Tour for 5 older adults was exactly what we hoped for. Luis, our driver/guide was very helpful, friendly, and informative from the beginning. We would request him again in the future. We visited the Bee Friendly Park and the Casa Mission Tequila Factory which was very fun and educational. We drove around the whole island, very scenic. Stopped at El Coco Loco which we highly recommend. All 5 of us were very pleased with our day in Cozumel

We booked a private tour in Cozumel through Viator with Cozumel Fun Tours for our group of six, expecting a structured, customized experience. Unfortunately, the day was extremely disappointing and poorly managed from beginning to end.
We were instructed to look for a guide holding a clipboard with our name clearly displayed. After waiting nearly 30 minutes in the heat, we eventually found him ourselves — no visible sign, clipboard tucked under his arm, and no proactive effort to locate his clients.
Once in the van, our confidence did not improve. The guide appeared unfamiliar with the vehicle’s basic controls. We drove for nearly 40 minutes with the windshield wipers running despite no rain, and the air controls remained locked the entire time. This lack of basic preparedness was uncomfortable and concerning.
Prior to arrival, we had clearly communicated five specific activities we wanted included in our itinerary. Those were acknowledged in advance. An ATV experience was absolutely part of our request — however, it was supposed to be scheduled at the end of the day after our other priority stops were completed.
Instead, by nearly 1:00 p.m., we had not eaten and had only completed one of our five requested activities. At that point, we were taken to an ATV location as if it were the main event. After spending the majority of the day waiting or being redirected, shifting to an off-road jungle ATV ride at that stage — before lunch and without completing our other agreed stops — felt completely out of sequence and poorly planned.
To make matters worse, when we asked to proceed to the lunch restaurant we had specifically requested in advance, we discovered no reservation had been made and they could not accommodate a party of six. That oversight alone demonstrated a lack of organization.
After losing valuable port time and seeing little effort to deliver the itinerary as agreed, we made the decision to end the tour two hours early — without lunch and without the experience we had carefully planned and paid for.
A private tour should reflect preparation, communication, and respect for guests’ priorities and limited cruise schedules. Unfortunately, this experience fell far short of those expectations.
We would strongly encourage Viator to review this operator’s quality standards.

Gerardo was great! We went on a Sunday and most things were closed, but he found a tequila factory/tasting that was so fun and then showed us around the island and we stopped for lunch and drinks. So glad we took this tour last minute.

Geraldo ( Gerry) was a wonderful guide. So knowledgeable and happy to share his country with visitors. He was kind and considerate, especially because I use a rollator/cane sometimes and he made sure I was comfortable.

Cozumel is more than beers and beaches, and this tour can be customized to allow you to see and experience some great cultural aspects of the island. Gerardo was friendly and knowledgeable - born and raised on Cozumel which made for a lot of good information. We loved the Pueblo de Maiz and the great hosts there - it’s an interactive Mayan-centered experience that takes about 90 minutes. We also did the chocolate tasting. We didn’t have time to do anything else, though, in the 4 hours, even if our kid hadn’t melted down. So plan the day carefully, and don’t try to do too much.

We felt like our driver didn’t really listen to our requests for the activities we wanted to do. He was nice enough & we got to do a couple of things we really wanted to do but it wasn’t exactly how we envisioned our day. The bee sanctuary was great! The tequila tasting experience was ok. But we didn’t really get to a beach & he told us the rum place was closed. We wanted to go see a beach on the west side of the island but instead he took us to a small beach at a beach resort “where we wouldn’t have to pay a fee” to get on the beach. Instead of doing the chocolate experience he took us to a place where we got to taste some chocolate samples, taste tequila & see a Mayan dancers “show”- it wasn’t worth the $10 entrance fee. My previous experience with a Viator private tour in Roatan was amazing! That’s why we decided to book with them in Cozumel. I’ll use Viator again but will definitely speak up more if I do this type of tour again.

Aldo our driver was so nice and friendly. He gave us a map at the start of the tour and we picked what we wanted to do and a few things not on the map also. He showed us all around the island and we really saw and learned a lot in 4 hours. The tour was in a taxi, not a jeep. This didn’t bother us at all. Aldo was waiting at the pickup area with a sign with my name on it so it was all easy.

