The time indicated at the time of the Reservation is merely indicative. The day before the tour, we will contact via WhatsApp with the boarding details. If the boarding address is not provided, the final meeting point will be : Socialtel Lapa - Rua Visconde de Maranguape, 9.
Lunch will not be served before the boat ride as some people may feel uncomfortable due to the movement of the boat. Lunch will be served between 14:30 and 15:30. We recommend taking snacks and water to consume on the bus during the journey.

The tours normally operate even in adverse weather conditions and are cancelled only in exceptional circumstances, when the Navy of Brazil does not authorize the departure of the boat.
NOTE: Do not dispose of any items in the toilet (including toilet paper).
The vessels do not operate when overloaded and are inspected by the Navy of Brazil. During the high season, we prioritize larger boats, always within the legal limits.
Transport Rio - Angra dos Reis – two options: Hotel shuttle (if available for your accommodation): If you choose hotel shuttle, you will be picked up directly at your accommodation, but you will need to participate in the boarding of the other passengers. The transfer will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. From the last meeting point, the journey to Angra dos Reis will take 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Final meeting point: If you prefer to avoid the hotel transfer, you can go directly to the final meeting point by selecting Socialtel Lapa - Rua Visconde de Maranguape 9 on your Reservation. From there, the journey to Angra dos Reis will take 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Fun beach/boat day

Fun boat day that takes you to 2 snorkeling spots, the second stop you could see the fishes from the boat and then to 2 very pretty beaches. Be prepared to pay for drinks and snacks on the boat there is no free open bar and the included lunch not that great. Also prepare for 2 hour bus ride up and 2 hour bus ride back not too bad though the buses are clean and comfortable.

Too far away. Not enough fish

There is a very long bus ride to and from the boat, well over two hours each way. The snorkeling was pathetic. Only a few fish, no coral. The food on the second stop was poor quality and on the third and final stop there was only a beach and a church. Good fun on the boat ride on the way back as some people got drunk and starting dancing.

I was unwell so asked to reschedule the night before to any one of a number of new dates across the next week. The operator had been communicating with me until I asked this then ignored me and never responded. Took my money and no tour. Also, they told me lunch would be at 4:30pm.

Great Value, But Mostly Travel Time

This budget-friendly tour is a solid deal if you’re looking for a cheap escape, with lunch included and the opportunity to experience both a bus ride and a boat trip. However, most of the day was spent traveling—first on the bus picking up passengers of 45 and then getting on and off the boat with about 150 other people. The boat ride itself was pleasant, but a bit cramped and chaotic due to the large group. The beach time and swimming were nice, but limited to only about 30-45 minutes, leaving you with little time to fully enjoy the water or relax. If you don’t mind spending a lot of time on the bus and boat, this is a great option. But if you’re looking to spend most of your day actually enjoying the destination, this might not be for you.

Just okay. Terrible lunch

The tour itself was okay for the money spent. The lunch was horrible, no selection and it tasted old. I suggest you bring your own snacks or lunch or you will be greatly dissatisfied. The guide Felipe needs to learn some manners and treat people with respect. When I boarded the bus I saw an empty seat on the first or front row in the bus. I decided to find one row with two empty seats. A minute later a mother and a daughter got in and could not find a row with 2 empty seats do I decided to let them take the seat I was sitting so they can seat together. I moved to the front empty seat. Next to it there was a backpack, I assumed that seat was occupied. Then the guide Felipe came in and rudely told that the seat was his. I didn’t know he could take two seats. Then, he ordered me to move to a different seat. What ever happened to say please when asking for something before? I could have stayed there and argue but I specify confront him at the end of the tour. Other than this unfortunate moment, the tour was just okay. Please someone retrain this Felipe guy. Thanks

Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend booking with this agent. I was extremely poorly on the day of travel and therefore I did not attend. I tried to cancel a day before however i was told I would pay $100 to reschedule. Explained it was my last day before leaving the island. I had no response after. On receiving the itinerary the night before i realise it didn’t mention going to Ilha Grande as advertised. When I asked for clarity on this i got no response. This was my main reason for booking this trip with Viator, as my hotel had the same trip advertised but without the Ilha grande (and cheaper). I’d say book with another booking agent.

