Had an excellent tour and experience. My guide, Emmanuel, was knowledgeable and very personable. Great communication throughout, both pre- and post tour. Would definitely recommend.

Damiano was very personable and enthusiastic. He was also extremely knowledgeable across a broad range of topics. As he learned our interests he tailored the tour to us. He took us to see some old favorites plus introduced us to some items that were new to us as well. I highly recommend him and his tour

The guide on our tour was Damiano. He was extremely knowledgeable and eager to make sure that we had a good experience at the museum. In two hours, we were able to see all the main attractions, and he explained things well. The highlight of the tour was seeing the Rosetta Stone.

Giovani was a knowledgeable and engaging guide but unable to adjust his narrative for the audience.
The adults in our group learned a good amount and enjoyed the tour but the two young kids zoned out right away and took away little. A private guide should be better able to gauge the audience and tailor the talk track accordingly. A good script is important especially given museum’s size and limited amount of time, but a good idea would be to ask participants (especially young ones) which object they would like to learn more about. There were several points during the tour when we had to “translate” what we just learned from academic to kids language. Also I would expect a private guide to ensure that the entire group has assembled and is able to pay attention before sharing more information rather than proceeding to share more with whoever was around at the time. Voice projection and making sure a guide is at the right angle to the audience is also important when speaking in a noisy setting.
As for logistics, the directions were clear but I dislike when organizers assume that everyone in the world should use WhatsApp and automatically start routing customer communication there without ever advising customers in Viator. Some people don’t + there are good reasons to keep all communications to the Viator app to avoid misunderstandings and give the platform a chance to review and arbitrate if needed. Overall, solid experience for the adults in our group and mostly a write off for the other half.

I’m sorry that the tour did not meet your expectations for the younger members of your family. That said, I do feel it’s important to provide some context. Throughout the tour, Giovanni was repeatedly interrupted and challenged with claims that historical monuments such as the pyramids and the Parthenon were built by aliens or giants rather than according to established historical and archaeological evidence. This made it difficult for him to deliver the tour as intended and created an uncomfortable situation.
Regarding communication before the tour, your description is unfortunately not accurate. Our booking information clearly states that tickets, meeting instructions and meeting point photos may be sent by text message, email or WhatsApp, depending on the contact details provided by the guest. In your booking, only a phone number was provided, so we used that to ensure you received all the necessary information before the tour. Viator’s messaging system does not allow us to send tickets or meeting point images, which is why an alternative contact method is sometimes necessary. As soon as you requested that everything be sent by email, I did so immediately.
This is the process we have successfully used with thousands of guests, and this is the first time anyone has expressed dissatisfaction with it. Had an email address been available from the outset, I would have been happy to use it instead.
We always welcome constructive feedback, as it helps us improve our service. However, we also believe it is important that reviews accurately reflect the experience and the circumstances in which it took place.

Big Place. Lots to see. There can be a crowds so give yourself plenty of time to see everything. There are food and drink options but expensive.

Pedro did an excellent job for us on this tour. It was our first time to tour the Museum, and it would have been quite overwhelming without some structure. We had a great "highlights" expert tour, and then were able to walk around on our own afterwards to revisit some areas of interest. Highly recommend.

We arrived at the British Museum and met the company's coordinator. It appeared that he was going to give a tour, and two other employees were going to give tours that same morning. One of the tour guides was there when we arrived, and she engaged our young son in remarkable ways. However, she was assigned to another gentleman, and when that gentleman arrived, they left for their tour. Our guide was 10 minutes late, and although he was a pleasant person, it didn't seem like he had been informed about the pre-tour communications our family had with the tour operator. Namely, we wanted a tour of the highlights and would be with our five-year-old son. My partner and I are educators, so we were able to help the tour guide engage our child, but it was clearly not the guide's strength (versus the tour guide we had met earlier that morning). Further, it was clear that the tour guide had not been informed that we wanted to see highlights. He spent more time than expected in a single gallery look at church items, which limited our time to see other galleries in the museum. When we asked him to speed things up a bit and move onto other portions of the museum that a) we wanted to see and b) would engage our son, he was responsive to our feedback. Further, it didn't seem like he had spent much time in the museum, and he acknowledged he had only been a guide for 2 months. Again, he was generous with his time (and was willing to go over the specified duration), but his navigation of the museum could have been approved with pre-planning or experience.

I'd like to clarify one important factual point for future guests. We did not receive any pre-tour communications requesting a customised itinerary or specific galleries to prioritise. Our guide therefore began with our standard British Museum Highlights tour, exactly as advertised. As soon as you mentioned that you would prefer to move more quickly through certain sections, he immediately adapted the tour to your preferences.
Regarding the short delay at the meeting point, unfortunately London's public transport can occasionally be unpredictable despite our guides allowing plenty of travel time. To ensure you received the full experience, your guide extended the tour beyond its scheduled duration at no additional cost.
We genuinely appreciate all guest feedback and continuously use it to improve our tours. While we respect that experiences can differ from one guest to another, we also believe it is important to clarify the factual details of a visit for the benefit of future travellers.

Using a Viator tour guide to navigate and see the best of the best at the British Museum was priceless. Ely’s passion for history, delivery of stories, navigation of the museum and, love for being a guide is very obvious. We were lucky to have her lead our group in a tour today! I would definitely recommend the two hour tour of the British museum and request Ely if you want a memorable experience! Definitely worth the cost of the tour! The pre-trip communications of where to meet and what to expect was a pleasant surprise and made the entire event less stressful.

Elizabette was great! Very funny and informative. She navigated us through the museum and crowds with ease. Her narrative was very educational and easy to follow. She even took the time to try and keep my very tired and uninterested nine year old involved. I would definitely recommend this tour and Elizabette as your guide.

Our guide was wonderful. We were traveling with two children ages 5 and 7. She connected with them and kept them interested and engaged for over two hours and my wife and I learned a number of new facts even though we had just had a tour of the British Museum last November. Highly recommended!

We were able to squeeze a couple of hours in at the British Museum on our first day in London, with Damiano our guide. We had a wonderful time!! He was incredibly knowledgeable and detailed, and very patient with our many questions. And a reminder to always book a great guide for stops like the British Museum: we may have walked right by the Reading Room off the main hall, but Damiano took us there first - a place Ghandi, Karl Marx, Virginia Wolf and scores of others spent time in over the decades. It was fascinating. We had a great time and wish we could have spent a few more hours in the Museum! Our thanks to Damiano for his terrific work and getting our mini vacation off to such a fun start.
