With departure times around noon, this tour is ideal if you had a long day the day before. If you want to learn more about history and geology, you can upgrade the driver to one of our educated tour guides. During winter, the days are short, but we will take you to the sites in time so you can see and enjoy them before going on to hunt for the northern lights. As the name suggests, it is a hunt, which, with bad luck, may not be successful, but the thrill of looking out and chasing holes in the clouds while waiting for the lights can be an experience in itself. Remember to dress accordingly. Even though there are paths, sturdy shoes are advisable since they can be very slippery in winter, hence the name Iceland. A wind- and waterproof outer layer is also always a good idea over a warm layer, as you may be outside for a while waiting for the lights to show and, of course, walking between the tectonic plates.

Great experience!

A wonderful natural history museum! We thoroughly enjoyed the experience! The volcano experience and ice cave were highlights! Keep in mind that the ice cave is ICE and it is COLD! I couldn't believe the number of people going in in a short sleeved Tshirt then complaining that it is cold! Great exhibit on the impact of climate change.

Spectacular trip!

What's to love about this excursion? Everything! We booked this small group tour and super happy we did. Our guide was prepared with all the tech gear he needed to find the location of northern lights. We booked the trip for our first night in Rykevic knowing we might not get to see them. The best part is if they cancel for the evening they will move you to the following night and so on. We were cancelled 2 times, our last night it was on! Yay! We had an amazing time and drove where the big charter busses couldn't get to. Our guide had hot chocolate and took photo's of us and was spot on to where the lights would be. We got to see magnificent colors, purples, green, and some pinks. He said people don't get the colors we saw very often. I would highly recommend this trip. Don't waste your time trying to find them on your own. You probably won't unless you are experienced at finding northern lights in Iceland.

Perfect program

The Golden Circle program was great. Every place was incredibly beautiful. The tour guid was very professional and friendly. I could say it was a perfect program! For the Northern Light, i understood that the week that i went was the last week of the aurora season but the tour guide did his best to chase the northern lights until we could see it. Incredible!! We were really impressed.

Even though we didn’t see...

Even though we didn’t see the Northern Lights (bummer, but nature does its thing), this was still a great experience. Our guide, JP, was fantastic—super knowledgeable about the Northern Lights and shared lots of interesting facts throughout the tour. He was a great driver, easy to talk to, and the hot chocolate and treats were such a nice touch. He really made the whole experience enjoyable and worth it, even without the lights. I’d definitely recommend this tour!

A Decade-Old Dream, Complete

Let me begin by saying that I have been hoping to see the northern lights in full display for over 11 years, ever since I got a hazy glimpse of them on the horizon. Our tour guide was Nebo, and I am more than satisfied with his performance. He was just as excited as we were to find the lights, and took time to give us the game plan before the "fishing" as he called it, got started. He also told us about the settings for phones if we hoped to capture some of the lights ourselves, just adding to his reputation of caring about the individual experience of each person on the trip. As we neared Þingvellir he had his eyes on the sky, pulled over, and hopped out the bus. He told us there was some faint visibility, and we got to see some subtle green lights. The patience at our stop paid off however, as the lights began to dance quickly across the sky, becoming more vibrant, and casting pillars above and around us. It was an incredible light show, watching the excited movement of the Aurora is one of the most beautiful things you can witness. After these faded, he moved on further and stopped us again and here we saw the long broad bands of the lights, slowly arching and painting across the sky. His camera was ready and was taking stunning long exposure photos of all of the people on the tour under the lights. We of course got our excellent Hot Cocoa and Icelandic Kleinas, to keep us warm outside the bus. There was no rushing anyone, everything was conducted with care, patience, and genuine interest in one of the most spectacular experiences we have as humans. My wife and I had an incredible time, and we will never forget about it, nor will we forget about Nebo. The pictures I got from my own phone are incredible, and I can't wait to get the ones Nebo took in a few days! Overall this experience was one for a lifetime of memories, and I'll always be grateful to Nebo for how good of a "fisherman" he is. We had a northern lights...

We had a northern lights tours with Baldvin. We enjoyed this tour with him and it felt exciting to go find the northern lights and see if we would be lucky enough to see them. We felt he went above and beyond as a storm was coming the next day and he drove farther out so that we would have a clear enough sky to see them. We are able to see them and the photos turned out great!

One of my Iceland highlights, a total bucket list event

This trip was recommended by travel companions we met in Iceland. The experience was incredible and while it cost a bit more than other Northern Lights experiences, I can see why. The driver works with a "central command" to identify areas in the sky without clouds, and compare that to solar activity. They knew exactly where to drive and we went to multiple locations. Unlike other tours which are set to go to one location, this tour will take you wherever the Northern Lights are brightest. The drive was knowledgeable and fun, informative and also took amazing pictures of all the attendees. Included in the trip is the professional pics that were taken during your tour.

Super Fantastic!!

Be patient! You may not see the Northern lights at the first location your tour guide goes to. Baldwin, our tour guide went to four different locations and on the fourth location we saw the Northern lights. The colors were green, purple and shades of pink. Baldwin was the was the best! He was very determined we were going to see something. Baldwin was knowledgeable and engaging with us. The hot chocolate and blankets were welcoming. It was extremely cold that night even late March, so dress WARM!

Thought this was well worth the money, we got very lucky with your views this night. I would highly recommend it to anyone and also would recommend braving the cold and sitting on the top deck for the best views. Also thought it was great that they sent photos to us afterwards as well.
