We booked this tour last minute, wanting to learn more about the Florentine history that isn’t captured in the main museums. We were not disappointed. Vanessa, our tour guide, provided an overview of the Medici family tree so we’d have context before entering the chapels and walking to various landmarks throughout the city. She shared lots of insight into the family’s influence while also giving us some time to roam on our own. The information we gathered from this tour helped us to better appreciate the Palazzo Pitti which we visited later that day. If it’s your first time in Florence and you’re looking for a tour with a solid foundation of the city’s history (as influenced greatly by the Medici) this is the tour to book.

Very knowledgeable guide. She found ways to engage us through crowds of people and torrential rain. Given those challenges, she was able to impart history and a love of art. My only concern was logistical. It was difficult to understand a “voucher” vs a ticket. In the end the difference was meaningless. Viatour should be a bit clearer

Italian guides are usually extremely knowledgeable and able to take any tour and bring the historical context of the place and time with clarity and interesting tidbits of the subject matter. This was strictly a Medici tour. I learned more from our Uffizi guide, food and wine tour guide and Pitti Palace guide than I did on this 2.5 hour tour. Disappointing unfortunately.

I had a great tour with a great tour guide. I do not remember her name but was her last tour before becoming mother (congratulation). She gave us so many info about the Medici familia adding some interesting gossip of them. The cappelle medicee ste unbeliveble breathtaking.
