My daughter and I love to travel together, so when we had an opportunity to take a short trip to Panama, I wanted to find a fun outdoor activity to do. If you like to hike, look no further. This is an amazing hike to do. Alex was our guide. I read many reviews before booking this guided tour and all of them praised Alex. Alex is a genuine and humble individual. He is a local, knows the area and terrain well, and is full of knowledge. As a teacher/educator, I value a good lesson, and boy did we get one! I wont spoil it for you, but if youre up to a physical challenge, the end result of this hike is worth it! The booking information about this activity is spot on, so read it and be sure to follow all the recommendations. I want to personally thank Alex for a wonderful experience and definitely plan to do this again. You will not be disappointed!

Alex is a really good tour guide. It is truly an once in a lifetime hike and the waterfall is amazing. The hike is actually in a virgin jungle that has narrow muddy paths. Although we had an 8 year and 60 plus individual with us, it might not be ideal for some. it was 1.5-2 hours hike one way to the waterfall. There are some fear factor moments. Overall, enjoyed the hike and the meal with local family afterwards.

An amazing experience. Our guide, Alex, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the ecosystem we were entering, as well as the current challenges for its indigenous guardians. His passion for sharing Panamas beauty and history was inspiring.
This is a jungle, not rain forest, hike. Do not expect to see the same kind of fauna but it is no less beautiful and ecologically important. It is higher altitude with changeable weather....be prepared for wet and cooler temperatures. The footing was extremely muddy. Proper clothing and footwear is important and be prepared to be covered in red mud....awesome. Tips...bring a full change of clothing, including shoes. The water at the falls is cool but an absolute must....bring swimwear. As Alex explains, while you should bring Deet just in case, there were absolutely NO mosquitos and the neurotoxin is not good for the fish. Points of clarity not included in the description...you will stop on the way there to get snacks. There are toilets at the start and end but bring toilet paper. The lunch is provided by local hosts also terrific at the end of the hike....eat a hearty breakfast.
Hikers should be in good physical condition as the return hike is essentially all ascent. Take the intermediate rating seriously but be prepared to have a soul satisfying adventure.
Thanks, Alex!

Alex was a great guide, amusing tour of jungle and waterfall.
Be in good shape, not an easy tour.

This hike is amazing but is not for the those who are looking for something relaxing. It is quite challenging but the experience is totally worth it. Make sure to have proper hiking shoes and clothes that you don't mind getting dirty as it is quite a slippery walk especially if it is raining. Alex is an excellent tour guide he is knowledgeable, friendly, and is a pleasure to hike with.

We absolutely loved the tour!
Alex was awesome - he's a biologist and is so knowledgeable about the area and all that inhabits it. We stopped for both coffee and lunch, and both were delicious. It is quite a strenuous hike, so be sure to wear proper running shoes and pack lots of water.

This was a once in a lifetime experience for us. Our guide, Alex, was extremely knowledgeable and made us feel safe the entire time. We enjoyed getting to know Alex more and learning about the country of Panama. Our lunch which was prepared by the Guna tribe was our favorite lunch of our entire trip. We would highly recommend this trip to anyone up for an adventure, but pay attention to the details - long pants and good hiking shoes are a must.

Alex was a wonderful tour guide who told us not only about the history related to the tour but the conversation also included the history of Panama in general. The jungle tour was completed during the dry season, but I've heard that it is a lot more difficult to navigate during the wet season. You should not book this tour if you're not physically fit you don't need to be a gym rat but the walk is 1.5 miles one way with no trails or assistance. My fiance and I completed this hike one way in 1 and a half hours but some take as long as 4 hours one way. I would definitely recommend Alex again. He primarily does all the tours but he does have a back up in cases of illness and such. I don't think the hike would have been the same though with a different guide. The only negative I have which is common in Panama is the price is standard no matter how many guest are involved in the tour. I personally think if the tour is 128 for 1 person to go and that covers gas and all the other expenses then if two or more people all go on the tour together is should be 128 for the first person and the second third and so on should pay a reduced price since at that point the vehicle and other cost are already paid for.

Alex was awesome. Just be sure you are more than the average amount of adventurous if you book this! Snakes, pumas, jaguars, poisonous ants and spiders. This hike it through untouched virgin jungle with no path. It's rigorous. Very rewarding if you make it to the waterfall.
