What To Expect
Take an insider's tour of Madrid's most famous bullfighting venue, Las Ventas Bullring, during this audio-guided tour. This self-guided experience offers the perfect opportunity explore this unique facility at your leisure, learning about the history and traditions behind this controversial sport and key aspect of Spanish culture.
Start your visit to Las Ventas any time during the building's opening hours, presenting your already-purchased ticket and picking up your optional audio guide. Learn about the fascinating history of this contentious sport and one of its most important stadiums. In the past, many Spanish nobles fought bulls while mounted on horseback, though this practice was outlawed by King Felipe V in the 18th century. This, however, did not end the tradition, as men took to the ground to continue engaging in the practice of bullfighting, creating the typical Corrida de Toros (classic bullfighting style) events that remain popular with Spaniards and persist to this day.
Take time to investigate the key sites in this elaborate stadium, including the beautiful architecture of its main entrance, before continuing to the tendidos (levels of seating) where you can explore the stands where visitors watch the fights. Check out the alleyway that surrounds the main ring, which is typically used by matadors to escape from enraged bulls. Then stop to view the stadium's principal gates, including the Door of Madrid, famous as the exit used by victorious matadors.
Make sure to spend some time admiring the architecture of Las Ventas. This brick façade building, first constructed in 1931 by Spanish designer José Espeliú, is considered an excellent example of Neo-Moorish style. Look for the beautiful ceramic tiles lining the stadium's walls and keep your eyes peeled for the glazed plaques that display the emblems of the various Spanish provinces.
Continue on to the Bullfighting Museum of Madrid at your own pace and see works such as engravings from the tauromachy of Goya, bullfighters dresses from the twentieth century, a section devoted exclusively to Manolete and a large testimonial sample of the birth of the historic Las Ventas bullring.
Then, strap on a virtual reality headset and become immersed in a real bullfighting scene. You are transported to the San Isidro Fair where you can experience what it’s like to be a bullfighter and a realistic bullfight.
Continue your visit as long as you like and feel free to purchase food or drinks at the on-site café if you'd like some refreshments.

We didn't get to go because you told sold us a ticket to an event that was closed. Even when asked about it later you guys didn't know it was closed. Still didn't get my money back

Very interesting tour, good detail but not too complicated. A real eye opener. A must do on any visit to Madrid

Very good audio tour in selected language. Unlimited time to complete as you wander around the Bull Ring. Lots of construction caused sections to be inaccessible and metal grinders interfered a bit with audio. Museum at end was fascinating and not time limited.
Anthony_S, Apr 2025
It was a very informative and interesting audio guided tour. Helped you understand the culture and experience really helps you get a feel and better understanding for bullfighting.

learning history of Bullfighting & being on ground level of arena. Enjoyed how President awards ears & tail trophies
Ajbeaber_B, Sep 2024
Great self guided audio tour. Great ticket price. Easy to do in an hour and super easy to access from the Metro station….right outside the stop :). Lots of fun photo opportunities. A perfect way to appreciate more of Spanish culture, without attending an actual bullfight. Ole!
Christina_T, Jul 2024
Easy to get to from the Metro with interesting history. The tour includes audio to use at your own pace.
Chris_L, Jun 2024
Absolutely one of our best visits in Spain. History and understanding turned us from slightly antagonistic to wanting to watch a proper bullfight. Excellent experience from start to finish
Louise_K, Jun 2024
The tour is just long enough as it use to be. The audioguide tells you a clear story about the bullfighting.
Only the text at the viator website is a bit misleading: it says that the visit to the museum is included. But the museum is free: you don't need a ticket. Besides: the museum was closed for a couple of months becausenof restauration.