Disappointing

While we are happy to have visited the island, unfortunately we would never recommend this tour. 3 bus loads of people on 1 boat was uncomfortable. This coupled with other tour groups flocking to the same area and we were taken to absolutely tiny areas of sand with no room for people explore and enjoy the island. There was zero focus on protecting the environment, guests were jumping off the boat onto the fish area, putting cigarettes in the water. No care for anyone’s health and safety, ladders were slippery, people jumping over other guests. We spent more time on the coach than on the island. We arrived at our pick up point on time, and due to no space on our bus for other guests, we sat and waited for another bus to arrive. Overall, a disappointing experience.

The tour was nothing like the description

It is not a visit to quiet beaches. There was no hotel pick up/drop off. You have to get transportation to a meeting point. It is a 2.5 hour bus ride from Rio to the port and 2 hours back to Rio. The entire tour is on an overcrowded boat (tourists had to sit wherever they could and some had to stand). First stop: 40 minutes snorkeling. There was no fish and the water was not clear. Photographer had fish food to attract fish for photos only. Several boats and swimmers were cramped in a small area around the boat. Second stop: quick 30 minute beach stop with flag/jetski (don’t really remember it). Lots of honking, air pollution from too many boats, and trash in ocean. Sad sight to see. Especially if you are thinking that you are going for the biodiversity. Third stop: buffet lunch for an hour in an overcrowded and littered beach. Views blocked by boats. Fourth stop: another 30 minute beach stop. I opted to stay on the boat while most got off and that was the best part of the tour. Staff barely interacted with tourists unless they were collecting money. No explanation of the beaches at all. Staff were asleep on the boat.

The excursion itself was great, very nice views, and nice people working too. I would like to mention that the lunch option wasn’t great (but there’s food on the boat so it was manageable). Also, the pick up was a bit messy (it was right after carnaval so I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt). We asked to be picked up from a spot close by, only to have it changed to another one, further away (5 mins walk, vs 20 mins taxi), only to find out that there were closer spots to were we got sent (found out because the tour guide and the bus weren’t there). Anyhow the rest went by smoothly, I’d recommend taking on the excursion

Mediocre, but you get what you pay for

I think that there are many things that can be improved upon. I was with my wife and we were thinking this was more of a quieter, sightseeing cruise with more swimming, snorkeling and longer stops. I think the food was good and definitely the price was excellent. There should be said that you are allowed to snorkel in one place only though, and that there are a great many boats all in the same place that are honking their horns and scaring away a lot of the fish. Also, it is advertised that the pickup and return are from your hotel with no mention of it being earlier or later than posted, or that it is subject to change depending on the time of year - that was definitely unacceptable as it was quite distant from us to the meeting place. The entirety of getting on and off the buses is also just kind of a chaotic mess, though I have no idea how you'd change that without the individual pickup and drop offs. Overall, I'd say it's an ok trip to take, but has room for improvement and definitely don't go during a local holiday or they'll absolutely refuse to go to your hotel for pick up/drop off and will instead just threaten to cancel the trip on you and not refund you anything.

Don’t do it!!!!!

