The horseback riding wee pretty fun. The tour boys are very knowledgeable and speak English fluently made the tour was so smooth. We love this horseback during better than the one we just took in Honduras. However, the reason I didn’t give full 5 stars because the location where to get/meer the horses is so not profesional

We wee picked up an a hot day by a guy who had no AC in his car. We were dropped off on the side of the road where two locals were standing under a tree with 4 horses. We rod the horses down this dirt road that eventually opened up to a beach. The horseback riding was barely an hour and most of the time was spent riding the horses to and back from the beach. We maybe spent 20 min riding on the beach.

The Viator sign was never displayed. I had to call out for Viator through a large group of people. The driver did not know how to speak English. It rained horribly, we were soaked from head to toe, the tour went on. After the horseback ride through the beach, we stopped at a place that did not have running water to wash off the mud or a working toilet. Waste was handled with a bucket. Very disappointing and unsanitary.

Really sweet, gentle horses. The boys that took us on the trip were professional and very kind. The piña colada pineapple on the beach was delicious.

When the driver you’ve met up with outside port gates stops along side of road and says “this is it” do not be afraid. Truly the horses do come and all works well.

The three hour ride is really an hour and a half. One hour is set aside for travel to and from where the horses are. Another half and hour or more is for them to stop at the tourist trap where locals attempt to sell you food, drinks and trinkets. I was not happy with the tourist trap stop to sell me things. A photographer rides with you and then they try to sell you photos of the trip for an outrageous price.

Having never been to Puerto Plata before, it would have been good to be given instructions on where to go to be picked up. It is a long walk from pier to pick up point (which we eventually found). Transportation was two vehicles for our group and they had to split up a family. Not appropriate for an excursion. The guides where very helpful getting people on and off the horses, but other than that, we had to share the path with dune buggy type vehicles which made the path for the horses much harder. it was a slow ride and no stretch to run the horses. Got a nice photo on the beach with the horses, but the rest stop at the beach is far too long. An hour with no real facilities. It is a shame to see the trash, empty water bottles and litter all over the ground.

The communication was excellent initially… I received instructions via whatsapp the week before; the day before; and the morning of the tour. One hour before meeting for the tour, I was told the driver was waiting for us. Six minutes later I was told the tour was canceled due to weather. This weather was rain during the previous day, not something that had just happened. If I was told sooner we could have found another activity to replace it. Instead, we were left hanging.
The good thing was they issued a refund quickly.

Great experience! Argentis and Hans were wonderful and very attentive! It was a bit hard to find the driver and I was told different places for pick up by the people at the port stores but I finally met up with the driver . I try to horseback ride whenever I travel . I am not professionally trained but for the most part have no fear and can hold my own on a horse .
My ship arrived later than the original excursion time an I was accommodated.
We met my guides after a 20 minute car ride and although it wasn’t a typical ranch setting , I felt comfortable. It was pretty muddy from the rain but once we made it to the ocean, it was glorious! I had probably one of my favorite excursions of all time ! I am returning in a few months and if my friend doesn’t need me in Puerto Plata, I will be rebooking this same excursion ! The muddy shoes and backpack were Sooo worth it ! Thank you for an awesome adventure!

This was the highlight of my pleasant, though brief, visit to Puerto Plata on a cruise. I was so scared to get on the horse because I've never ridden a horse before, but our tour guides made us feel comfortable with their steady assurances that we would be fine and their simple instructions. We rode for about 20 mins until we came to the beautiful beachside, where our guide took photos of us. I am really proud of myself for learning a new skill. I would highly recommend this tour, even if you are having hesitations about your ability. This was really fun & peaceful.

