Travel through each unique chamber with your guide, learning the history behind the centuries-old salt mine. Hear the legend of the Hungarian princess, Kinga, whose dowry included the salt mines when she married Boleslaw the Shy over 700 years ago. Explore the ornate Chapel of the Blessed Kinga, with altarpieces and chandeliers made from natural salt deposits, and visit an underground salt-mining exhibition.

The last stop on your visit to the mine is the souvenir shop and snack bar. From here, shoot back up to the surface in a high-speed lift, where you will be returned to your Krakow hotel.

Highly Recommended

Gordon_W, May 2025
A very well organised trip, even though there are around 800 steps to go down, it is well worth it, what an experience, one trip not to be missed.

Wonderful trip to the Salt Mine. Our driver was on time and very helpful. Highly recommend this company for a tour.

Great tour

Angela_O, Nov 2024
Our driver wasn't talkative, so thankfully it was a short van ride to/from. However, our guide AT the mines was amazing. She explained everything great and easily answered all our questions. The tour is quite a bit of walking, which we were totally OK with, but some in our group did not seem prepared for that. The mines and their history are very cool, and I would definitely recommend this tour, especially on a rainy or cold day.

There were a lot of people there and at times we were all huddled up or being pushed on by the tour guide behind us However the mine was good fun and the tour guide spoke very clear english and made it interesting

A MUST see Kraków

paul_j, May 2024
We had the most fantastic tour with a very knowledgeable tour guide. The salt mine is a MUST if you visit Kraków.

Yet another very well organised trip by 'Hello Cracow', a must-do trip while in Cracow

peterwajmnas, May 2024
After first experienced a great trip organised by 'Hello Cracow' to Auschwitz, yet another very well organised trip to the salt-mine with again very nice and professional people. Very impressive to walk the many stairs (down) and observe all the 'things to see' while being deep underground in the mine and meanwhile hearing all the great information on the history of the mine and its people. I was here before for a 'business event' but only visited one room or so, this trip was 100x better.

Impressive bilding

Oddvar_M, May 2024
The Cathedral in the bottom and all the stairs buildt all the way down. The guide was very impressive

Wieliczka Salt Mine Tour

Neil_B, Dec 2023
This is a great tour to learn about the salt mines and their history, and to see the main chapel with beautiful salt sculptures and carvings. Our tour guide, Gosia, was outstanding and made the whole experience really enjoyable.

Nightmare of a day

Sinead_D, Dec 2023
The tour company contacted us the evening before to communicate pick up time & we were told we would be back at 3pm. Our flight home was the same day & we had to leave for the airport at 5.30pm & had plans to do other stuff before we left. When the driver picked us up & brought us there, we were told that we were supposed to be doing our tour at 11.30am, but we had to actually wait until 1pm to do it. It was a two hour tour, which meant it was only finishing at 3pm. There are big queues for the lift back up to the main entrance & it takes some time to get there. Because of this; it was 5pm when we got back to the city centre. It messed up our other plans before heading to the airport. The tour itself, was cool to see the chapel made from salt, but apart from that, I didn’t think it was anything special or even that interesting.

Peter the driver was great, very friendly and flexible. The Salt Mines were fantastic, a must see at least once in your life, the guide Jac was really informative and kept the group engaged and moving.

The salt mine exceeded expectations. Amazing skills! Andrew, our driver, was very helpful getting us the tickets & waiting for us exactly at the spot where the tour ended. He was a very polite & efficient young man.

A must to visit...totally unbelievable what was achieved many years ago..pre technology and not a degree in sight, just skill past down

Transport miscommunication but amazing experience overall

Joanne_K, Apr 2023
A fantastic experience but the transport logistics could have been better. We were told a pickup location and time, twenty mins later still no sign of the transport. Rang up the number and it turns out the coach was waiting on a completely different street. No communication about this. That said, the actual salt mines were incredible. We had a fantastic tour guide and it was fascinating. A LOT of steps in quite a confined space to get into the mine, so perhaps wouldn’t recommend for people who are claustrophobic.

Holiday trip to Salt Mines

Jacquie_H, Jan 2023
We were collected exactly on time and driven to the Salt Mines by our driver. He drove well and the car was very clean and comfortable. He then explained to us what to do and gave us our tickets. We had a fantastic time and the Salt Mines are fascinating and very interesting to feel that you are so far below the ground. Our English speaking guide was excellent. The driver was waiting at the agreed meeting place and we were taken back to our hotel. It was wonderfully easy and can thoroughly recommend the 3-4 hours it takes.

Great Experience

Chrissy_F, Jul 2022
We were amazed by the beautiful carvings created the talent the whole experience was fabulous and the walkways and steps easily accessible. Our tour guide was very experienced and very knowledgeable.

Don’t go !

Randy_K, Jul 2022
Horrible your a real waste of time - you could not understand one word that the guide said. The tour seemed endless- most of the time you were just walking through old mine shafts. Very claustrophobic even for someone who is not claustrophobic!!

A must see

Marianne_B, Jul 2022
Could I give one more star, this trip is worth it. Fun guide and beautiful place with great stories.

Salt mine amazing

Enjoyable journey

AnaSofia_R, Nov 2021
Really enjoyed this experience, such an expansive and interesting mine. The fresh air is great for soothing respiratory conditions such as asthma. There’s even a surprise in the middle! This was complimented by the humour and knowledge of our guide Simon. Overall really enjoyable journey through the history of the salt mine!

Response from Host, Nov 2021

This tour was great. The salt mine was amazing to see and we really enjoyed learning about it and seeing it.

Great half day visit

Elaine_M, Oct 2020
Pickup was on time and was by car instead of bus due to current covid restrictions and low number of visitors. Our driver was Jack and during the 30 minute drive to the Salt Mines, he shared information about Krakow and the mines. He was a breath of fresh air, informative, knowledgeable and he really enhanced our trip. Fabulous guide. Entry to the salt mines was smooth after hand sanitation and temperature check and Jack had the tickets organised. Trip inside the mine lasted around 2 hours, a few unexpected sights inside, worth the visit. Lots of walking and lots of stairs going down so need to be relatively mobile. Not claustrophobic in any way, some low ceiling heights but not an issue unless very tall and walkways were wide. Amazingly we could still access 4G on our phones despite being so far underground. Cafe and gift shop underground and also gift shop on surface level at exit point. Cash machine and toilet facilities on entry and more toilet facilities at 2 points underground. Driver Jack was waiting for us on exit as promised. Would definitely recommend as half day trip out of the city. Picked up at 8.30 and back in Krakow for 1.00pm.

Great Experience not to be missed

Emma_B, Sep 2020
This is definitely one the best attractions I have ever visited. Tour guide was excellent and the the mine is beautiful - a real must if you travel to Kraków.

Something different

Jackie_N, Aug 2020
This tour is well organised and interesting. It’s nice to be snow to walk through the mine and to imagine what the conditions the actual miners worked in. Our tour guide was a little direct at times to to the point I felt like I was on a school trip. What made out tour more interesting was the facts given to us by our driver Jacek, he was very informative but delivered his facts in a friendly manner.