Great choice!! Fun for all ages. Engaging activities. Self guided audio tour in our language with headphones for each individual. Had fun AND learned a lot about this sacred bull ceremony.
Betty_C, Apr 2024
We had a great time visiting this Bullfighting Museum! We would love to come back for the actual bullfighting event.
MargaretAnn_B, Jan 2024
Great museum to pass a few hours.
It's an audio tour around the bullring and you can take some fun, interactive pictures after the visit
Annette_V, Nov 2023
The audio tour was done very well. Beautiful arena with an interesting history. The interactive part of the tour with Photo Booth and virtual reality was very enjoyable. We had a great time.

Amazing history lesson about bullfighting…so glad we went! The simulator was fun, but maybe wipe the head viewer off between people??
Joseph_Z, Oct 2023
The staff were great, the architecture was interesting and being able to enter the actual bull ring was great.
Rosina_H, Aug 2023
The Audio guide was comprehensive in all things regarding bullfighting from the fighters, the venue, the bulls and the many people who respectfully earn a living from it or benefit such as the poor who are fed. It even had a Wii app so you could be a matador with the cape. Doing this prior to attending the bullfight itself is a must to understand and appreciate the process and the traditions of it. I have no problem with bull fighting. It is a dangerous sport, the beast does not suffer and 1000s make a living from it.

Really interesting place to visit with good commentary throughout. Walk at your own pace. Definitely worth a visit. Viator are cheaper than the venue.
Glenn_G, Jul 2023
Learning the history was amazing and seeing the ring was so beautiful. Self guided tour was perfect.

This trip was fabulous. Had been to many actual bullfights but never done this tour. The history , the displays , the interactive parts were very informative . Being able to walk out into the arena was so exciting . I would recommend this tour as a must do in Madrid ! Well done Viator !!
Charles_W, Mar 2023
A wonderful building steeped in history and still being used today for the nations tradition of bullfighting. The tour gives you a good insight into the behind scene of bullfighting. Definitely recommend the tour with audio to get the full history.
MaryM_M, Mar 2023
Excellent tour of the bullring! We learned so much about the history, cultural and artistic significance, and logistics of the sport.
You can show up anytime during opening hours and tour the facility with your audio guide; so it’s very flexible.
We highly recommend for anyone in Madrid!

Nancy_L, Dec 2022
Fun experience. Audio guided tour that was very informative. Would have enjoyed a live tour so we could ask questions. But this was well organized and interesting.
MARIADELCARME_G, Nov 2022
Loved all especially the museum. It was wonderful to see sll the different bullfighter clothes, trajes de luces and “capotes”
Jan_S, Sep 2022
This tour was a lot of fun, and very interesting. There was more to see and do than we expected. We actually did a 3D virtual matador sequence with goggles, with a bull in the bullring! It was so realistic. We also got our photos taken, and our heads put on the bodies of matadors. It looked so real our friends thought we were really in the ring! This is a self-guided audio tour, which worked well. The audio portion made it easy to tour the museum and bullring, in a step-by-step process. We learned a great deal about the history of bullfighting, and the impact this has had on the Spanish culture. The entire tour was fascinating.

Arrived for 10 to be told that it's actually not opening till 11. Kept being sent to different places to try and exchange my viator voucher. When I eventually got into the place it was great, such a good place to see. However as I was taking photos in the arena someone turned the sprinkler on and absolutely soaked my drenching my phone. No Apology or anything. At the end I was rushed out as they obviously has some event on.
Jillian_H, Jul 2022
Great way to learn about the history of bullfighting without having to actually go to one! Self guided and at your own pace. Definitely recommend.
frank f, Nov 2019
the show was amazing, full to capacity, everyone on there feet screaming OLE, it was phenomenal, very orderly, when buying tickets ensure you have tickets to see the bullfight not only the guided tour.
olansky2019, Oct 2019
Waste of time and money to go inside during this time of the year. Unfortunately, everyone have to earn money (Viator & Las Ventas) and tourist where not informed beforehand that there is nothing to see because there is a huge tent being built in the middle of the bull fight ring. Not worth it.
