What a great experience. The tour was very informative and adventurous with a climb of the Duomo and then a hike around the terrace in the evening. Great pictures and the cherry on top was when the Keymaster locked the Duomo for the evening and allowed us to hold the keys.

Due to conditions inside the Duomo (463 steps and fairly narrow), wheelchairs, those with limited mobility or strollers, and anyone with claustrophobia cannot be accommodated on this tour.
This is a walking tour. Guests should be able to walk at a moderate pace without difficulty.

Children under 7 years old aren't allowed on this tour.
We ask all guests (including children) to bring their ID on the day of their tour.
Due to the religious nature of the Cathedral, all individuals regardless of gender must cover their shoulders and knees. Walks cannot be held responsible for those denied entry.
Flip-flops, slippers, clogs and shoes with heels are prohibited inside the Cathedral.
Your Duomo ticket is valid for 72 hours to explore the other Duomo monuments on your own: Opera Duomo Museum, Baptistery of San Giovanni, Crypt of Santa Reparata and Giotto's Tower.

Amazing tour

This is an evening tour of the Duomo, including not only the climb to the top of the dome, but also exclusive access to the terraces that are along the rooftop of the church. The tour includes wonderful interior and exterior views of the cathedral and dome, and beautiful views of the city of Florence. Our guide was super friendly, informative and hilarious. She had a vast knowledge of art, history and architecture. We were, as promised, the last group to leave the church. We got to experience the church as they shut off the lights for the night-amazing.

This was a great experience - 463 steps up to the top of the duomo (broken down in parts). It also covers the terraces and the inside (after closing) so very few / if any other people are inside. The key is to know this all going in. We had a group where some people didn’t know about the climb, or didn’t have proper attire (it is a duomo). I think there is confusion for what this tour is. It is a climbing tour - you will have to climb 463 stairs but the top is worth it - the guide was great - and the view from the terraces was also fantastic. My wife and I had a great time and enjoyed it. My recommendation on this would would be to enjoy in the spring or fall as the summer can get quite hot and potentially make the climb more complicated for some people in the group.

It was a little difficult finding the tour. With call to Viator and an amazing customer service agent, we found our tour. Our guide was knowledgeable beyond what is required for the tour. We walked to the top of the duomo and all the platforms surrounding the cathedral. Amazing views. So glad I took this tour - it also included a non-guided to the top of the bell tower.

It was a very cool experience and is great for both kids and adults. The terrace access and being in the church as the lights go out is fun. Definitely beats the crowds.

We did the evening climb of the Duomo Dome followed by our small group of 12 private tour of the cathedral. It was the most incredible experience. The views of Florence were amazing at the top and although it became crowded, we were in absolute awe of being able to see all of Florence. The terrace tour and views were also incredible. I went with my sister and 75 year old mum who needed to stop at the terrace level as she wasn’t feeling 100% and our guide Brenda, who was just so fabulous ensured she was looked after while we continued. The private cathedral tour was just so special. We are grateful to our guide Brenda for such an amazing family memory made.

Loved the Duomo. Very cool experience being the last people in the chapel, with lights off and then with the guards locking the doors. Guide was ok - would have liked to learn a bit more and had better communication. If you don't like heights or narrow spaces, don't do this! :)

Incredible experience- our favorite tour in Florence! We really enjoyed the opportunity to see the Duomo with fewer crowds both at the top and floor with a knowledgeable guide. We truly watched the guards lock up! Fascinating tour!
