Welcome to Boiler Studio. Here we work as a team! Holidays and leisure time are for relaxing, socializing, getting to know the city's culture, and meeting new people. In this tile painting workshop, you can experience a little bit of all of this, because this experience is designed so that you don't need any prior experience, just to feel good. Enjoy yourself and take a piece of Portugal home with you, the best souvenir made by you and which you will remember as your tile. Oh, and during your activity, you will also enjoy one (or more) cocktails with a variety of choices ranging from the famous Porto Tónico to a glass of champagne.

Learn about Portuguese tiles and enjoy an immersive cultural and artistic experience in a private tile paining class in downtown Porto. Learn about the history of Portuguese tiles and tiling technique, then choose from pre-designed replicas of traditional Porto tiles to paint and create your own unique souvenir to take home.

Our Azulejo Tile Painting Workshop is the only one in Porto offering two options of tile painting techniques: -You can experience the original artisan glazing method, just as Portuguese craftsmen have done for centuries. This method tiles need to be fired in a ceramic kiln at 1,100°C (2,012°F), it takes up to 5 days to pick up or can be shipped. -Or choose the ready-to-go acrylic painting option, where your unique tile is sealed and ready to be taken home right after the workshop. Both allow you to create a unique piece of art to cherish. The session takes place in our working artist studio and gallery, surrounded by contemporary art and creative energy. Led by a professional artist, you’ll paint step by step, no experience needed, while also receiving insider tips of Porto’s best art galleries, museums, tile-covered architecture, and local restaurants. A perfect mix of authentic craftsmanship, creativity, and local insight, this workshop is truly one of a kind.

Guests will be provided with a blank white tile and various patterns and designs to choose from. The patterns will be traced onto the tiles then filled in with acrylic paint, which dries much faster than ceramic paint and doesn't require being fired in a kiln. Guests can then take home their tiles the same day!

Whether you come alone, with friends, or with family, this is an opportunity to take a creative break and enjoy a different artistic moment. For €13, you will have access to all the necessary painting materials (paints and brushes). At the studio, choose the piece you want to paint and only pays the difference until the value of the piece is reached, with prices ranging from €13 to €50. After painting, we take care of the firing and your piece will be ready to be picked up until 3 to 4 weeks after. The availability of ceramic pieces is subject to the stock available at the time of your visit. We cannot guarantee the availability of specific models. Thank you for your understanding. In a cozy artistic studio, learn the craft of traditional Portuguese azulejos while sipping on delightful Port Wine. This two-hour session welcomes everyone, from beginners to experienced artists, and includes all materials and expert guidance to help you create your own ceramic tile masterpiece. Enjoy a social atmosphere accompanied by relaxing music, and leave with a handmade souvenir that captures your creative journey in Porto.

The session begins with a practical introduction to color theory, covering light and shade, blending, and complementary tones. Using a 21x30 cm acrylic canvas, you’ll explore layering, toning, and creating visual effects that bring your ideas to life. Next, you’ll learn the key properties of acrylics, from brush techniques, pressure, and angles to diluting with water and working with drying layers. You’ll also practice background painting, color veiling, and other techniques that help each stroke convey your vision. Participants can choose to replicate base designs provided or create an original composition from scratch, while our instructors provide guidance and feedback to refine technique and complete each artwork. The workshop includes a selection of sweet and savory snacks, as well as water, juice, Port wine, and coffee. The experience takes place at Domus Arte, a concept store dedicated to workshops, art exhibitions, and Portuguese handmade crafts.

This is a tile painting and Port wine experience in a handmade ceramics studio. We will also demonstrate the manufacturing process, where the tiles are produced by hand using artisanal processes in our studio.
