Really enjoyed this combined trip. The canal boat was a lot of fun…much better than expected. The walk wasn’t quite as expected:- more a walk and chat. It was fine don’t get me wrong but wasn’t as informative as hoped. Still I’d recommend.

Good Tour But Shopping District Was Not Necessary

In general, the tour and guide were both very good. The only part of the tour that we thought was not necessary was the long walk through the shopping district of Amsterdam. None of us on the tour were interested in shopping nor was there time to shop. Perhaps this was the only way back to the main canal to get on the canal tour cruise; however, it was the least interesting part of the walking tour.

Great walking tour....

Great walking tour. Claire was charming. The boat cruise was fun but a little haphazard with the cheese tasting. Some tables were served way too many with lots of cheese leftover and we were forgotten and had to ask for the service.

Disappointing

We showed up 10 minutes late for the tour (our fault but we miscalculated how long it would take to walk from the ship). We missed the guide and then couldn’t catch up with them. We were offered a tour later that day at 3:30 but it was raining hard and very cold so we passed on that with our little kids. We did do the boat ride, which was VERY fun but it started 30 minutes later than we’d be told so we sat in rain and cold and extra half hour. I requested a partial refund since we didn’t get to do any of the tour beside the boat ride, I thought that was reasonable but they denied us. It was a disappointing experience.

Unfortunately, you arrived 10 minutes late, and as you mentioned, the rain led to the decision not to join the later tour. We also want to clarify that we did offer the alternative tour at 3:30, but you chose to decline due to the weather, which is understandable. While we truly want to make every experience enjoyable, the circumstances and timing were beyond our control, and we could not offer a refund in this case. We do our best to be flexible, but it's also crucial for guests to take responsibility for showing up on time, as tours and schedules are carefully planned. We appreciate your understanding.

Loved the walking tour and our guide was great! Everything ran smooth until we were left to go to our additional canal cruise option. The company told our guide it was at a different time, luckily I was keeping an eye on the time. We had to leave the tour early and literally run to catch our cruise on time, but we enjoyed it very much!

This was awesome! I only have four stars bc the meeting point was confusing. I got the directions then I got another set of instructions to the boat. I got confused and went to the boat start. This was my bad but please go with your instincts and if it’s not correct there’s always another way. We missed the walking tour but we were able to catch the boat. Fun!

Great fun come rain or shine

Absolutely fab tour and fab service. We ended up splitting the boat trip and the walking tour elements over two days as our arrival was delayed. Customer service couldn't have been more helpful, so impressed with Viator and the local team. Boat trip is the absolute best with funny, knowledgeable crew who really do their best to give you a good time. Cheese and Beer was great too! Our walking tour was a very wet one but, our guide was brilliant, so much knowledge and passion for the city, and very flexible taking us to places we asked questions about and adding in a rain break and a loo stop. Can't recommend this trip highly enough.

Horrible experience

Our guide was terrible and we seemed to be just wandering. He spoke softly and only to those next to himhe did not know about the cruise part of our tour. The company booked the cruise portion for the previous day. I will say that the guide was very helpful in finding that out and arranging for us to get on one

Our tour guide actually. Louisa was so fun to be with. Easy to hear, fun details, friendly. Knowledgeable. The city is beautiful and the tour was fantastic. The boat cruise was equally as good. The staff were fun. The boat was great. So glad they had a bathroom in boat! Wine and cheese delicious...

The guide for a walking tour was really good. She was knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting. The boat ride around the canals was very marginal. Not much information was provided. The boat that they use it was difficult to see out of.

Good tour…but no wine or cheese???

The walking tour guide, Miguel was great but the cruise was a bit confusing. I guess they are two different companies and we weren’t sure where to go to board the boat. The walking tour guide finally found the address for us even though he said it was a different company. We never got wine or cheese or drinks on board and were told that wasn’t part of the deal. Even though it was called the “Walking tour and cruise with wine and cheese”. I’m hoping for a bit of a refund from Viator.

Google maps and maps took us to 2 different pick up locations. We were at Beursplein half hr early. We never saw the blue umbrellas that we were supposed to look for. I emailed to get clarification w no response and the tour director called me but when the call dropped he never tried contact again. So they left without us and when I finally made contact with him he offered no resolution to get us on the tour. He was abrupt and rude! We were a group of 3 and were all very frustrated!!

Hi Denise, we are sorry to hear that Google Maps and maps took you to 2 different locations. That can indeed be annoying, but it can't be blamed on us. I am not sure if you were there half hf early but I can assure you we were there with blue umbrellas from 13:45. In fact, there were two groups (ENG & SPA) with a total of 9 and 5 guests respectively and all of them saw the blue umbrella and found us. Having more guests, the tour had to leave on time as it isn't fair to make other guests wait (beyond the 5-10min of courtesy) and that is why the group left bu we are sorry to hear you are disappointed. Tour awful but boat great fun

Unfortunately for us our tour guide had been away for some time and couldn't remember his "repertoire" and was truly awful. Viator I think you should have a policy in place that when any tour guide has been away for a period of time that they be re evaluated to check they are back up to speed. The saving grace was the boat trip with cheese & wine. Two delightful guides and a limitless supply of cheese & wine made for a fun hour, despite the rain.

No story to share. I got confused with the time of the walking tour. It was difficult to get to the starting point. I only got the ticket to the cruise the day before. I could not find my boat. When I did it, it was the worse experience I had.
