What To Expect

Enjoy the breathtaking views (and breathtaking walk) out on the Glacier Skywalk, a glass-bottomed walkway situated 1,000 feet above the valley below. This unique viewing platform is the perfect spot to take your Alberta visit to new heights with incredible views and fascinating on-site exhibits.

Travel on your own along the Icefields Parkway – one of the most stunning highways in the world, with views of more than 100 glaciers and other alpine landscapes, before arriving at the Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Centre, where your Glacier Skywalk experience begins. Board your coach for the quick five-minute transfer to the Glacier Skywalk, after which you’ll have plenty of time to explore the site at your leisure. It’s recommended you allow at least 45 minutes, though you’re free to stay at the site until closing time, when the last coach returns to the Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre.

Step out onto this incredible glass-bottomed viewing platform (called Discovery Vista) feeling your heart pump as you take in the amazing views of the nearby glacial valleys and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies. If you’re looking for more to do while on-site, check out the Discovery Trail, offering interpretive displays on the region’s geology, biology, ecology and Aboriginal history, plus a walk along a cliff-edge boardwalk with great views of the valley.

Nice to experience along the drive

Nice experience, but it was crowded, lot of people and the weather was cloudy so we did not get the most out of it.

It was fun activity. The views were breathtaking. We enjoyed the viewpoint. Too crowded at the outlook and bus wait was too long.

Beautiful!!! Must See!!

Richard_P, Aug 2025

Amazing Experience

Sumit_H, Jul 2025
Amazing experience. Staff and services was also good. The bus driver explained everything so well. It was fun.

Worthwhile even in cloudy weather

Linda_L, Jul 2025
Beautiful views! We enjoyed the experience despite cloudy weather. Good coffee and hot chocolate at the top.

Incredible view.

Jordan_D, Jul 2025
Very worth the cost and the shuttle/bus ride from the main Columbia Icefields building. I would do it again!

Walking on glass was cool

Pam_W, Oct 2024
It was somewhat interesting; however I expected to see more of the glacier. The skywalk on the glass was cool.

Experience the Columbia Icefield Skywalk !!

Angelea_D, Sep 2024
Super neat, exciting activity! The whole experience was totally worth it! The Icefield Center building itself is top notch with amenities and really nice informative exhibits. The shuttle service to the Skywalk was very prompt and well run. Plenty of time to experience the Skywalk as there’s no time limit to experience it. Take your time and enjoy the views! After the Skywalk, ride the shuttle down and cross the street to experience the toe of the Athabasca glacier. Well worth the experience. It’s going away fast so go get a good look up close!

A little less expensive...

LoriAnn_G, Sep 2024
A little less expensive to buy ahead of time rather than at the Discovery Center. We were 15 mins late for our scheduled time and could easily board bus leaving in the next 15 mins (in mid September)

Amazing trip

Everything at Columbia ice field skywalk I will remember it in my life. Staff working there are amazing very nice guys

Great activity!

Keith_R, Aug 2024
Excellent activity with amazing views! Reservations were easy to make online and the bus was on schedule.

No Refund (Not Our Fault) Wildfires

Elisabeth_K, Aug 2024
We were unable to go on this excursion due to the wildfires. We had to rebook hotels out of Jasper and Sunwapta areas. We could not get a refund. Very disappointed.

Disappointed

Peggy_W, Aug 2024
We thought we had bought tickets that included the Skywalk and the glacier experience! We got on the bus to the Skywalk and loved it but went to the bus thinking we were going on to the Columbia Icefields but was taken back to the main building and couldn’t even add the glacier paying the difference! We were so frustrated spending an hour on the phone with you! We finally gave up and rather than not see the glacier we paid the whole amount going a second time to the Skywalk! We were mad we couldn’t even pay the difference and see it all! Frustrating! I can’t recommend Viator! You guys screwed up our reservations and we will not be using Viator to make plans again. They were not at all clear of what we were purchasing! You need to work on that!!!!!!

Best experience in Icefield

Devon_C, Aug 2024
The best experience we had in the Rockies There's nothing more amazing to be able to witness earth's creation in such a personal way. We are honoured. The glacier is definitely more dynamic than it looks and we have learnt so much. Thank you.

Wonderful travel and experience

Emelie_B, Jul 2024
My eldest daughter is shaking after walking on the glass but we are all happy and enjoy the scenes..

Once in a lifetime experience

Robert_N, Jul 2024
We truly enjoyed visiting the Icefield Skywalk. It was a once in a lifetime experience. Our bus driver was very knowledgeable about the history behind the glaciers and our ride was very comfortable. An added bonus was the mountain goats we saw after we boarded for our trip back to the center. It was great!

The day in the mountains

Heather_A, Jun 2024
We enjoyed the entire experience, the staff were knowledgeable and pleasant. It was all very organized, at the same time you were able to spend the viewing at your leisure.

Bus left us

Ashley_G, May 2024
We got there 5 minutes before and the bus had already left. That was the last one of the day. There is no refunds either.

Great activity!

Sanne_N, Oct 2023
Very nice to have this booked in advance. I really liked the infographics in the boardwalk. The skywalk itself is a little bit smaller than expected, but still very cool.

A must see sight. The views are awesome. The skywalk is an engineering marvel.

Syed_H, Sep 2023
Views from the skywalk. They allowed us as much time as needed. We were not rushed. The tour buses were running every 15 minutes.

Smooth & efficient

Anthony_C, Sep 2023
Easy and clear Booking procedure, & I applied on an occasion and the refund process completed in short time.

Excellent viewpoint

Lyndin_D, Aug 2023
The view of the glaciers & walking on glass 918 ft over the valley. A bit overcrowded when we went but that depends on the day.

Unforgettable experience not to be missed!

Doreen_L, Aug 2023
The view was breathtaking and the history & importance was very interesting & well laid out. The shuttle driver gave an excellent tour before & after

Great views

George_D, Aug 2023
A great trip and interesting information from the guide about the glacier and its disappearance over the years. The skywalk was great and brilliant views

Breathtaking Scernery

Aimee_D, Jul 2023
We enjoy learning history of places and information never heard before, like why trees only produce limbs on one side and that the Columbia River, which we have lived along side and/or near all our lives, actually began from this glacier area!! We spent a week in the travel up to the Icefields, the Rocky Mnts of CA are wonderous! Thank you Aviator for helping us to get the most of our endeavors. Appreciate your help!!!

Great view and smooth execution

ParvathyA, Jul 2023
It was a great view from the Skywalk. No much waiting time, bus rides every 15 minutes and hence a pleasant experience

Was ok, but overall would skip it

Gilad_S, Jul 2023
It was OK, but not more. The most attractive thing about this activity is walking on the glass floor. Otherwise, you can get better views from other places that do not cost money or require you to take the bus.

Good experience, a little crowded at peak times so would avoid

Ashish_S, Jul 2023
Cool idea, much too crowded from 11-5 pm and would avoid. Otherwise the view is nice. The cost isn’t too much

Must Do in Jasper

Sweta_s, Nov 2022

Great excursion

Phil_M, Aug 2022
Great experience, we were really lucky with the weather, nice sunny day. So picturesque, the mountains in the background and the valley below make for stunning pictures.
