This is one of the highlights of our family tour around (and beyond) the Icelandic ring road. We loved getting to meet the very well-cared-for dogs and the chance to take a hike with them and see a bit of nature!

This is not the time of year for hiking, because normally we would be covered in snow, but it is good to be able to offer this as an option for dog sledding.

This was a highlight of our trip to Iceland. We loved meeting the owner, Gunni, his wife, Maria, and all 28 dogs! Their passion for the animals is exceptional. We got to see a lot of the Iceland countryside during our dog walk; it was lovely. Private tour was more expensive but well worth it.

Yes, a private visit is more expensive, but in addition to having the stay just for your group, we try to be flexible with the time, both when the visit is and also there is no stress about it even if it stretches.. The main thing is to have fun, with the dogs.

Gunni, the vendor, met us at the cruise pier with a husky. It was love at first sight. We were driven to his home and surrounded by many friendly huskies once the fence was closed behind us. Our group of 9, 5 kids and 4 adults couldn't stop smiling and petting the dogs. After the petting session, we were harnessed and teamed up with a husky so they could take us for a walk. 😁 We strolled through the dirt trail and saw some beautiful scenery without the dogs losing control of us. We learned how the dogs are cared for and saw the effort involved in keeping them happy and healthy. We saw the puppies but they were too small to be handled by so many strangers. We had a great time; if you like dogs, this is a tour not to miss.

We had a wonderful morning together and it was nice to see how well all the kids did handling the dogs.
This is one of the nice thing about my visits, (in my opinion) when you meet strangers, but end up saying goodby to new friends.

Absolutely fabulous experience. This was the best excursion of our Iceland cruise. The host was very interesting and provided hot coffee and tour of his home and kennel after our hike with the huskies. Highly recommend!

This was so fun with the cutest huskies in Iceland and with so much personality. The husband and wife team were amazing together and individually with their stories and insights. We totally enjoyed this experience and highly recommend it.

This was one of the best tours we ever took. It's a 2 person tour only. You meet all the dogs, which is tremendous. Then you are assigned a dog to take on a 2-3 mile hike through the forest. When back you go thru the house and learn about the dogs, see the show dog trophys. Then he shows you something unique that needs to be a surprise. It is the ONLY tour to take. Others see same old stuff.

18 huskies all with their own personalities but a movement noise outside fence and then a mass movement to fence, huskies are such busybodies. They have the run of part of the house, each seemingly with their own favourite spot. They are obviously very much loved. Enjoyed our walk with a husky, lovely scenery, fresh clean air, a good experience. We were shown such hospitality, a highlight of our holiday

Beautiful day for a walk with amazing dogs! Loved meeting all 16 of these sled dogs and learning all about them. Even got to meet three puppies! The host opened his home to us snd truly showed Iceland from a local perspective! A unique experience

We had a blast!!!! This is a must excursion. Maria and Gunni were fantastic hosts and their 21 huskies were a perfect pleasure to meet. I don’t think I’ve smiled that much in one day. As a matter of fact every time I think about them I’m still smiling. When we got back to the ship we shared our fun with several fellow passengers. If you have the chance don’t miss meeting the huskies. I’m certain you too will have a blast!

Memorable and very rewarding activity. Hosts Gunni & Maria are fantastic!! Picked me up a designated time at cruise port in August 2022. It was then a Short drive to their home. All 18 Huskies were wonderful and very glad to see us. Maria, myself and two Huskies went for a scenic walk. Having a knee injury- Maria tailored the hike to my ability level. After we returned she gave me a tour of their lovely restored over 100 year old farmhouse. Enjoyed hearing their history with the dogs and playing with the dogs. It was sad to have to return to the ship. I will always remember my adventure with GoHuskey!!!

We loved the GoHusky hike! The couple were extremely kind and told us everything about their dogs and every dog loved seeing new people! The hike was very easy and everyone in our group loved it!

We were met at the pickup point (cruise terminal) by Gunni on time and were taken to begin our hike at his home (15 min drive). On arrival we were greeted by howls of delight from the husky pack and were given a tour of their home. We then picked our husky by lottery after Gunni assessed our abilities and were equipped with our harnesses. Our excitement mounted as we set off on our guided hike around the grounds and local area. The hardest thing was listening to the howls of disappointment of those left behind but were reassured that the lottery was conducted in such a way that they all got their turn in due course and those left behind had their own dog handler and adventure playground to amuse them. Gunni then shared his passion for the huskies and gave us an account of how his business had evolved all whilst in the stunning backdrop of the local area. We even met some local Icelandic horses who appreciated our attempts to hand feed them some grass. After returning home after approx 1 hour we were offered a hot drink and shown the many awards that the huskies had won and peace descended and we were accepted into the pack! Gunni even showed us a selection of apparel made from spun husky hair which was recycling at its most ingenious. We were finally driven back to the cruise port and sadly said goodbye. We will always treasure our time with Gunni and his pack of gorgeous huskies and would not hesitate to recommend this experience to anyone who is looking for a different excursion which left us wanting more. Apparently in winter you can be taken on a guided sledge ride around the grounds which would be even more amazing than our summer hike which was equally enthralling. Thank you Gunni, YNWA!!

This was truly the BEST Tour we have ever taken. On this tour, we traveled with our 6 kids, ages 7+. Each one of them loved the tour. The huskies are adorable, sweet, and so fun. The hike was amazing with the huskies. We absolutely loved Maria and Gunni (their owners). They were so kind, fun, and just plain great. They made us feel like family at their house, and with their lovely huskies. Seriously take this tour, you will not regret it.

Right from when Gunni picked us up (exactly as arranged) this adventure was a thorough mix of fun, friendship and learning about the Huskies.
We went at the beginning of summer and had an individual Husky to escort us on our trail through the woods and shore. Such a beautiful setting.
We left as friends so that says it all.

This was an amazing experience! A must do if you’re visiting Iceland. We got to meet and spend the morning with this lovely couple & their 18 huskies. The hike was beautiful. The views were breathtaking! We enjoyed good conversation and cocoa after the hike. We truly recommend this tour!!
