Itinerary
Get on one of the open-air double-decker buses for a hop-on hop-off tour of Milan. There are four bus routes with more than 30 combined stops, so you can find a stop close to where you are and where you want to go.
The route for Line A, the red line, includes the Milan Duomo (Cathedral), the 14th-century Castello Sforzesco, and the renowned La Scala opera house, one of the most famous theaters in the world. The entire loop of Line A takes 90 minutes.
The route for Line B, the blue line, includes the skyscrapers of Palazzo Lombardia, the Porta Venezia (one of the historic city gates), and the Santa Maria delle Grazie church, in which Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” fresco can be seen.
The route for Line C, the green line, includes the massive San Siro football (soccer) stadium, the Monumental Cemetery, and a stop near the shopping quarter around Via Montenapoleone.
The route for Line D, the yellow line, follows the canals of Navigli, past Piazza XXIV Maggio and the Duomo, to the posh district of Montenapoleone and Brera.

Great to have 4 bus routes however the timing meant you could rarely switch to another line with ease. The commentary also gave hardly any information mostly playing classical music. On a rainy day, we had to sit downstairs however the windows were blacked out and opaque due to artwork on the side of the bus. Would not recommend.
The headphone jacks aren’t operational at many of the seats. The audio guide tells you about a place before you see it. When you see it she is already on your another sight.

There are 4 routes but only 1 bus per route so depending on timing, it can take 50+ minutes to catch a bus. This is not ideal if you are trying to switch between lines.
The activity advertises free wifi but on the redline, the driver said it only works on the yellow and blue line. It wasn't working on the yellow line either and I didn't get a chance to try the blue line because of point 1.
It seems like at least 50% of the audio ports are broken on the top of the redline. Obviously I didn't check every one to know for sure but we did sit in 5 different seats and only 2 worked.
There is no announcement of what stop you are at unless you are listening to the audio which can prove difficult as you can see from the point above.
I had to purchase this activity twice. The first time I opened a new tab and the date changed to the current day. I reached out immediately to the tour operator as cancellations within 24 hours is not permitted. I tried again multiple times with no response. It wasn't until I left a negative review that the tour operator responded. Their response wasn't - we would be happy to extend you a voucher for a date in the future. It wasn't, we are very sorry but we can't refund you but here is a discount code for a future purchase. The response was a canned - thank you for your feedback, we will use it to improve.
I only mention this last part to give you an idea of how difficult you will find getting assistance if you run into any issues.

This was a really disappointing day. It was very hot and the bus kept stopping for long periods of time, turning off the airconditioning. The commentary was virtually non existent so we were just riding around the city not knowing what we were looking at.

Great Experience, took 3 of the 4 routes. The auto guides were informative and the staff friendly and helpful. Busses were clean and ran frequently.
This tour was the best way to see the City of Milan !! Comfortable buses , good service and extensive commentary with great music !!!!

We do the Hop on Hop off in every city we go to on first day to get a feel of area and our bearings. First on this company- staff was rude and headset didn’t work so couldn’t hear any narration. As for Milan, doing this is not worth it as Milan really only has the Duomo as a sightseeing spot. Otherwise you are driving thru areas you won’t want to get off in. And nothing to see of interest. Waste of time and money - not needed in Milan.
Great way to cover a lot more of Milan, and we really enjoyed the different routes depending on your interests.

They would not use my confirmation number, nor my booking number in order to allow me access onto there. When I took a photograph of the person who denied me and her boss, they then wanted me to delete that from my phone or refused to put me back on the bus because she had separated me from the rest of my family! He was equally unhelpful. I will never take this again and I have used this so many times in the past.

Great experience. But had no bus after 610 pm to take us home. As waiting for the bus for the different routes took a long time.

This is a great way to get around Milan. We were here during the heat wave so the upstairs seating was hot. Inside had ac which was a relief. As long as you pay attention to the signs it’s very easy.

Decent bus ride, just not alot to see. I think $10-15 would be fair for such a small city with less than 10 stops. Also, how is there no bar code reader for tickets? Yikes, as a tourist, there’s no way I’d now that the bus people don’t have this device. The site generates a bar code for the tickets but they preferred seeing the entire email? One bus driver didn’t speak any English and we almost got turned away because he didn’t understand us. Milan has definitely seen us for this one time lol

We have used this tour in every country we have traveled but in Milan it was extremely confusing and the conductors were not helpful. If you are looking to use the hop on hop off bus in Milan use the Milan open bus instead more stops and better organized. The map and QR code are not on schedule and while there are several lines to ride they don’t all connect. We hopped on one line and then two stops later told it was the end and no other bus was going to that location. Ended up taking a cab back to where we started.

almost no information given about the sights and history of milan. an hour sitting in traffic, listening to classical music on the provided headphones. very disappointed and would not recommend this specific tour (yellow line)

As far as other hop on hop off bus companies go, it's pretty average.
The audio commentary is not detailed and about a block to late.
Having 4 routes though the city is a good idea.

While booking this tour, I opened a new tab which inadvertently changed the date from 09/06 to 06/06 (less than 24 hours). I noticed within a couple of hours an immediately messaged the tour operator through viator requesting to change the dates. The tour operator did not respond. I sent a follow up message a few days later and the tour operator still did not respond. I waited a week to leave this review to try and give the tour operator an opportunity to respond even if it was to tell me "sorry, but refunds within 24 hours can't be honored" but I received ZERO communication.

A great way to get an overall view of Milan. To do all 4 routes it will take approximately 8 hours with no sightseeing stops. Each route takes approx 1 hour, however the wait time for the next route bus add to the travel time. Wait time varies as does the regularity of buses on specific routes. The wait times between buses or routes were sufficient to have a meal before rejoining your chosen bus. Highly recommend if you have limited time in Milan.

Audio does not work on buses
Tour guides do not interact with you. They are only there to check tickets
No warning before each stop.
Drivers will stop at random spots to get coffee and greet friends.
The bus is a great way to see Milan with minimal effort
Lots of stops to get on and off. Buses can be crowded which is a pain
A lot of the ear bud connectors on multiple buses did not work so we were unable to hear the description of what we were supposed to be looking at or what stop was coming up.
It was a rainy day, and no coverings on the windows at the top of the bus. There were very few dry seats!!

This hop on not as good as other cities
Other cities tell you at the stop what sights to see this didn’t happen they just said the stop
A shame as we have done many hop ons around the world
