Thrill-seekers, start your all-terrain adventure with hotel pickup in Queenstown. After a drive to the trailhead, climb onto an automatic quad bike for a full ATV safety training with your professional guide, who provides waterproof clothing and safety gear.
Then set off around Queenstown Hill, bumping over the rugged terrain as your guide points out places of interest. Your tour can be tailored to suit the abilities of your small group, with a variety of trails available for any level of experience.
Stop for photo ops and enjoy panoramic views over Queenstown from the summit. After the ride back down, you’re transferred back to the starting point before hotel drop-off.

- • All riders must be at least 16 years old, weigh under 150 kgs and have a good command of the English language. For safety reasons, customers who are unable to communicate effectively in English are not permitted to participate in this tour.
- Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately
- Minimum numbers apply (min 2 per tour for confirmed departure, min 4 on NZ public holidays). There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund
- The main pickup point is Info & Track / Info & Snow, located on 37 Shotover Street - parking can be difficult to find in town. If you have your own vehicle, you can park for free out at the Nomad Safaris Quad Bike Pick Up Location - 420 Tucker Beach Road (Tucker Beach Recreational Reserve), Queenstown. The car park is located very close to our quad base, and if you have your own vehicle you can park it there at your own risk and we can pick you up on the way through. Please ensure you inform us if you prefer this option, otherwise it will be assumed you are meeting us at the shop. It can also be found using What3Words: asparagus.remixes.restarts.
- Quad biking is a physically demanding activity which requires a degree of physical strength and people of smaller stature/slight build are at greater risk of accident. Guides are trained to recognise potential safety concerns, including rider size and strength. This may restrict participation based on known risk factors.
- Before the tour departs, all guests receive a safety briefing and basic quad bike training. If, during this training session, our guides assess that a rider is not competent or confident enough to safely operate the bike, they will not be allowed to continue riding on the tour. In some cases, guests may be offered the option to ride pillion (as a passenger) on a guide’s bike.
- A valid credit/debit card is required when you check in, otherwise you can not participate in the trip and there will be no refund. In the event of an accident, we may charge up to $2,500 to cover any damage, repairs or insurance excess.
- This tour/activity will have a maximum of 14 travelers

Such an awesome ATV tour! We rode all the way up the mountain and the views were absolutely breathtaking. The ride was fun, safe, and full of good laughs. Our guide Phoebe was fantastic. Definitely a must-do in Queenstown!

Definitely be in decent physical shape, stretch first, and stay hydrated. Even on a motorized vehicle, the steeper inclines and lopsided trails will give you a minor workout. Be on alert for stray sheep. Listen to your guide and don't get distracted

Worth doing. Great ride and views. Bikes were excellent and made the ride super easy. Ksena and Shar were excellent and adapted the ride to the abilities of the group.

We were blessed with stunning weather so the views were spectacular. The whole experience was great fun and a really exciting activity to do with the family. My four girls and wife loved it. Tom and Nicko were very thorough in the training session before we took off which helped identify that my youngest was not really up to it which meant she rode safely with Nicho but still got the enjoy the experience.

A great trail on a private property giving you exclusive access to some of Queenstown’s best views. The crews were friendly and helpful, the trail was great, even for beginners but more experienced quad bikers would have trails to be taken on. A stop at the top with a hot beverage and more breathtaking views before going back down the hill. Gear is provided and you get to release your inner kid driving at pace through muddy puddles.
The tour took the advanced drivers down via the Shotover river and we got to see the Jet boat in action. Finished off with some ducking and weaving through the trails before ending back at base. Very enjoyable ☺️

If you have ATV experience or strong upper body strength, it’s ok. Otherwise beware!
Tour guides ride fast up the rocky trail and you have to keep up. They don’t watch out for you. My ATV hit a rock trying to keep up, I flew off and broke my wrist. It could’ve been much worse, since you ride on the edge of the cliff. They have you fill out a form, for their protection, and don’t call or follow up to see if you’re ok. I had 5 months of pain, PT and rehabilitation. Ruined what otherwise was a wonderful trip.

Such a fun tour! The guides were super knowledgeable and taught us everything we needed to know before heading up the hill. The views were amazing and it’s not a difficult ride at all. Also really impressed by all the safety measures and the quality of the quad bikes. Definitely recommend!

The Queenstown Hill Quad Bike Experience was 10/10! I went with my brother who had never been ATV riding before whereas I had twice before in other places around the world and this was the first time anyone had actually trained me with practice drills on how to ride before taking you out on the trail. Usually it’s just how to turn on the bike and that it. In addition to all the protective gear, kind coaching by Jordan and Benjamin, and obvious love for what they do in was night and day better to any experience I had had before. The views from the Hill are stunning and my brother left feeling extremely comfortable and wanting to do it again and again.

The tour guides were awesome! They were very thorough in making sure we were all comfortable in operating the quadbikes and that everyone was safe during the ride. The view from the top of Queenstown hill was spectacular! We even encountered some sheep on the path and the tour guides let us stop and take some pictures. Would highly recommend for any experience level!

Staff did an excellent job with safety instructions before you head out. They devided groups by ability which was greatly appreciated. The views were incredible and snack and drinks were enjoyed at a beautiful location.

The Quad riding with Nomad Safari was great and loved the positive vibes from the crew. (Jif, Phibee and Greg) sorry if I misspelled the names, I didn’t see name tags and not sure if you had certain way of spelling it.
I’ve done ATV riding multiple times throughout Asia and just riding itself makes the adrenaline pumping as like to ride fast on certain areas of the trail.
What liked about the experience is:
1. if you have experience riding and want to ride faster than others, the instructors will spilt you guys into groups to make the ride better just so 1st timers can not feel pressured to ride fast.
2. The crew will set up you up with gear to protect yourself at all times.
3. You all will get a rundown/quick brief on riding the ATV which is a nice refresher and easy to learn for 1st timers then go through a practice run riding the ATV to get comfortable with it.
4. The view - when you get high into the mountains, you get a beautiful scenery of the mountains, town, lake etc.
5. The check-in/pickup/drop off were smooth. So issues.
The whole experience was a great experience and just love ATV riding. Thank you to the crew for being awesome and making the experience great.
(Just a side note that I had a little crush on Phibee because I thought she was attractive and cool).

We had Benjamin and Sam as our guides/instructors. They were amazing and tailored to our group of 5s different riding abilities. The tracks were super fun and the view up the top was incredible. The banana cake was delicious and well earnt, great time to get our photo opportunity. Definitely would recommend to all our family and friends.

My adult children and I absolutely loved this experience, it was so much fun. Jordan was great, patient with us less experienced riders and very knowledgeable on the area. The views were beautiful, a drink stop to rest and soak in the views.
Definitely worth the money, and to do something memorable and different in the most spectacular location in NZ makes it very special.

Pickup went smooth and on time, the guys were veery nice and friendly, gave clear instructions on what to do and not to do on the quad bikes, then took the group up the hills to see some incredible views of Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu. Totally worth it, would do it again, no questions asked!
