Be prepared to learn the history of casco Viejo. Easy walking tour through the 5 x 10 block area that is Casco Viejo. Alex did an awesome job of explaining the history and evolution of this area intertwined with this own personal experience growth up this this area of Panama.
In September 2026, we visited Panama City and took The Legends of Casco Viejo Tour, which was amazingly interesting full of historical information and beauty. Our tour guide, Alex, was highly knowledgeable and congenial. He made the tour extremely interesting and fun. As we toured the area, he seemed to know most of the locals, which made us feel very comfortable and welcomed to the area.
Casco Viejo is well worth the visit, it is full of diversified architectural buildings, churches, a Cathedral, town plazas, local shops, and numerous coffee shops.
Highly recommend both this tour and Alex, our tour guide.

We really enjoyed the tour with Brayan. He was very attentive and we learned a lot along the way. I liked that he brought awareness about the original habitants of the region and how they are being affected by the gentrification. Also, he show us different places where we can eat and buy gifts. This was a great experience and fun to walk around the city and learn so much from Alex. It helped me become even more familiar with the area as I was staying in this area. Would recommend for anyone who wants to be familiar with the area and learn some history, especially if you are staying in Casco Viejo.

Richard was a wonderful tour guide! Very informative and kind! I have taken tours like this before, so was disappointed that this one felt very rushed. I would have been happy to have walked less and taken in more of the culture, photos, and a stop for ice cream or a local snack. I also was disappointed in the high price after hearing how much other tours were going for. I am not sure if it was in the tour description, but was surprised that this was strictly a NON STOP walking tour with no time to rest or to cool off, so to be prepared with water and good walking shoes.

I had the pleasure of joining the Casco Viejo Architectural Tour on Saturday, August 29, with tour guide Alex Biggs. Before this tour, I had taken the standard Panama hop-on/hop-off bus tour, but I did not come away with much insight beyond noticing that lunchtime traffic can be heavy. I was looking for tours that would introduce me not only to Panama's major attractions, but to also to its people, history, culture and daily life-both past and present--And Viator never disappoints. The Legends of Casco Viejo Tour was the right tour for me. This tour complemented my previous tour which focused on Afro-Panamanian and Caribbean culture. Mr. Biggs, our guide, provided our small group with some historical context as to the origins of the city and explained some of the architectural significance while giving us insights of what the future might hold for the area and its inhabitants. Walking through the street with Mr. Biggs was both enjoyable and enlightening. Every street we passed through, he explained not only what we were seeing, but also why it mattered. His stories brought the area to life, especially as he shared memories of playing with his friends on the very streets where we walked. Mr. Biggs was considerate, humble and attentive to our small group. He made sure we had water, and plenty of "air conditioning" break on a hot Saturday afternoon, and the pace was just right. Exploring Casco Viejo with him convinced me that on my next visit to Panama, I should stay in the old city and enjoy its charm and ambiance. Thank you, Mr. Biggs for bringing Casco Viejo to life through your stories, knowledge, and personal experiences in the beautiful architectural gem.

Alex (aka “Colon”) was an excellent tour guide. He an impressive grasp of the history of Casco Viejo and Panama in general. He did the tour in a very unique way, tracing the history through specific locations. He also provided water on a sweltering day. The stops also included souvenir stops and historic places. Lastly it ended with a sunset. Highly recommend this tour.

Tour was very informative and fun. I think it should be stated in the brochure that would will need additional money to enter the churches on the tour. This was not stated and was not expected.
