Our guide, Jack, provided a superior experience in this large and historic museum. Jack was extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic and prepared. He not only provided us with the explanations of the objects we viewed, but also their historical context. Jack shared very insightful perspectives about the historic, social and current context of each item, as well as the museum as a whole. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to and learning from this wonderful guide!
The guide was truly outstanding. He clued into our interest in specific areas and we had good wide ranging discussions.. and as a former tour guide, this really was fabulous. He was extremely familiar with the contents of the museum and steered us mostly away from the very crowded areas. It was best to do this tour first thing in the morning. One of the best tours I have ever taken
Love the tour! Guide Kaare was great. Many details you would otherwise miss without a guide. Highly recommend.
Re British Museum itself: hot and crowded but worth seeing so many pieces.
The tour guide was amazing. He shows us the basics and the hidden gems. Fantastic amount of history. It was quite warm in the museum so please. Be aware. However I strongly recommend a private guided tour. Well worth it. The museum is free of course but finding your way through the exhibits is quite a challenge.

During our tour, Tim gave in-depth explanations and insights of the whole exhibit and the pieces within the exhibits, where they came from and how they made their way to the British Museum.

Our guide, Jack, was one of the best we have ever had. His enthusiasm was infectious. We could see and hear his love for not only The British Museum but for history. It was really a pleasure to tour the museum with him. He asked if we wanted to see anything in particular, we did, and he made sure that we saw all of them plus things we didn’t even know we would love.
Jack is an excellent guide and gave us a wonderful guided tour at the British Museum. It was definitely worth doing.

Betsy, my guide was great. I had been to the museum a decade ago without a guide, poked around and read a bunch of the plaques. But Betsy guided me through the exhibits giving historical perspectives, sequencing the events depicted in the exhibits, adding history of the collection of the artifacts as well. She really enhanced the experience. We had a coffee/tea together at the end and she offered information and tips for travel and destinations in London in general. Excellent experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed our bespoke tour with Betsy. She made sure that we hit all the highlights and was available to answer our questions along the way. All four people in our group highly recommend!

Jack is very knowledgeable and provided the best tour I have experienced in London. We asked to concentrate on a few areas of the museum and he accommodated us as well as showing us the rest of the museum. I would definitely take this tour again
Jack’s knowledge and experience from Yorkshire Archaeology was extra nice for nerds like me. The museum is laid out like a World History textbook. Many incredible things acquired in the 18th and 19th century from the Empire.
Jack was a fantastic guide. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We kept a decent pace moving through the museum, even with the crowds in the way. Jack was able to position us in the best possible views of the collection and have an incredible and detailed description of the artifacts on view.
John was a wealth of knowledge and was very familiar with the museum. He did a great job explaining the exhibits and relating the content to history. Highly recommend

The most impressive and complete museum in existence when it comes to the history of the world. From the Rosetta stone to the parthenon marbles, import and numerous artifacts from nearly every civilization for the last 6000 years are on display. Laurence was an ideal guide so that we got the best overview possible in a few hours. He engaged with every member of our party and added context and commentary which made the collection approachable. If you don't do anything else in London, do this.
Excellent presentation of the beginning of civilization and progress through the renaissance. Grandchildren were truly fascinated with the guide.
Claire’s knowledge of the British Museum made our first ever visit very very special. She knew ever room, guided us effortlessly ensure high points were identified and explained. A perfect afternoon experience!
Claire met us right on time, skipped us past the long entry lines, and then gave a very knowledgeable tour through the museum. You could visit without a guide. BUT you would never get exposed to so many galleries before getting exhausted/overwhelmed at the breadth. Claire pointed out key items, explained their history and moved us along.. She added in post tour restaurant suggestions also.
The private tour with Andrew was perfect. He knew everything about the museum and told very interesting stories. He kept us interested and excited the entire time. He was very accommodating to our needs. I can’t imagine a better experience. Highly recommend this tour especially with Andrew.
Tim was an excellent guide. He asked if I had any preferences and offered breaks as needed. He showed me a great sampling of the museum and shared his deep knowledge of it.
Jack had a great personality and was very knowledgeable with everything in the museum. Would definitely recommend and even book with him again on other tours.
Outstanding tour! As others have said Jack (our tour guide) is a wealth of knowledge and is great at sharing. He kept us moving and brought the historical timeline into perspective.
One thing to note for those who might be effected, only 2 rooms in the museum are air conditioned. Several are very warm as the temperature was unseasonably warm outside.
Jack perfectly tailored our tour to our interests. He was amazingly insightful and had a good sense of humor.
Jack's Knowledge about the Museum was Amazing! Could never have done it without him. I do think it's better with a Private tour. You wouldn't get the details in a group.