Ana was our tour guide and honestly other than telling us in the morning which bus to get on, we didn’t hear anything else from her. We did seek her out near the end of the tour to ask what was happening when the boat pulled up to a beach for about 10 minutes and then pulled back out and sat about 200 meters off shore. She said “you were told that you get get off the boat for about 20 minutes if you chose to” however when we said no one told us we could get off she defensively said yes you were, someone came and told you. We had no idea what was happening, and she could care less. The tour its-self was WAY overbooked. There were 4 busses full of tourist on our boat trip alone…half that many would have still been too much for the size of the boat. It was overcrowded with people having to sit in the floor. This was carnival time, we knew it was going to be busy, but with the traffic it took 5 hours to get to the boat and almost 3 to get back. We spent about 1 hour snorkeling, and 30 minutes at another stop to swim….thats it! We thought we were going to have way more time in the water. Also, as another review had stated several people hadn’t paid their bar tab so we say 100 meters away from docking until everyone had paid up. The music was way too loud on the lower deck, and no speaker on the upper deck. The lack of communication, the wasted time, the overcrowding made this the WORST experience we’ve ever had on an excursion….DO NOT BOOK THIS! There were several smaller tour boats with 8-10 people having a blast!

Good beaches but false advertising

The beaches and the boat were fine. The beaches were beautiful and plenty of room on the boat. However, there’s false advertising that they pick you up at the hotel. It’s a pickup at a central location at 8, whereas it’s advertised as hotel to hotel pickup and drop off. You can get picked up at your hotel but you need to be ready by 6:30am. Also, the itinerary for the time spent at each beach is also off, we spent 30mins instead of 40 at each location.

We were insulted and threatened- stay away from this operator

We ended up not going on this tour after the operator (less than 24 hours before the tour and after the cancellation period had passed) unilaterally changed the pickup place and then repeatedly insulted us for not agreeing to the new pick up location. We also were informed at the last minute that the included lunch would not be provided until late in the afternoon. We also realized that the advertising failed to explicitly advise us of an almost 3 hour bus ride each way to the boat. After repeatedly insulting us and questioning our motives, they finally agreed to pick us up at the agreed time and place. By this time, we did not trust them enough to proceed with the tour - they refused to provide a refund. . After advising them we would file a complaint with Viator and give them a poor review, they threatened us repeatedly to include with civil and criminal prosecution. The staff member went so far as to accuse us of “scaring her” when we made no comments about her personally in any way. Even after we asked them to stop communicating with us, she texted us six more times. They went so far as to stop at our hotel, after we repeatedly said we would not be there and claimed to have contacted us and videotaped our refusal to appear as proof that no refund should be granted. So, to avoid giving a refund of $180 CAD, they apparently inconvenienced everyone on the bus. So many red flags… they should be banned from Viator.

In light of the above, we have already activated our lawyers to proceed with a complaint for defamation and false statement. It felt like a scam! Not group size of 45. It is 150+

I wanted a small group excursion to have a relaxing and fun day. This boat is not for 45 people like advertised… 45 people go on each bus and there are three buses loading the boat with over 150 people. YES!!! be prepared to join 150 on your boat ride!! Also the bus ride was about 5 hours each way to and from the boat. It was was a very chaotic day with extremely loud music and not fun at all!!! I couldn’t wait to get back home never again. On the positive side the bus driver and our guide was super nice.

I did during the peak season, in early January. Our guide, Felipe was nice and kind. The overall problem is there are too many people in a group as others pointed. This is not good for both tour participants and the guide. A daily group consisted of more than 40 people is packed in a tour bus; then, at Angra, 2 or 3 of different tour groups are packed in a boat (because a similar tour is organized by many different tour operators). Fortunately, my group’s departure was not too delayed in Rio and we did not wait that long on the port to take a boat. For me, snorkeling/swimming at Lagoa Azul was nice. I could see fish (only one kind as I remember) quite easily because crew members attracted fish by feeding them to take photo/videos for some tour participants with extra costs. Interesting. But there was nothing really special to dropping by three different beaches (one of which is for having lunch at 5 pm; well let's call it early dinner) on the island. Please take your own lunch when taking the bus. On the way to Angra, the bus stops once at a rest area; but it is very crowed. You would better keep in mind that it will be at 11 pm to 12 am when you get back to Rio.

