Great pre-guide communication with both Jack and Tim, our guide. During our tour, Tim gave in-depth explanations and insights of the whole exhibit and the pieces within the exhibits, where they came from and how they made their way to the British Museum.

Our guide, Jack, was one of the best we have ever had. His enthusiasm was infectious. We could see and hear his love for not only The British Museum but for history. It was really a pleasure to tour the museum with him. He asked if we wanted to see anything in particular, we did, and he made sure that we saw all of them plus things we didn’t even know we would love.

Betsy, my guide was great. I had been to the museum a decade ago without a guide, poked around and read a bunch of the plaques. But Betsy guided me through the exhibits giving historical perspectives, sequencing the events depicted in the exhibits, adding history of the collection of the artifacts as well. She really enhanced the experience. We had a coffee/tea together at the end and she offered information and tips for travel and destinations in London in general. Excellent experience.

Jack’s knowledge and experience from Yorkshire Archaeology was extra nice for nerds like me. The museum is laid out like a World History textbook. Many incredible things acquired in the 18th and 19th century from the Empire.

The most impressive and complete museum in existence when it comes to the history of the world. From the Rosetta stone to the parthenon marbles, import and numerous artifacts from nearly every civilization for the last 6000 years are on display. Laurence was an ideal guide so that we got the best overview possible in a few hours. He engaged with every member of our party and added context and commentary which made the collection approachable. If you don't do anything else in London, do this.

Claire met us right on time, skipped us past the long entry lines, and then gave a very knowledgeable tour through the museum. You could visit without a guide. BUT you would never get exposed to so many galleries before getting exhausted/overwhelmed at the breadth. Claire pointed out key items, explained their history and moved us along.. She added in post tour restaurant suggestions also.

Outstanding tour! As others have said Jack (our tour guide) is a wealth of knowledge and is great at sharing. He kept us moving and brought the historical timeline into perspective. One thing to note for those who might be effected, only 2 rooms in the museum are air conditioned. Several are very warm as the temperature was unseasonably warm outside.
