Moving tour.

⸻ Visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum is an incredibly moving and important experience. It’s so much more than a Memorial. A place where immersed suffering took place. . However, our tour time was changed and part of our visit ended up taking place after dark. Lighting was very limited, and many of us had to use our cell phones to see the uneven ground while walking. If your tour is later in the day, it’s something to be mindful of for safety and comfort.

Great way to do a lot in one day

My adult son and I did the tour. You could do this tour easily using Just public transportation with some careful planning.However, having a private car, pick us up and take us to each spot was really convenient. Our driver was very nice and very safety conscious. Doing both of these in one day was very helpful as we were pressed for time.

I would like to give this tour ten stars. The driver (Mikal) was wonderful and the guide at the site (Rykard) was wonderful. The tour was so sad and so thought provoking. Both guides provided so much information about polish history and current life. Gave restaurant recommendations too. Both were professional. Driver was a good driver and the vehicle was clean.

The tour was operated by the Auschwitz’s museum guides as I understand all tours are and was very informative and powerful as expected. The driver, Michael, was excellent. Arrived 5 minutes early so we were in our way immediately. The car was clean and to an extra bit lunch was added. Would highly recommend.

Know before you go

Plan to spend roughly 90 minutes at each of the sites, Auschwitz and Birkenau.
An official visitor center can be found at the entrance to Auschwitz I.
Although you can arrive independently and purchase your own Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum tickets, guided Auschwitz tours can allow for better understanding, with insight from a tour guide.
Cell phones are not allowed in the permanent exhibition buildings and photos are not permitted in Room 5 of Block 4 or the cellars of Block 11.
The museum discourages visits from children under the age of 14.
While wheelchairs are available at the visitor center, strollers are only permitted outside of the blocks and other structures in Auschwitz I.