It was an experience. We started the tour by hopping on the horses with no platform. The tour guides were young and did their job in taking us through on a dirt road and then on the beach. We rode to a hut on the beach for drinks and then were swarmed by men trying to sell jewelry out of suitcases. We were not provided with helmets while another horse tour rode by with them on. I felt bad for our horses. They were thin and my husband’s horse had an abrasion under his breast collar that was rubbing raw. My horse seemed lethargic and never picked his head up. The boys worked hard to make the experience enjoyable by taking pictures. I hope the horses will be taken better care of in the future.

My girlfriend's very first time on a horse. She got to walk and trot with a very gentle horse. Walking on the beach and trails through the countryside, walking though puddles and on the thick sand was a great experience!

The scenery on the beach was beautiful. But that’s about all that was good. The horses were thin. There was a photographer who took pictures. He never smiled and the pictures were subpar and very expensive. Very disappointed but made the best of it.

Overall this is an enjoyable activity. Unfortunately there is a lot of trash along the way and on the beach, but that's no fault really of the vendor. Be sure to wear long pants and sneakers.

The horses were great... But everything else I would not want to experience again. Felt unwelcome, unsafe, and taken advantage of. I really wanted to love this experience, but there were so many cons to this that out weighed the good. I'm sorry... I would never recommend this experience.

The pickup from the cruise ship was perfect! We had a very small group, four of us and three guides. A really long, easy walk through woods and beach. At the beach we treated the horses and could get drinks and food cooked on the beach! That was great!! Take cash for that.

I am so glad I did this! We were definitely hesitant upon arrival, but ended up having one of the best days ever! It started off with some difficulty finding my transportation, a little uncertainty with the area, dumping rain, mud, wet horses, wet kids, and a whole lot of why did I do this.. Thankfully I did not turn around and go back to the ship ( it was very close) but soon enough, the sun was shining and we were galloping horses on the beach. The tour guides were wonderful. One of our guides names was Hanz and he made us feel so comfortable. Allowed us an opportunity to trot and gallop and gave us some free time to grab a rum and Coke on the beach. I would recommend this tour for anyone looking to do something different, unique, and memorable. You will not regret it.

This was a great experience. The only drawbacks were the pictures showed riding horses on the beach. That didn't happen. We went to the beach, but it was just to get off and get something to drink. We went in December. I would not recommend that. It was the rainy season that there was lots of mud puddles. Our guide, Hantz, was very good. He took great care in making sure you were comfortable at all times. Everyone was very friendly. I would do this excursion again, just not during the month of December.

Our guide was amazing (young 20 year old man)! His dog (Memboy) was super! Memboy kept the trail clear for us and ran right with us the whole time! He even pushed cows off the trail for us! Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The wooded area had a lot of litter (as was noted by another review) but it was just trash washed up from storms. My horse Magi was super kind. My daughter's horse Troy was super lazy! We had a great time! This excursion is a definite do over for us! Our driver was safe, the car was super clean and well maintained. A+ experience!

Our guide took us to a trash filled wooded area to meet the horses, the saddles were worn out and Im sure wouldn’t pass a safety test. He then took us on these trails then down to the beach where we stopped at a shack n had a pina colada then he left with the horses and we had to find other transportation back to get a taxi back to the ship. This was an hour and 40 minutes after he left when he said he was going to be gone for 20 minutes. Tony, our contact was in communication with us and refunded half of our money and arranged transportation for us back to Amber cove . very shady sketchy company (the horse company, )Do not book this tour! We got rides back to our taxi stand by two young boys on ATVs and I was bawling my eyes out. The guy who drove us back to Amber Cove was very nice and worked for the dune buggy company that is connected to the horse company. Do not book this horseback adventure!

My family and I had a great time with our guides who were fun and kind. This was a memorable and authentic experience —after being dropped off at a farm by our driver, we rode from the farm through trails leading to a beach where we rode along the sand. Our wonderful guides fitted us to suitable horses based on skill level. I would do this again!

We had a great time, very safe and well organized. My 8yr old loved it. Bring lots of water and a few snacks and pack on the sunscreen! Bring cash for local crafts. You do stop once at a local village.
