'd do it again.

Took a helicopter ride with Helicopter Rio de Janeiro, and it was a great experience. The helicopter was clean, the pilot was professional, and the staff was friendly and courteous.
Karine, one of the managers, was especially great—very helpful and welcoming.

Overall solid experience via helicopter. Don't opt for the footage since they don't give you a physical copy. If you are new to helicopters, a closed door is best. If you are a thrill seeker, opt for the open door for the best experience. The location is deep into the Barra area, away from the hotel zone. Add 30-45 minutes for travel time. Earlier in the day is better, and head to Leblon for food.

The heli over Rio is a MUST experience. I wanted to give my friend an amazing birthday present and this hit the spot. I asked for a memorable time near sunset and they delivered just that!
If you have reservations due to fear of heights, trust me you’ll feel safe! My friend and I afraid of heights and falling, and we both felt so extremely safe.
We arrived super early due to unknown traffic time, but they had a well supplied, air conditioned lounge with a restroom. The snacks included for free were cookies, coffee, and water. The snacks included for purchase were champagne, juices, and a variety of other snacks.
The staff was very accommodating and kept us up to date of our appointment. They were running slightly behind, to allow engineers cool down between flights (highlighting they keep safety in mind).

This was an incredible experience the quite possibly the highlight of our 22 day transatlantic cruise on Viking. The weather was “not ideal”, but turned out great for us. The pickup was smooth, the check in was no problem, and boarding the helicopter was easy. Off we went for a flight over Rio. We say the iconic beaches, neighborhoods, and buildings. Then, out of clouds was Christ the Redeemer. It was awe inspiring. Our pilot circled the statue to those of us (4 total) on each side of the aircraft could see it. Wow. We looked down at the crowd of people at its base and were very thankful to be up in the sky. The clouds made the statue look even more majestic. Just amazing. If you are in Rio, this is a must do.

by far one of the best experiences i’ve ever had. the communication was amazing, even letting me reschedule when the weather wasn’t great, and though i didn’t get the most favorable weather the second time they were very communicative about my options. amazing staff who were super helpful. the pilot even waited around a little bit for the clouds to clear just so we’d have a chance at seeing the statue - overall amazing experience would highly highly recommend this company!! should i ever come back to rio i would absolutely book with them again

Great communication from the start. Must do when in Rio. The sights, and experience will last with you forever. The staff here is fantastic and speak very good English. We took an Uber from Copacabana which took about 50 minutes so plan accordingly when getting to there. Once there we were able to go early and it was fantastic. We saw everything and the ride was super smooth and the pilot was excellent. Once back the staff helped with the Uber and we got back easily. Highly recommend! 5* 10/10

Bitter sweet experience with this tour company.
They seemed to careless about customer's experience.
I was traveling with my friend to Rio and we absolutely wanted to do this tour, we booked and paid in advance but we didn't know our tour was not guaranteed anyways because we bought the shared tour what means if they don't find a solo travelers at the same day and time of your tour you would have to pay the difference and make it private or else your tour will be re schedule or cancelled.
It was very frustrating to deal with this matter while in vacation, Viator should also tell you this when booking it. Really didn't like that and how they dealt with customers via WhatsApp.
However, this tour is a must TO DO while in Brazil, honestly one of the best things I have ever done in my life. the helicopter ride was about 35 mins, and the views of the beaches and the Corcovado/ Christ de Redeemer was stunning. I can't get over this experience.
Despite the awful experience with the tour operator previous to my tour, I managed to enjoy that moment.
Also, I really liked the 360 video they upsell you, but they should have told us that it was gonna be a YouTube video only, and it was gonna take 5 business day to send the link. Definitely communication is not their strength.

If you’ve ever wanted to feel like a glamorous James Bond villain surveying your empire…or just an average tourist with a serious taste for adrenaline, then this helicopter ride over Rio de Janeiro is the way to go.
From the moment we lifted off, I knew this wasn’t your average Uber ride. Christ the Redeemer atop Corcovado Mountain, looking serene and unbothered while I was holding on for dear life (kidding! It felt super safe) Jesus had the best view in town, and for 30 glorious minutes, so did I.
We zipped past Sugarloaf Mountain (Pão de Açúcar, for my Portuguese purists) like a giant bread roll of geological wonder. I half expected it to start spinning like a rotisserie. (Rio heat does things to your imagination.)
The beaches. Oh, the beaches. Copacabana sparkled. Ipanema? Just as sexy as the song, even from above. I swear I spotted the “Girl” herself, sipping coconut water and ignoring the tourists. Leblon waved from the west, all elegant and bougie, while Barra da Tijuca stretched out so far I thought we’d flown into another state.
Honorable mentions: the lush sweep of Tijuca Forest, the sprawling favelas that climb the hills, and the dramatic cliffs of Pedra da Gávea, which looks like a sleeping giant who couldn’t be bothered to move for a few centuries.
Was it breathtaking? Absolutely.
Final verdict: 10/10 would risk motion sickness again. If Rio is the Marvel Universe of natural beauty, then this ride was my IMAX.

While checking the information provided for your flight, we identified that the weight previously informed was different from the one previously scheduled (120 kg was informed and at the time of the flight the weight verified was 147 kg).

This would be my first time in a helicopter so my anxiety was high. But my pilot was reassuring and informative he took us pretty much through every part of Rio and got great photo points. The check-in team was super kind and understanding as one of the passengers was running late they were still able to accommodate without any wait. I will book every time!

An expected good product , but POOR SERVICE AND POLICY. I arrived 1hr early, first of 3 passengers. Then when the other 2 paxs arrived ( 1 arrived late and we left a few mins late ...not a problem) we had to draw random papers to see where we sat. I got the back seat. When I went to get into the back seat left side, the guy at that door stopped me and told me to walk around to the other door on the right side. I ended up with the worse seat on the helicopter, facing the ocean most of the way. The lady who came late was then put in the left seat. There is no explanation why. At 188cm tall, there was no space and my knees were up against the pilot seat. Uncomfortable and obstructed viewing the entire flight, whilst the shortest passenger got the front seat with the extra leg room. Going back the pilot flew closer inland so the view was not the same or as impressive! Also when he circled back so i could get the view of Christ the redeemer, because of the angle, there was a strong glare and reflection of myself and camera on the window. What happened to first in best dressed? You buy tickets online early, you get to choose the best seat. You check in early for a flight, arrive early at a show or concert, you choose the best available seat. Those who come late expect to take what's left. NOT AT THIS COMPANY...LOTTERY SEATING IS THEIR POLICY.The manager offered me a second flight at half price with 2 other people, but said I'll have to wait to see what they say, so front seat still not guaranteed!! Pointless!! No customer service standards. Unlike other companies also, the pilot said nothing, not even hello or goodbye. Just silence from him. We could hear other pilots and air traffic speaking over the headsets. This is a product that people will pay for, so they don't care about the delivery or customer expectations. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone expecting good views and wanting to take videos or pics, because their lottery seating could get you the worse seat, while someone who doesn't want to take photos sits in the front (as happened on my trip)

This is definitely a must-do if you are in Rio. The 30 min flight gives you great views of the coast, Sugarloaf, Christ the Redeemer and the various neighborhoods in Rio. Professional pilots and amazing how many helicopters are at the airport.
