What was advertised as an 8 hour trip took nearly 12 hours. Thirty people was too big a group and guide’s English too fast and difficult to understand. A group of about 10 would have been preferable. We had to wait in a queue for about an hour to catch the 20 minute ferry ride to Gozo from Cirkewwa. Bus to north end of Malta took longer than expected and the fast ferry from Valletta to Gozo would have been a much better option. In spite of all this we managed to enjoy the history, most sites visited and good companionship.

The tour itinerary was good, nice places to visit. However, I had a hard time following the tour guide. It was not clear what we were visiting, what the story around it was. Also, it was hard to hear him unless I was standing beside him.

I was expecting to be picked up at our hotel, but this was changed at a day’s notice so we had quite a walk. I also thought we would be in a small group. We were on a full size coach which was full. When at the archaeological museum it was chaos. Our guide tried to shepherd us around the exhibits among other parties and individuals. We couldn’t see what she was talking about or hear her. There was no time to look around the exhibition ourselves.

Rushed, chaotic and too full.

The organisation of this tour was somewhat chaotic. Our guide was great but 46 people was too many especially as the tour was in Spanish and English thus making communication slow. Joss (guide) gave us good information but we did not go to Fungus Rock or the inland sea (both were advertised as part of the tour). We did go to The Ggantija but did not get a chance to look in the museum as we were hustled through to the site itself. Randomly we spent time at some cliffs for some reason. When we got to Rabat/Victoria to see the citadel the bus was sent off to collect school children and we had to hike steeply uphill if we wanted to see the citadel. Why we could not have been dropped nearer the top was never explained. Lunch was very pleasant (choice of soup or pasta to start, chicken or omelette with salad and potatoes, scoop of ice cream, glass of wine BUT pay extra if you wanted water or coffee). Long drive from Valletta to the ferry and back so really only 5 and a half hours on Gozo. Didn’t feel we really saw Gozo and probably should have made our own arrangements. Only do this tour if you are seriously unable or unwilling to organise it for yourself.

Having read some poor reviews about this excursion I was a little apprehensive. However it was an excellent well organized tour. Picked up at our hotel in clean air conditioned mini bus and taken to port where we met our fantastic guide. He looked after everyone in the group and was funny and informative without being over stating. The lunch was basic but well cooked and exactly what you expect on this sort of excursion. Very disappointed with this tour. We started the day with a 7:45 am pickup, and then spent the next two hours driving around picking up other groups. When the guide greeted us, he placed a sticker on us that we had to wear the entire time. I have never encountered a tour that I have booked with Viator that has made me wear a sticker or anything to identify as part of the tour group. Usually the guides are good at knowing their group. For certain areas ours included it would have made more sense to make a pick up spot at a central location. Once we finally got to Gozo, we boarded another bus to head to the temples. The guide was hard to hear, and took off before everyone had gotten off the bus multiple times, leaving those of us who were in the back of the bus in the dust. The package also included what the guide described authentic Maltese meal which was chicken and potatoes.... which really can be found anywhere. We spend SO much time at lunch, and then had to go and watch a movie after about the history of Gozo- definitely not needed. We also only spent about 20 minutes in each place, and were not given enough free time. Due to the timing of our trip, this was the only Gozo excursion that we were able to go on, but I do not recommend it. Not worth the money. Would have loved to have a lot more free time in the city center, and exploring the island as a whole.

This was a good day out. Pick up from hotel in Valletta and a tour via other hotel pickups to the north of the island for the ferry over. This could be improved as I had an hour and half from my pickup to arrival at ferry terminal. Once on Gozo - good tour of the oldest tombs and the landscapes with a knowledgeable guide. A local lunch came fast and was tasty. Could have visited some of the magnificent churches but did enjoy Rabat citadel views. Another hour and a half back from the ferry!

The tour guide was excellent....friendly, helpful, organized. The tour was a good general overview, though more time at Ggantija would have been nice. Suggest skipping the lunch and allowing time to eat the wonderful street food.
