Get outside of Amsterdam for great day of Dutch History

Great 6+ hr tour were we explored the windmills, went to a cheese farm and tried lots of cheese and other goodies, and saw wooden shoes being made. We also explored some of the coastal cities of Volendam and Marken. And had delicious seafood from De Lunch. Our guide, Ilay was fantastic- very knowledgeable on Dutch history and provided lots of recommendations for our stay in Amsterdam.

Fun Canal Cruise

I have done many canal tours in Amsterdam, Copenhagen, and Harlem and this tour was a step above most. The guide was fun and personable and kept our wine glasses full. The cheese was yummy and the boat was a good combination of inside and outside (had nice cover from the sun). The only negative would be how loud the motor was, it interfered with our enjoyment of being on the canal. It would be nice if Amsterdam instituted the "only electric motors" requirement that Haarlem has. It makes a big difference. So until then, you will have to put up with a really loud motor.

Great intro to Amsterdam

I did this tour on my first day in Amsterdam and it was a great way to get my bearings in the city and get ideas of areas I wanted to come back to. It was a small group of 4 of us and our guide was very welcoming. I appreciated being taken to small local shops that didn't feel touristy. Highly recommend

Very fun & delicious Amsterdam food tour

Our family of 2 adults and 1 teen had a super fun time with Stephanie our guide, and one other couple. It was great to be a small group. We walked to six different stops in a vibrant and colorful Amsterdam neighborhood. The snacks/food that we sampled were all local and different than what we eat at home (except for the cheese, but it was better cheese than US cheese ;)). We also had beer/wine/drink of choice at almost all the places, also included. Stephanie our guide was very friendly, knowledgeable, taught us some cool Amsterdam/Dutch info, and easygoing. We had a great time!

Great Food Tour with Todd!

We had an incredible food tour in Amsterdam with our guide, Todd, who is originally from Wisconsin and has lived in the city for 13 years. His deep knowledge of both Dutch culture and American perspective made the experience especially engaging and easy to understand. Our tour began with a walk through the vibrant flower market, followed by a stop at Henri Willig for some outstanding cheese. From there, we sampled a classic Dutch specialty—herring—which Todd explained in a way that made it approachable even for first-timers. We also enjoyed traditional Dutch fries with a variety of sauces, which were absolutely delicious. One of the highlights was Melly’s Stroopwafels, served warm right out of the oven—easily a favorite moment of the tour. We wrapped up the experience at a cozy local pub, which was the perfect ending. Throughout the tour, Todd pointed out key landmarks, shared fascinating insights, and patiently answered all of our questions. He also made sure to stop frequently for photos, which we really appreciated him taking our group shots. We saw so many unique sites and enjoyed the information. Todd provided. His ability to interpret cultural nuances from a fellow American perspective made everything more meaningful and easy to follow. What are the most important things we learned was the walking, biking, car, and tram etiquette so we didn’t get run over, ha ha . I would highly recommend this food tour with Todd—it was a perfect blend of great food, local history, and excellent company.

This was a sampling of...

This was a sampling of various popular tastings - not a meal. Our guide, Maria, was excellent - so kind and knowledgeable, creating a unique experience as learned the history and stories of Amsterdam. I wish we were able to sit down and eat, though. Our stops inside each place were hot and stuffy, crowded, and we had to stand or find space outside. We didn’t always have drinks (only offered bottled water once) and it wasn’t enough for the cost of this tour. Also, I wish we ate the sandwich first, instead of the sweets and the sandwich at the end. I’ve taken food tours that were better organized for a smoother eating experience. This was expensive and we ate mostly sweets.

Yummy Amsterdam

Abby was a great guide, enthusiastic and fun. We went to local places and all the food was great. I liked the cheeses the most and my husband loved the sausage and herring. The surprise dessert of French toast and coffee ice cream was a delight. I highly recommend a Sherpa tour!

A great hour on the canals with unlimited drinks and also a snack box. Drinks included ranged from different wines, beer and soft drinks (plus water). We went when it was raining, and we were given an option of travelling in a covered boat or the open boat which was lovely. Would strongly recommend this if you have time (especially at night)

Very informative tour with great snacks

Andrea was our amazing, informative, wonderful guide. She provided a very complete history of the red light district as well as of the city of Amsterdam. Pointed out key buildings and explained events that have shaped the city today. She provided a matter-of-fact descriptions of the historic and current laws regarding the red light district. Stops for pancakes, jenever, croquettes and stroopwaffles added appreciation for the area.

Great Tour, Good Food

Our tour started with apple pie, ended with Dutch croquettes, and was filled with good food and company in between. Our tour guide, Elena, was very sweet and knowledgeable. She shared a lot of history about Dutch food and some of the Jordan District in Amsterdam. She engaged everyone in the group and created situations in which we engaged with each other across the group. This was very useful to us as the canal cruise is in pretty tight quarters. I didn’t love all the food, but I didn’t dislike any of it. That’s just how Dutch food is; good but not great. But, as a tour, I’d recommend this one, especially if Elena is your guide.
