This excursion was honestly one of the highlights of our trip. The meeting point is a bit remote if you’re not in the designated pickup zone (we were staying in Sosúa), but it ended up being manageable. Our taxi driver found it by asking some locals, and the staff even helped arrange a ride back for us afterward, which was super helpful.
The horseback ride starts with about 15 minutes through a lightly wooded area on a very clear, easy-to-follow path. Then you open up onto the beach—and that’s where it really becomes something special. The scenery was stunning. It genuinely felt like being in a movie.
There’s a stop along the beach where you can grab food or drinks. My friends and I opted for drinks and got to hang out, take in the views, and even go into the water with the horses, which was such a cool experience.
One of the best parts was the photographer (Lolo) who comes along for the entire ride. You do have to pay extra for the photos, but they came out amazing and were 100% worth it in my opinion.
The crew was incredible—so attentive and thoughtful, especially when it came to people’s comfort levels. I had no horseback riding experience and was a little nervous, but they paired me with a very calm, well-trained horse that knew exactly what to do. Honestly, I barely had to guide it—it knew where to go, when to stop, and even how to pose for photos. It made the whole experience feel really safe and enjoyable.
One thing to note: we went in March, which is part of the rainy season, so there were some muddy patches along the trail. It actually added to the fun, but just be prepared—you’ll probably get a little dirty by the end.
Overall, I would absolutely recommend this to anyone. It’s beautiful, beginner-friendly, and just such a fun, memorable experience—even if you’re a little nervous like we were.

1st of all, they found us at the resort. Super glad this wasn’t an ordeal. I thoroughly enjoyed the beach view. Both tour guides were conscientious of my 77 y/o Mom. Can’t say enough about Alexis. Very knowledgeable and kind to the horses. Best Pina Colada I’ve ever had. Fresh chunks of pineapple. Ahhhh so good. Black diamond was an amazing horse. My niece was so happy with the tour. My Mom had a nice time. Yes, it was well worth the time. Great experience. Photographs taken by photographer came out really nice as well.

It was absolutely perfect! Myself, my 8 year old daughter and my childhood friend traveled an hour by taxi to experience this treasure. The horses were well trained and cared for. The trainers Alex and Angel were so kind and funny. They made the experience well worth it! We are from Florida and we booked prior to arrival and we are so glad we did. Met some really nice people to in our group.

The sunset horseback ride was memorable and the guides were friendly. As a beginner, the horses seemed well-trained and simple to give commands. It was an enjoyable experience and a lovely vista.
The reason for lower rating is because the listing said that it included dinner on the beach while watching the moon come up, which my partner and I were looking forward to. However, no dinner was provided. When I reached out to the tour operator asking for a refund only for the dinner portion, the operator did not respond until I said I would need to dispute with my credit card if I didn't hear back. That prompted an immediate response, where the operator said that the cost used to be higher but because of COVID the dinner was dropped and the price reduced. However, the listing did not say that. I asked others on the trip if they expected dinner, and they said no but that they had paid less than me. I was asking only for a refund of the difference between those prices. After brief communication, the operator stopped responding and has not responded for several days.

This was a great experience. My wife had wanted for years to horseback ride on the beach. Horses were great, staff was great. Best part for me was dinner on the beach. Very elegant and way beyond my expectations.

A MUST !!! very accommodating and professional. at first when calling for our pickup, they state they didn't pick up at our resort Wyndham tangerine but was called back and gave us a price that couldn't be matched our driver was MONFRED, we absolutely love him!! and will miss his charm and laughter and of course his singing with us. the guides brought us to prepared horses suitable for each, mine was feisty. it was a nice ride along the sunset beach then rode to this long dirt road to nowhere to swim with the horses, greeted by a family and brought back some shells and necklaces, had some amazing rum, folks were very respectful. after the swim we had the bumpiest of rides kind of scary but was very protected by the motorbike entourage it was dark and thought we were going to die HAHA nope we finally made it to the main road. we were all picked up and went to this road side bar and in the back was a beautiful table set up for 6 and served and amazing dinner as they lit a bonfire,,, ALL IN ALL there were no highlights as it was amazing the entire evening, from Monfred our pickup and drop off to the horse ride beachside and sunset to our swim and rum.. then the fabulous most delicious meal we have had during vacation. THANK YOU this a MUST EXCURSION. the only excursion needed,.....

