We did three tours in Amsterdam and this one was my favorite! Our tour guide Aileen was energetic , fun, and knowledgeable. If you love food and want to learn some interesting facts about Amsterdam I highly recommend it. The last hour of the tour is a canal ride on a beautiful wooden boat. The cherry on top!

Thank you. Happy to hear you had a great time with Alda on the Jordaan food tour!

There is walking before the cruise. The food was great and the group size was very small. Guide was interesting and experienced.

Thank you. We are very happy to hear about your positive experience on the food & canal tour! I hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Amsterdam.

Great way to see Amsterdam. It was great to sample Dutch cheese, fish, bitterbals and apple pie. The day was capped off with a canal tour with some tasty Dutch liqueur.
Alda is a fantastic hostess, educating us and making sure everyone was taken care of.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for the kind review. So nice to hear about your experience exploring Amsterdam on the Jordaan food & canal tour with the wonderful Alda!

Sabrina is very knowledgeable about Amsterdam and its culture, especially the food culture- and is very entertaining. The tour and the selections allowed us to check a lot of the must try dishes off the list (herring, apple tart, Surinamese, and more) while getting a quick orientation to the area. Sabrina was attentive to the tour group and each person’s needs. Seasoned travelers and first time visitors learned and had fun simultaneously.

Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm so happy to hear you had a great experience on the Jordaan tour and enjoyed the tastings. It was a pleasure hosting you! I hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Amsterdam. We'd love to see you back on another Eating Europe tour in the future!

Good food. Loved the Dutch Apple Pie and the cheese. Would have liked a nice herring or fish dish. Drinks were good. Boat on canal tour was not open except for a small area in back which prevented our sight lines. Overall a nice tour but a bit pricey.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the food on the Jordaan tour. We want our pricing to be reflective of the product so we will prioritise making the experience, especially the canal ride, worth the cost. Regarding fish, we usually have herring and kibbling on our morning-afternoon tours, but some holidays, evenings, Sundays and Mondays unfortunately the fish shop is closed. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Amsterdam!

Honestly was not what I expected. We walked to go get great food that was great and loved that part with the drinks. The boat ride part of the tour was just ehhh we only got one drink a little boring and no food so it was not needed.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Sorry to hear that the boat part of the tour didn't live up to your expectations. We were doing some internal checks but there is no canal tour we ran that did not have food. We always serve bitterballen paired with the Jenever drink. They are small deep fried snacks as is typical to end a group experience with them in the Netherlands! The boat tour is also to relax a bit after/before the 2 hours of walking with beautiful views of the 750 year city from the canal level so it's a shame it was not entertaining for you. We will make sure that there is enough stories and information shared during the canal ride to keep the group entertained. I hope you were still able to enjoy your time in Amsterdam for the rest of your trip!

Sabrina was a great Tour Guide and shared lots of great tips and places to visit. The actual Food Tour was a great way to sample lots of different Dutch food and the canal boat trip at the end was a great way to end the tour. Would recommend!

Our tour started with apple pie, ended with Dutch croquettes, and was filled with good food and company in between. Our tour guide, Elena, was very sweet and knowledgeable. She shared a lot of history about Dutch food and some of the Jordan District in Amsterdam. She engaged everyone in the group and created situations in which we engaged with each other across the group. This was very useful to us as the canal cruise is in pretty tight quarters. I didn’t love all the food, but I didn’t dislike any of it. That’s just how Dutch food is; good but not great. But, as a tour, I’d recommend this one, especially if Elena is your guide.

Relaxing stroll through one of the prettiest neighborhoods in Amsterdam with tastings of regional delicacies at local spots. An incredible way to spend the afternoon in Amsterdam, especially if you are looking for something chill to do that is not in the typical “touristy” area. Gerard l our guide was AMAZING. A lifelong-local, Gerard really added to the experience by adding personal anecdotes and taking time to answer questions throughout. Be sure to dress for the weather and wear good walking shoes.

If you're a foodie visiting Amsterdam, this 3-hour food tour is an absolute must! From the very first bite to the last, this tour was a delightful adventure through the city’s best eateries, showcasing a mix of traditional Dutch flavors and modern twists.
We started in a charming, bustling neighborhood where our guide, Gerard, a local expert, immediately made us feel welcome. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable, but his passion for Amsterdam’s culinary scene was contagious. He took us to hidden gems, offering insights into the history behind each dish, which added a personal touch to the experience.
We began with apple pie - paired perfectly with a strong Dutch coffee. It was the ideal sweet start! We also tried haring (raw herring), a quintessential Dutch snack. It sounds daring, but it was surprisingly refreshing and paired well with the pickles and onions.
The highlight was definitely the artisanal cheese stop. I’ve never tasted such rich, creamy gouda! The variety was mind-blowing—aged, smoked, and even truffle-infused cheeses. You could really taste the craftsmanship. Along the way, we also sampled local bitterballen (crispy meatballs) on a canal cruise.
Each stop was thoughtfully curated, showing off the diverse flavors that make Amsterdam’s food scene so exciting. It felt more like an afternoon spent with friends than a guided tour.
In just three hours, we ate like locals, explored parts of Amsterdam we might have otherwise missed, and had a blast. Highly recommended for anyone who loves food, culture, or just experiencing a city from a new perspective. An unforgettable, mouthwatering experience!

We had such a wonderful time on our walking tour with Maddie! She guided us through Amsterdam with the perfect mix of history, fun stories, and local insight. Along the way, we sampled delicious Dutch treats and drinks, which made the experience even more special. Maddie was warm, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable — the time just flew by. Highly recommend her tour for anyone looking to explore the city in a fun and memorable way!

Calling it a canal cruise is misleading. We were on a boat for a short period, but most of the tour was walking
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Dear Mary, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand your concern regarding the canal portion of our Eating Amsterdam: Food & Canal Tour. The tour is a 3,5 hour experience, starting with a 2.5 hour walking food tour through the Jordaan district, followed by a 1-hour canal cruise. This information is clearly outlined on all our platforms.
The walking tour allows guests to explore the rich culinary heritage of the Jordaan neighborhood, tasting traditional Dutch dishes and visiting local vendors. The tour concludes with a relaxing canal cruise, offering a scenic perspective of Amsterdam’s iconic waterways.
We appreciate your input and are always looking for ways to improve our guests experiences. If you have further suggestions or concerns, please reach out to us directly at info@eatingeuropetours.com. We value your feedback and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you on another tour in the future.

Worth the money to have an engaging and knowledgeable host.
Food was ok and filling.
Interaction with the other travellers was a bonus .

What a great experience! Paul was fantastic! He made sure we were having a good time, from the beginning to the end of the tour. He was a great conversationalist, and at the same time, a constant source of knowledge. The stops were well planned, and all of the bites were great! We were very full by the end of the tour. We would definitely recommend this company to our friends! 👍

This was a great day. You really got to see multiple neighborhoods of Amsterdam, learn history in an interesting and succinct way, try awesome food and see the beauty of Amsterdam through the canal boat rides. Our guide, Bart was super kind, knowledgeable and made it a great day. The owner of the boat, Paul, was also great. We had a wonderful day. I highly recommend this tour. It is a great way to see Amsterdam.

That was fun! The chance to venture through Amsterdam and into historic locations to sample all kinds of food and beverages .... loved it! Also our guide was devoted to incorporate lots of history and family connections that we never would have known about without her. Personal touch was meaningful.
