I had a great time on this tour. My guide (Reza, I think?) was very informative and knows a lot about the history of the region. I got to see Omaha Beach, the Normandy Cemetery, and a really cool city nearby called Bayeux. Go on this tour. Its worth it.

It’s very important to be on time, especially if you’re going on a long all day trip. And should there be last minute changes in your trip itinerary, you will need to be flexible.
Response from Host, May 2025

Thank you for your message.
We fully recognize the importance of punctuality, especially during a long day with an excursion.
Please accept our sincere apologies if any delays or last-minute changes have caused inconvenience.
Rest assured that we are doing everything we can to adhere to the planned schedule and to remain as flexible as possible in the face of unforeseen circumstances.
Have a nice day.

I love the places we saw and learned a lot by reading. The tour guide was basically a driver and did not provide us with much historical information. When we stopped for lunch, many of the restaurants were closed. I also wonder why he could not drop us off near our hotel since it was on the route back. We can all save money.

The tour is very good. I wish we could have stayed longer and gone into a few of the museums that we drove by and were told they were there. More time would have been better.
Response from Host, Feb 2025
Hi Alan,
Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback, which helps us to continually improve.
We are sorry to hear that the tour was too short for your liking and we understand your disappointment.
The Normandy Day Trip is a very popular excursion with our clients as it allows them to discover the rich history of the region by visiting the landing beaches of Normandy, an emblematic site of the Second World War.
As this site is more than 3 hours from Paris, it is difficult to add museum visits to the day trip. However, we do offer 2 day tours to this destination which include a visit to Mont Saint Michel.
We are glad you still enjoyed the tour and hope to see you again !
Have a nice day,

Gold Beach German battery bunkers made the trip! It was something not on the schedule that I suggested. Americain Cemetery, Bayeux

Being I’m still quartine in USA, my cruise to Rome was canceled and my Air France flight to Paris was canceled I was not able to do tour. You requested for me a refund which they refused to give back when their country was also quartine and not open. I have no problem with Viator. D-Day tour is the problem.

Very disappointing iteniary. The sights were not the ones seen by other tour agencies
Our particular sights were not what we expected or wanted. They were the quick easy see it let’s go hurry hurry battle sites
Very disappointed!!!!

We had 8 in the van. I pity those in the third row. No leg room on a 3 1/2 hr ride.
Driver was friendly but just a driver. Didn’t do much as a “tour guide”. There should have been tons to tell us about and he didn’t. Very disappointed in the “tour”.

The tour was very nice as we departed from Paris towards Normandy. There were some concerns about the size of the van that we were to travel in, but things worked out very well for each of us. The tour guide was helpful with information and ensured we had breaks as we traveled from Paris. We visited a variety of stops along the tour and had time to enjoy a meal and tour other sites as well. We did have an unexpected delay as one of our attendees lost their way back to the departure point while in Normandy, but this was solved by the attendee being assisted by the local police station. We picked them up just a few walks down the road and made our way back to Paris. Overall a very nice trip and experience.

This was probably one of the most important things on our 2 week Europe vacation because my husband was in the army and had always wanted to visit normandy and go on a tour. This tour was an extreme let down and we felt like a waste of money. We used Viator for ALL of our tours and spent a lot of money with the company- but this tour was really disappointing. The tour guide didn't guide us at all- she gave us no information about the events that occurred there. She wasn't knowledgeable and I was so sad we went with this tour because I felt like something my husband was REALLY looking forward to was a complete bust.

Excellent tour of the area. A solemn tribute to the heroes of D-day. The rain or clouds let up each time we ventured out. The city of Bayeux was very nice as well. Take the time to view the tapestry. It's amazing. Long day trip but totally worth it.

I enjoyed the trip very much. Reza - our guide, was very well informed and gave us a lot of interesting facts.

We had a day tour ( 12 hours) and it wasn't enough. Our driver Max was great and very considerate and knowledgeable. It's about 3.5 hours to get there and then back. Honestly we only had one hour at the cemetery and museum. Max had told us just the museum could be three hours. We saw Omaha beach, and two others. Stopped for lunch. We were busy and the tour was great, just not enough time in the day!!

REZA IS AMAZING. Our tour guide Reza is what made this experience so worth while. The second we got in the van he began explaining everything to us. Attractions that were around the city as we were leaving, small things we would never know about, like the tunnel where Princess Diana was killed.
Reza speaks 3 languages and fluently translated between them for all of the guests to enjoy. He was funny and truly knowledgable about Normandy.
The experience here was amazing. My husband and I did not feel rushed anywhere. We went to the Pont du Hoc to see where the first soldiers landed, the American Cemetery, Bayeux (a small port town to walk around, have lunch freely, and see a beautiful cathedral here), and a WW2 museum. Although the day was packed it never felt hurried and we certainly learned and experienced a lot.
It was worth all of the money spent. A perfect day trip!