This was one of our highlights of our recent Caribbean holiday and was the best excursion we have been on whilst on holiday.
After a ride along a sun kissed beach and a ride in the sea with the horses we sat down to a freshly cooked meal and drinks to watch a beautiful sunset over the bay.
The horses were matched to your riding abilities and were well looked after watered when we were ! and well behaved.
The owner Sylvie and our guide Ramos were nice and pleasant and ensured we had a pleasant evening.
Would highly recommend booking this excursion if you ever find yourself in Puerto Plata.

Amazing TOUR. I took it last year. The horses are well taken care of. The owners are really nice and speak different languages. You are on the horse for a long period of time so make sure you are comfortable. The food they made for us on the beach was amazing and fresh. The campfire was amazing and calming. The relaxing on the beach was great. They take the horses in the water with you for photo ops which was really cool. It was one of the best tours and experiences I've ever had! I would recommend this tour to anyone and everyone!

This was a fantastic experience start to finish. We had a great ride along the beach and after a break went for a swim with the horses. Our Guides were friendly and helpful. We went during March break we had read other reviews and brought bug spray but for us it was not necessary. We enjoyed a simple but great meal of chicken, fish potatoes and salad with a drink and lanterns and a bonfire on the beach. Really does not get better.
As a side note my wife is an experienced rider and was happy to the horses were in great shape.

This was absolutely incredible. I had never ridden before so I was given an older very well behaved horse who responded quite well to my riding skills! The ride along the beach was great - although I will say that the beach wasn't always the cleanest but that certainly had nothing to do with the tour itself. After the approximately hour long ride we arrived at the 'restaurant' which was literally a metal shack on the beach. We were then given the opportunity to ride into the ocean on our horses - bareback! Surprisingly enough I did not fall off lol. As I mentioned, my horse was amazing. Then we sat down to wine, rum and coke, and a wonderful meal by candlelight which consisted of chicken, fish, rice and salad. All of the cooking was done over an open fire in the shack I mentioned earlier. There was no electricity whatsoever, it was candlelight and lanterns and a bonfire.
This was our honeymoon trip, and we did a couple of excursions and of course stayed at a wonderful resort but honestly this is something that I'm going to remember for many years to come and if we ever end up back in the Dominican we will definitely be doing this again! Many many thanks to our host, and guide, and 'chefs' for giving us an experience that was so incredibly unique.

Best part of the entire trip! And the dinner was better than any of the food we had on our resort. Great experience! Wear pants and bring plenty of bug spray.

fun experience for new riders - the views of the sugarcane fields and walking along the beach on gentle horses was a great new way to explore DR.
Sylvia, the ranch owner, is so delightful and sweet - definitely take a tour with her!

Was hands down the best part of our vacation. Went on a girls trip for 5 days to Puerto Plata and one of my friends and myself have extensive experience with horses including owning them and made sure to do it on vacation. We were picked up at the hotel on time by the owner of the company who is a lovely woman, and taken on the bus to a parking lot where you are given helmets my friend and I politely declined and you then walk on the beach for about 3 minutes to the barn where the horses are tacked up and waiting. I did not give an advance on having experience with horses recommend and encourage if you have true HONEST experience so we were given the regular hacks. I did not mind at all, all the horses were lovely and due to his calm nature I was able to watch my beginner friend more closely. We did tell the owner about two of us having experience and she went out of her way to make sure we had a great time. We galloped on the beach a few times away from the rest of the group which I was ecstatic about. It was AWESOME! Before it got dark we were allowed to go swimming with the horses! Wear your bathing suit because you go waste deep while your horse swims in the water.Again, it was awesome! After riding we had a really nice sit down barbecue by a bonfire and talked with the owner and the others on the ride. We shared rum and cokes while waiting for dinner to be ready. The view from the table is so relaxing and makes you never want to leave. The food is authentic and delicious, much better than the resort food. We were allowed to leave when ever we wanted which ended up being around 8:30pm because we were caught up in conversation. The owner is one of the best riding stable owners I know. Her horses are taken care of extremely well and in amazing condition. Highly highly recommend!
