Pure Milford - great way to see the sound. The capital and crew were BY FAR the friendliest, most accommodating, and knowledgeable people I've encountered on a short cruise like this. Heck, they will even take your picture without any bother. Boat was clean, free coffee drinks (cappuccino, mocha, etc).

Worthwhile adventure!

Full day, worthwhile experience. Our coach driver provided some interesting narrative on the ride to Milford. There was a short stop at Te Anu to stretch our legs and grab a cuppa. We experienced all kinds of weather in the sound, so pack accordingly. Lunch was tasty and enough. Beautiful adventure!

Must-do when in...

Must-do when in Queenstown. Did this first when I visited in February with my sisters, and enjoyed it so much, I had to take my now husband on the way to our wedding. Both of us were really nervous before the first time we both went, but the drivers are absolutely amazing (I think they said they train for 18mths before they take passengers). Ngāi Tahu tourism are an extremely professional operation, and their safety record is impeccable. They are the best for a Queenstown jet boat experience - don't skimp and go for a cheaper operator - Shotover Jet have the exclusive rights to the section of river that's best for this. So much fun - you really won't regret it (and like us, will probably want to go again as soon as you get off!)

Spectacular full day event

It was a very long (full day) but worthwhile trip. The drive is spectacular and particularly so as you get closer and closer to Milford Sound. The windowed roof of the bus accentuated this. Highly recommend. If you plan to stay in Te Anau, starting the trip from there is an option and would be much shorter.

If inside seating is a priority for you, arrive at least an hour early. It’s first come first serve. Otherwise you can sit outside, the seating is warm as it’s outside of the engine room and they give you blankets as well. They also do tray service outside so you can relax and have a drink.

From the moment we arrived, everything felt like stepping straight into Middle-earth. The tour was beautifully organized, and our guide was fantastic-full of fun facts, behind-the-scenes stories, and genuine enthusiasm that made the whole experience even more special. Walking through the rolling green hills, seeing the Hobbit holes up close, and visiting iconic spots like Bag End was absolutely surreal. Every detail is perfectly maintained, making it feel so authentic and immersive. Finishing the tour with a drink at the Green Dragon Inn was the perfect touch and really brought the whole experience together. Whether you're a fan of the films or just love stunning scenery, this tour is 100% worth it. Truly unforgettable-5 stars without a doubt!

What an experience!!!

Had an excellent trip. The skipper, Hamish was very knowledgable about the sites seen during the cruise, and provided a litttle entertainment as well. The staff members were great also, very accomodating. I had both of my kids with me, and not long after the cruise had started did the male staff member bring over colouring pencils and pictures to colour in. It was a big help keeping them entertained. The lovely Faye was very delightful, a pleasure to talk to, and very welcoming and warm (much needed given how cold the day was lol). We were able to get very close to a couple of the falls, to the point that I ended up drenched, which was super fun. And even got to see a few of the seals hanging out. Overall, a great experience. 5 stars!