Focuses on American landings. Talks up Americans involvement but fails to mention much about the Britons which fought the longest.

This was a wonderful excursion. Our guide was great. The only thing that I would change is that we were in a passenger van, and it was a pretty snug fit 7 plus the guide. Normandy was beautiful and I learned a lot even though I've gone on a Normandy tour before. Highly recommend!

Had a great day learning about all that took place on that eventful day in 1944. Great guide, well experienced in the facts.

Our guide, Faybien, was the best, and very knowledgeable. My only complaint was there were nine of us in a mini van. I sat in the middle of the front seat with the gear shift. It was too long to travel that way.
beawslaiw, Oct 2016
This was an incredible, emotional historical trip!
Lucia S, Sep 2016
This was a good tour, but as it was a minivan or SUV seating 8, if you were sitting in the back it was difficult to hear the guide, so I would definitely suggest a microphone so everyone can hear everything the guide has to say. Needless to say, the monuments and beaches were incredible. From Paris, it was a very long day as it took us almost 4 hours to return. I would consider doing it by train a better option for maximization of time.

Our guide was very good, and you could tell he liked the subject.
Davina R, Aug 2016
My family enjoyed this daytrip and it was great to expose/teach/share this piece of history to/with our kids. Our guide was difficult to understand at times his first language was Spanish but he was very nice. Our luxury tour bus was very comfortable and made the drive enjoyable. The lunch we had at a seaside restaurant in Arromanches was a highlight of the day. My only complaint is there was not enough time to see the US War Memorial/Cemetery properly and it felt very rushed. The Normandy countryside is beautiful and it was time well spent. We would recommend this day trip to others.
Danni C, Aug 2016
Dmitri was a great guide, funny and knowledgable. Of course, the sites and history of Normandy and the beaches were not disappointing. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars was because the van we rode in was very cramped and uncomfortable. Otherwise, it was a tremendous experience we would recommend to everyone!
Camille G, May 2016
The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The day moved along well and we saw everything that we wanted. The problem was the transportation. The van used by French Tourism was small! It was not comfortable for the 3 hour ride. Disappointed in that.
Sarah S, Mar 2016
This trip is getting two stars because although the tour guide was friendly and informative, my husband and I were very disappointed in how the trip was broken down.
1st stop - Pointe du Hoc, 30 minutes
2nd stop - Omaha Beach, 10 minutes
3rd stop - Colleville American Cemetery, 1 hour
4th stop lunch - Arromanches, 1 hour
5th stop - Bayeux, 40 minutes
I would have been much happier to spend more time at the landing beaches and no time at Bayeux. It was also a half hour drive to our lunch stop. If we ate closer to Omaha beach, we could have had more than 10 minutes there. Overall I just wasn't happy with this trip at all.
Robert C, Oct 2015
Guide should have given more information regarding the landing strategies.
Sylvia J. S, Oct 2015
Definitely worth the 12 hours. So impressive. All of our guides have been excellent.
Chris G, Sep 2015
This tour does not go to Bayeux which is listed in the description. I booked this tour specifically because it went there and I was very disappointed. The places it goes are amazing but the tour itself was very mediocre. I can't recommend this trip. Try something else.
Phong P, Sep 2015
This tour was borderline between okay and disappointing. The day we went, it was drizzling so the weather wasn't in our favor. No big deal because this wasn't anyone's fault. The problem here is that we got ourselves a translator as a guide instead of a professional guide as described in the description. The group was small, only 8 people including us. The guide had to speak English, then French, then Spanish every time he was describing something. Talented, but unfortunately most of the time, all he did was drive us there, left us at the various places and gave us a short amount of time wander before having to meet back. We got very little interesting historical information from him, except at the pointe du hoc, and that was a quick speed walk through some of the points of interests since it was drizzling.
The Omaha beach was a short 5-10 minute photo stop. The free time we had at Arromanches beach was good. We had to split our time between having lunch not included in the tour and seeing the ruins along the beach. We had to rush through our 3 course lunch but fortunately, we picked a good restaurant and we ordered only one portion and shared. In Bayeax, we had to pay for the Normandy museum and/or tapestry museum. We opted for just the Normandy museum and it was good.
This tour was provided by francetours. It was our only time using them, so we don't have any other reference point to know how well the conduct other tours. For the 130 something we paid, we were expecting a better guided, someone more informative, then just a minivan driver.
JeanGuy_R, Oct 2025
Very interesting tour. However, the guide did not have an audio system in the van. Passengers in the rear had difficulty hearing.