I decided to let go of control and trust our guide's recommendations, against my family's wishes. Guess who got to say, "I told you so!!" We got off our cruise in Cozumel, and upon pick up, I shared with Taz the little bit of information I had - I wanted to see bees and buy some honey, we wanted to try cocoa, and we wanted to try some authentic Mexican seafood. We weren't interested in beaches - we live in Florida. We wanted to see the culture!
Taz delivered! Not only did he take us to some of the neatest little places around, but we were treated like VIP while we were there! Everything was perfect and after the trip was over, my partner and teenage son BOTH agreed that the day I "planned" was the best!!

We had such an amazing time with Kor and Taz Miranda our tour guides. They were outstanding and took us everywhere we wanted to go! They answered all of our questions, shared some island history and took photos for us. We had chicken enchiladas for lunch. It was delicious. Kor and Taz deserve recognition for a well thought out and planned tour. The island is awesome, beautiful beaches. Highly recommend Viator! Thank you for such a memorable experience! VT

Essentially got a driver that was expensive. Driver was kind and nice but eventually in the options for beaches took us to a very expensive subpar beach not only with an expensive entry fee ( he did disclose that to us) and sold it as a very nice beach. The price of food and drinks was very expensive so didn’t spend much time there. Driver appeared to know the staff/owners of the beach so appeared to be more of a expected referral than really providing a good option for a beach with reasonable price for entry, food and drinks.

This was a great experience with our tour guide Taz. He was on time at our hotel, in a new car with AC and a cooler full of water and drinks. He worked with us to plan a perfect itinerary.
We started at San Gervasio for the Mayan ruins, and hired Ivan to show us around, who was cheesy but funny and explained all about the site and how the Mayans incorporated their beliefs and science into the structures.
Then Taz took us on a tour of the east coast of Cozumel and stopped at a few different beach clubs to get drinks and pictures. We saw everything from perfect white sandy beaches, cool rocky shores, surfers and snorkelers, and the bluest water.
A couple the clubs we only stayed at for a very short time, dipping our toes in the ocean, and didn't even have drinks, but it was no problem. Taz was happy to let us spend as much or as little time as each place as we wanted. He seems to know everyone at every club and we never had to wait in line.
Taz was wondeful the whole time, talking about the history of Cozumel and asking questions to engage us. His English is great, though he was happy to help us with Spanish. He's very friendly but not pushy and really tailored everything to us.
We ended up at the Skyreef Beach Club for snorkeling, which was fantastic. We were at the end of our time, so Taz recommended that we stay there as long as we want and take a taxi back, and he told us who to call and what the rate would be, which was perfect.
The only issue I had was that I didn't bring enough cash, as many of the places don't take credit cards. But Taz helped us out with that, finding a hotel with an ATM.
This was one of the best tour experiences that my wife and I have ever had. Muchas Gracias Taz!

Driver was very prompt & informative. Description of what was available to see on the tour description was what NOT accurate per driver's knowledge. Ended up at the Chankanaab Park and swam with the dolphins. Took up most of our shore time. Should of done the Dolphinaris instead and we would have had more time to tour. The driver took us to a tequila tasting was was very informative. Other than the Mayan Ruins, there's really not much to do in Cozumel.

This company, and tour, was highly recommended by a friend. She was spot on . We had a great tour around the southern area of Cozumel island. Kor was our guide, and Memo was our driver. Kor was great! She knew we were interested in the history of the area, and she was able to give us great information. And she was a joy to visit with. Memo was a very safe driver. And very friendly. Jorge was a great host. A bit of a mixup the beginning with the meeting point but after that it was smooth sailing.
We went to the Mayan ruins, did a fun tequila tasting (seriously—what’s not fun about tequila?) and ended the day on the beach. All in all a great day on Cozumel!

We were very happy with the private tour we had of Cozumel. Our guide made wonderful recommendations that suited our interests and ensured we had plenty of time at each location and were back to the cruise ship in plenty of time. In addition, our credit card was overcharged by one of the vendors we visited as part of the tour, and Fun Tours acted on our behalf to ensure we received a full refund. Note of caution, when purchasing items with a credit card, if you are quoted a price in US dollars, be sure to have the store charge your purchase in US dollars not in Mexican pesos to ensure the correct amount is charged.

Driver arrived at the wrong hotel and marked us as no shows. Luckily my niece was able to call the company to let them know that we were waiting. Driver arrived nearly an hour late. Once the driver arrived we had a great time. He was very informative, and we stopped at all the spots we requested. He brought us back to the hotel after the trip at 5:30 instead of 4.
