The day begins with a morning or afternoon pickup at your Krakow hotel or a central meeting point, and a short drive in a minivan to reach the mine, located just 10 miles (16 kilometres) outside the city. In operation since the 13th century, the Wieliczka Salt Mine today has been visited by millions of people.

Trace the long, fascinating history of the mine as you descend almost 450 feet (135 meters) down the shaft, accompanied by an English-speaking guide. Be prepared for a considerable workout, as the touring route features a climb down 350 steps. Wander through a 1.9-mile (3-kilometer) labyrinth of tunnels that open into glittering chambers decorated with salt rock carvings and vast caverns filled with saline lakes. There is even an expansive chapel with salt statuary and chandeliers in this remarkable underground city.

Expect to spend a couple of hours exploring the mine’s cavernous, historical highlights while listening to your guide’s live commentary. An elevator shaft is available to whisk you back to the surface at the end of the tour, where a driver awaits to return you to your original Krakow departure point.

I wasn't looking forward to this trip but it was a fantastic,the Salt mines was very enjoyableand a very nice experience,a lot of steps down but wow what a view all the way down,great photos and a great trip well worth it.

Communication was excellent from the beginning to end. I was messaged with all the information and times I needed and kept informed until our drive picked us up. This was a very well organised tour and worth the money. Drive was prompt and picked us up from our hotel. He was very friendly and helpful. He talked about the local area and was very knowledgeable. His English was very extensive and clear. The journey to the mine was good and in a comfy mini bus. The drive took us into the mine and introduced us to our tour guide at the mine. The guide was clear, knowledgeable, funny and spoke very good and clear English. The tour vas very interesting and the mine was beautiful. At the end of the tour our tour guide took us back to where our driver was waiting and journey back was quick and comfortable. We were returned to our hotel. I highly recommend this company and this trip

The trip was confirmed by the tour operator the evening before with the time, meeting place and photo of the car that would pick us up. The driver did not show up. When we text the tour operator we we told that the driver is on his way. After additional wait time we contacted the tour operator and we were told that the trip needed to be rebooked for a later time. We could not do it and did not go to Wieliczka.

The Salt mine is a well worth experience to learn the history of the area which supported the full country. The tour guide was passionate and proud to show us around and explain in detail the history and relevance. If I return to Krakow I would do the tour again. Excellent

This was way better than expected!! The tour operator text me the night before the tour to confirm pick up time and location which was great. The salt mine is just wonderful. You start off walking down about 370 steps. Thankfully there is a small lift to take you back up rather than walking. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The passages are really narrow and long. It’s amazing what they have in the mine. Definitely recommend this tour. Was very easy and no hassle whatsoever.

I booked the tour of the salt mine with Viator. I found them to be great communicators and they were very punctual picking us up at our chosen location. The tour itself lasted over 2 hours and was absolutely fascinating. My only complaint was that we had a lot of difficulty hearing the commentary from our guide, using the earphone and equipment supplied. However, once we worked out that we just needed to stick close to her, we were able to hear her clearly without the need for the earphone. The salt mine is an amazing experience and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. I would never have expected to see the sights that I saw down a mine. I would thoroughly recommend both Viator and the tour to anyone.

Firstly wear comfortable clothing and shoes, it’s a lot of walking and there seemed to be a lot of climates in the mine. Our tour guide was very informative, some parts the signal cut out so it was difficult to hear but this didn’t bother us - we were in awe of the surroundings. We were picked up on time at the specified point by our driver Micky.

When booking this tour, I was under the impression that it was all connected. It's a pick up, walk into main gate, told to wait a moment, handed tickets, told to jump the line and meet you back at the van in 3 hours. The tour guide for our group spoke English but seemed disinterested. After the tour, the driver wanted to drop us off at one place. Fortunately, the guests protested and he followed through.