Bad Boat Day

This was by far one of the worst experiences I have had on a tour. The tour ran 5+ hours late. We did not return to our hotels until 1:30 am and the description of the tour did not match the actual tour experience and/or itinerary. We had “lunch” at 5:00 pm because we were running so behind and the tour company didn’t even provide us with snacks through the day to compensate for a lunch at 5:00 pm. The tour really needs to consider reducing the number of stops for passenger pick up the morning of and overall less passengers aboard the boat. There was extensively long stops at random gas stations as a rest stop.

A disaster of a trip! Do not go!

The trip was nothing short of a disaster I work in events for a living, owning a successful events management company and to say the day needed structure is an understatement. Firstly we were 40 mins late being picked up. Our names were not called yet the rep has been what's apping me all morning. I genuinely wish we had not got on the coach at this point. 4.5 hours later we arrived to stand in a queue for roughly 40 mins to eventually board. It's peak season and they hadn't allowed for traffic yet knew there would be traffic - this could have been avoided by an earlier set off! The coach smelt like stale sick, the toilet looked it would after a night in a nightclub toilet. There was no toilet roll from the start of the trip. 40 passengers - 4.5 hour journey - not a great plan! The boat staff were ok. The boat was clean. One of the staff had brought her small child and I understand that whilst she needs to make a living, what I experienced yesterday was no place for a child. The day wasn't advertised as a party boat, yet that's clearly what 1/2 the boat decided it to be. Then to be encouraged by staff to sing and shout on the mic too! It's wasn't a relaxing island hoping boat tour with families etc. the worst part I have to say that utterly astonished me was the payment system. As you asked for a drink. You wrote down your name and each time you went to the bar your drink was added to the tally sheet. We were then given wristbands to wear to show we owed money. As the time came to pay, the boat was full of people being sick, heavily drunk and in all honesty idiots! Whilst the majority of us came forward to pay, there's was a good 10-15 people who did not! At this point they stopped the boat in the middle of the sea and refused to move on until bills were paid! By this point it was as already 9pm. Eventually we was let off the boat, back on the smelly bus with people being sick around us and a locked toilet. To then be dropped off in the middle of Rio! Far from safe!

The islands were beautiful. However, the tour company booked too many people which made the pick up 1 hour late, the boat way too crowded (it was difficult to move and find a seat), and the unloading process off the boat to a smaller boat took way too long. It made for a very long day.

This was a disappointment, the islands and the tour guide were amazing, what messed up the tour was all the trash on the third island, they were dead animals, and plastic bottles and trash all on the beach and floating in the water, I was not only appalled that they would allow Tourist to go to a place like that but the poor animals that would eat the plastic or in the plastic is completely disgusting, I couldn’t even snorkel because there was so much plastic in the water! When we told our tour guide about the plastic, she said that they clean up the beach, but there is no way that beach has gotten clean for months because of the type of trash that was on there and the stuff that was growing on the trash, I wouldn’t recommend this to anybody until that trash gets cleaned up because it’s horrible, there were little kids swimming in the trashy water, they need to get their stuff together and figure it out!

Very easy, viator picked us up at Airbnb and dropped us off after. Islands beautiful. Third island had a lot of trash in the water and on the beach with 10 dead fish, 2 dead birds and a dead penguin…yes a dead penguin! Simple buffet on the last island. Total time of trip from pick up to drop off 22 hours

everything was 100% memorable. Elainne was so nice and humble with us. She is very professional. She picked up us on time and explained everything in three languages. The boat was fun and a unforgettable experience. The four beaches are incredible. Maybe the only disappointment was the food. It was a buffet but it was cold and not very enjoyable. The way back to the hotel was smooth and faster than I thought.

Long tour with too many people

We spent more than an hour for the pick up of all the guests and the we had a 2.30h journey until the port. Our guide Flavia was very friendly and polite. We went then on the boat where we were merged with another group for a total of 120 person! It was difficult to find where to sit, difficult to snorkel all together, I really didn’t like it. The food at the buffet was awful. We arrived back in Rio at 9pm. Not recommended
