- Our studio is located in a typical and narrow street of morro da Sé Cathedral, in a walking distance you will find Sé Cathedral, Ribeira, D. Luis I Bridge, Guindais, São Bento Station, and the neighbourhood of Sé itself it's a typical and magical place full of inspiring spots.

This workshop was a gift for my daughter’s 15th birthday. Hugo is a very calm person. The experience almost felt like a form of meditation. Everything is explained very clearly and you learn a lot about how to mix colours and how watercolour paint behaves. I used to be a bit daunted by watercolours, but now I feel more confident and ready to try this new experience once back home :). We all had a great time and it was a peaceful break in the middle of our crazy day of sightseeing. Thank you, Hugo :) I’d definitely recommend it.

I’d say this class is equally suited to someone with some experience of watercolour painting or a complete novice, Hugo tailors his approach to your ability.

Hugo is an excellent artist and teaches watercolor so anyone can understand it. He is very patient and very personable. We painted an actual scene in Porto that he has his drawing copied on to very good watercolor paper. I loved this class very much!!!

I traveled to the beautiful country of Portugal with my family in October. I did not realize that the fall would mean more rain. As I was checking the weather throughout the week, I realized that it was scheduled to rain when I had a tour scheduled. Not wanting to be miserable outdoors in the rain, I rescheduled the tour and looked for indoor activities. One activity that came in my search was Hugo's watercolour painting class. The location is close to Sao Bento station and a walk up hill to his study. He was a great host and teacher. Provided us with water, provided us with art history and history of Porto. It was a fun family activity and we each had pride in seeing our finished painting. I had no idea at the beginning that I would make something worth keeping. This class is perfect for all art skills. Hugo is very patient, talented, and a good teacher.

Hugo is a kind teacher of watercolor technique. He demonstrated brush usage, saturation, wash and line. We learned how to mix colors, how to create texture and shadows. Lovely 2 hours.

I loved this experience! Hugo is so friendly and welcoming and he’s an excellent teacher. It was so easy to follow his instructions and I’m very happy with how my painting turned out. This is a fun experience and you get to leave with a unique souvenir of Porto. I also liked that afterwards, I was able to easily find the location of the place we painted and take a photo of it.

This was a cool experience - highly recommended. Hugo was a charming instructor who explained/showed everything - accessible even for us as complete novices. It was a bit challenging for my 13yr old (who isn't great at paying attention), but even hers came out nicely. We're going to frame them and treasure this unique memento of our Porto trip!

Two hours flew by at this charming studio with Hugo as he showed us how to make a beautiful keepsake of Porto. He was kind, patient and very sweet and we all had a fabulous time. It was a highlight of our stay in Porto! I would do it again in a heartbeat if we returned and highly recommend to anyone.

I can’t speak highly enough of Hugo. I was late due to trains being delayed and he made me feel so welcomed despite this disruption.
His tuition was so encouraging and calm. He spent more than the allocated time just to make sure we were happy with the experience. I’ve been to a few watercolour fun tutorials but this is the outstanding best experience I’ve had. Thanks so much Hugo. You are such a patient, talented artist and tutor. 🙏🏻

spent a wonderful 2 hours painting with Hugo and 3 other people...The studio is lovely and airy. He has the perfect Portuguese scene ready for you...just follow his step by step instructions. You end up with a beautiful piece. Probably will be one of my favorite memories of Porto.

This class was awesome! At first I was nervous as my painting did not look very similar to Hugo’s but trust the process! Everyone’s turned out great. The outlined template to paint on top of was very nice to have as i’m not the best artist. Hugo was super friendly, engaging and made sure to go at a good pace for everyone. He did not rush anyone at all and was patient with us. He is super sweet and so authentic. I would have signed up for another class if I had some more time during my trip

This was so MUCH fun, we could not have enjoyed this more. It was literally one of our top 2 things we went and done while in Porto!
He is very hands on with teaching so even if you have little to no art experience you will be able to pick it up and make something awesome!

Hugo is excellent to work with. I had never used watercolor or any kind of art media before other than an adult coloring book. He gave complete instructions how to achieve the color range as needed. His shop is very bright and clean, and he offered us water, and there was a toilet available. From this class, I feel like I can purchase a few supplies and can enjoy creating some watercolors on my own now.

This was a fantastic experience! We are not experienced artists and Hugo was very patient in explaining how to approach the process of painting. We learned so much and had a lovely time discussing art and how to develop a sense of depth through the variation in color across the painting. This is a great way to spend an afternoon and the result is a nice memory and painting to take home!

Had such a great time! Hugo was kind, warm and welcoming. The class was set up and organized and Hugo’s explanation on steps was perfect. I learned a lot of water color techniques as well. Highly recommend this class and am looking forward to taking another!
