Richard was an outstanding guide with an encyclopedic knowledge of all things Churchill and many other bits of history covering a wide range of topics. The tour is a little fast-paced, but not strenuous. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in Winston Churchill or British history.

The first half of the tour gave us a personal guide to the life of winston churchill. We saw the the buildings he lived in as a child, and later as an adult. Our guide was obviously an expert on the man, and he could answer any question we had. The second half of the tour was a self-guided, audio tour of the war rooms themselves.

This is an excellent way to learn about the life of one of the most pivotal men who has ever lived. The guide was exceptional and provided us with a wealth of information. We spent several hours walking seeing where Churchill spent his life and heard so many amazing stories. By the time we arrived at the Churchill War Rooms, we felt very prepared to understand the significance of the museum. Highly recommend!

It was the best tour we took in London!
Richard was excellent and owner of Richards Tours.
Tour guides are not allowed inside, and you use their audio prepared tour. Areas can be small, cramped and slow but it's worth it. Please study the layout of the "museum'. We found the layout confusing. If two or more are touring together, have a meeting plan, if one or more view at different rates. Inside the War Rooms passages, there will be not communications via text, etc. If one person leaves before the others, there is no reentry to meet up.

Just to clarify for other readers of the review, my tour is a 2.5 hour tour of Winston Churchill's Life and Career through the places he lived, worked and shopped, and I finish at the War Rooms where I leave my clients to enjoy the former Top Secret bunkers used by Churchill. (Tickets included in tour price)

We booked a private tour with Richard to learn the intricacies of Churchill’s London experience. Richard contacted us before the tour about any special needs we may have and wonderfully tailered the walking tour to our frailties. He had great anecdotes and took us to shops Churchill frequented. We had some great discussions and my husband, a Churchill and WWII buff, was thrilled. And the War Rooms exceeded all expectations! We highly recommend this fabulous experience.

Richard did a fabulous job of giving a real glimpse into the life of Winston Churchill. It’s a walking tour of places he lived, shopped and governed from. Luckily it was a nice day for a 2 hour walk around London…and then capped off with the tour of Churchill’s War Rooms. It was nice that this part was a self tour…you could spend as much time as you liked. There’s a lot to see in the bunker so be prepared to spend a good bit of time there. I would highly recommend this tour…especially if you are a Churchill aficionado!!! Thanks Richard!

Richard was very knowledgable of all facts pertaining to Churchill. In my interpretation of the tour - I thought we were going to have Richard along side while inside the War Rooms. If you are looking for that experience, you may need to research other options. Richard was very enjoyable and some other fun tips that we learned along the way were pretty cool.

The tour guide, Richard, was fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable and excellent delivery. We really enjoyed the walking tour and learned so much more than we expected. Richard was a fantastic storyteller and gave us a lot of information that we didn't know about Winston Churchill and a smattering of others along the way. As he greets you, he asks what you are looking to learn and where you are from, and he caters his narrative to your needs/wants. He got us into the War Rooms easily and because he gave us so much information during the walk, we didn't get overwhelmed taking in all the information at the War Rooms.
I highly recommend this private experience with him and like others have mentioned, he makes you feel as if you are walking and talking with a friend, rather than just a tour guide.
