This is an excellent opportunity to have a little taste of all things Cozumel: beach, tequila honey and chocolate tastings, Mayan dancing and food, black coral, sea turtles hatching. Our tour guide, Tio, was so knowledgeable about the island. He was very friendly and entertaining.
Reyes was an excellent driver and guide. He made sure we learned history, saw beautiful landmarks, and took lots of pictures.
We took this tour in July 2026, and it was our first disappointing excursion booked through Viator. Our tour guide was very friendly, but I felt that the "tour" part was lacking because he provided little information along the way, unless we asked questions. Even then, it was hard to hear his answers as the van had no speaker system. Worse, though, was that our tour did not really follow the itinerary/description outlined on Viator. Here's what we did and how it differed from the advertised itinerary (pic included in case this itinerary changes in the future), including positives and negatives of each stop:
* San Miguel de Cozumel: This was a nice relatively short stop at a small park where we took pictures and then visited a fruit stand. Definitely try the mango, coconut, and other fruit! It was fresh, delicious and very fairly priced. Wish we would have had more time to explore (and eat at) this stop.
* Otoch Mayan Experience: Our next stop on the tour took up the majority of our day. To start, we were entertained with a Mayan cultural ceremony/dance that was moving and entertaining to watch. The dancers played music and did an excellent job. No complaints. Then we had a tequila tasting, which was also a very good experience. The person presenting and helping us taste the tequila was fun and friendly and we never felt pressured to buy anything that we didn't want. However, that is where this part of the tour started to go wrong and ruined the rest of our day. We should have moved on next to the honey and chocolate tasting but, for some reason, another group moved ahead of us so we had to sit around waiting: First for lunch and then to finally do the tasting, which was very short and certainly should not have held us up. Again here, the gal running it was friendly and didn't push sales too hard but there weren't that many samples and it felt like this part could have been better. My biggest complaint about this tour was the lunch provided, which we received at this location and was not what was described in the itinerary. After waiting around doing nothing for a half hour, when lunch was finally served, we were told there was only pork--no fish, chicken or vegetarian option as advertised in the listing. This was a big disappointment for my group, as half of us do not eat pork and I myself would have preferred the fish option. Also, we did not receive a tortilla making "lesson," but you could watch the older woman in a hut making the tortillas.
* 45 min @ Playa Publica San Martin w/lunch: We did not stop at this beach club. To be fair, the driver asked but, due to the delay we experienced at Otoch, we were already running so far behind schedule that we didn't have time and the other people in our group voted for no stop. Lunch was advertised as being at this stop and maybe if it had been, we would have been given the advertised food options.
* 1.5 hr @ Palm Beach: We did end up at a beach and were told we would have 40 minutes there, instead of the advertised 1.5 hour. Some in my group felt that this wasn't enough time, so they didn't even bother getting in the water. The service at this beach was friendly, though, offering drinks and food for sale, and the beach itself was small but adequate for a quick swim. It also had a blow up in the water for kids to jump on or off of.
To summarize, mainly because of the wasted time and misrepresented lunch, I feel that this tour is misadvertised and we did not get what we paid for. I specifically chose this tour over others because it included lunch and the lunch we received was not what was promised. I am not sure why our plans went awry but, given that this might be my only visit to Cozumel, I was sorry to be disappointed at the end of the day.

Our tour guide did very little to inform us of the history and culture of the island. When I asked about facts of the island, like population, highest elevation, etc. he had no idea of the answer. I would expect the tour guide to be a bit more knowledgeable about the place they are providing a tour. Would not have booked this tour if I had known how poorly run it was.

They do not represent themselves well, No correct name of the company on uniform to identify them. No good communication on the meeting place at the cruise port. We looked and waited around a long time.

Gizmo, our tour guide, was amazing. He made our trip fun and exciting. You get to see the non touristic sites and the tequila tasing hit the spot. We even got to see a live salt water crocodile. His name is Poncho.

This was a great excursion, off the beaten path. Carlos was able to give us lots of history and facts about Cozumel and answered all of our questions. He took us to the Mayan Cultural center where we were treated like ‘familia’. We had a private demonstration of native Mayan dance and got to taste tequila, honey & chocolate. Plus some yummy pork taquitos! Then he took us around to the east side of the island where we saw beautiful beaches and ate a delicious lunch. We then went off roading to go see a cenote and then spent about an hour at the beach where we were able to swim and snorkel. Carlos was great and we were able to do everything at our own pace. Highly recommend!

We thought we were getting to see a real Myan Ruin, but that was not what we did. We did have a nice lunch and drive all over the island. We were also thinking we would swim in a cenote, but the one he took us to had a crocodile hanging out there and you needed diving equipment. We did get to do a tequila, chocolate and honey tasting, this was a lot of fun. The best part really was the lunch and the tasting, but we drove around alot! This was not what I expected at all. Brandon was nice overall and seemed really versed in the area.

We are sorry you were unsatisfied with the tour. Your tour doesn´t include Ruins as you can see in the tour description. The cenote you were taken is one of the only 2 we have in Cozumel as it was a Sunday and the other one was closed. Actually most of our customers usualy swim there, but unfortunatelly the croc was there and there is nothing we can do about it as we as humas arfe the invaders, not them. No diving equipment requirered for this as it is not for divers. Yes. driving is needed as our island is big and we have to cover long distances to be able to show you as much as we can.
We are sorry it was not what you expected but we are as clear as we can in the tour descriptions but were not counting that the croc would appear that particular day

From start to finish, our day with Cludia and Carlos was nothing short of amazing. The moment we met up with them, we were welcomed with warmth, enthusiasm, and a true passion for their island and culture.
We started in downtown Cozumel, where we got a taste of local life before heading to a fascinating Mayan demonstration and tequila tasting. The experience was rich with history, and we even got to sample delicious chocolates and honey. From there, we made our way to a stunning beachside restaurant where Miguel treated us to a fantastic lunch—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly paired with refreshing drinks and ocean views that were absolutely breathtaking.
Next up was snorkeling at a beautiful beach club where we saw tons of colorful fish in crystal-clear waters. The club even had a bar serving drinks to-go, which was a fun touch! We capped off the day with a swim in a nearby cenote—peaceful, beautiful, and an incredible way to wind down.
We had travelers in our group ranging from 15 to 50 years old, and every single one of us had an incredible time. In fact, my kids said this was their favorite trip ever—and that’s saying something!
Huge thanks to Cludia and Carlos for giving us a day we’ll never forget. We felt like more than just tourists—we felt like friends. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Cozumel and will absolutely book with them again when we return!
