Monica was a great guide.
Very knowledgeable and kept the tour moving at a good pace.
Doing the toboggans first was a great option as there were no queues and the driver picked us up at the bottom to take us back to the gardens where we spent a couple of hours. The cable car down was a great way to finish the tour.
We had a great time on the trip and it was timed to perfection so that you didn’t have to queue for the toboggan ride or the cable car, which both had massive queues later in the morning. Both the coach driver and our guide, Monica, were excellent. Her knowledge of the places we visited was second to none. It was a good balance of activities and you had the option to explore by yourself if you wanted to. We thoroughly enjoyed all parts of the trip, especially the toboggan. If you want to visit Monte, toboggan and do a cable car ride then this the trip for you.
Fantastic tour! Just know that even though it is listed as a 2-4 hour tour, it was definitely a half day (4+ hours) event. I was flying out the same day, so I was a little stressed about getting to the airport in time.
Provider didn’t show up to pick us up. After waiting 30 mins I realised they sent a message through the app that the pickup will be at a different spot and 20 minutes earlier than the tour is advertised. I’ve had changes with other operators and they always confirmed you got the message until you acknowledged. So this was ridiculous.
I was 20 minutes early, but almost got left behind at the meeting point as there were no clear instructions about the vehicle/driver/guide like I had experienced with other activities I booked through Viator. However the guide Graca called me and she and the driver were gracious enough to return to collect me.
Although the app itinerary was to take the cable car to visit the garden first then return to Funchal via the optional toboggan ride Graca's many years of experience guided us in a different order. So to miss the long toboggan ride queues later in the day we were taken there first, driven to the tropical garden, then cable car ride to Funchal with the option to explore further on your own or return to your meeting point.

The tour of the gardens was lovely. Wear shoes that are comfortable in uneven terrain. The garden tour and tram ride are included, the downhill basket ride is not. it is super fun, though. Luckily, because my name was on her list, our tour guide paid for our entrance fee to the gardens. My phone ticket was not recognized at the entrance. So, do not try to enter without the tour group. The pina colada in a pineapple at a kiosk about halfway through the tour is really good, if you like that sort of thing.
The gardens were spectacular, with many interesting features and plants. Our excellent, informative and attentive guide made sure that we got to see everything Good value for money.

Fantastic beautiful tropical place although the trip was quite rushed with the tour guide rushing around her part.

Awful trip. Do not go if you have elderly in your party. It does not state unsuitable for elderly or that the whole garden is on a tiered system with many steps or slopes. If you go to the bottom there is a truck ride back to the top for€5 each person. This is not expensive but not indicated in the trip description ( cash only). The amount of time we had to explore was1 hour& 50 minutes which was not enough as there are also 3 museums plus a cafe. Although the gardens were beautiful, I do not feel it was worth the money as we had so little time there. It was also a 6 hour trip from pick up to drop off at hotel to include Toboggan ride & cable car back down to Funchal.

We booked the trip via Viator but got transferred to Tui and we weren’t told as we couldn’t get any messages on our phones.
