We had a fantastic walking food tour throughout the heart of Vienna city center with Mario. Mario was well-versed in Viennese Austrian cuisine and is very knowledgeable about Viennese Austrian history as well. Food choices were on point, and we ended up going back to some of the places on the tour for a meal afterwards. It is a great walking pace, not too fast and not too slow. Would highly recommend this tour, especially for any first time visitors of Vienna. Ask for Mario, he is fantastic !

One of the highlights of our trip to Vienna. Our guide, Ana, took us to key establishments and explained the history of the food and that type of business. Ana was very friendly and personable. We highly recommend. It was time well spent.

Lauren was great. Plenty of history, plenty of suggestions, and excellent choice of restaurants. Food was worth the cost as all venues were comfortable. And delicious food choices!

We booked our tour in the morning for the same day. It was wonderful to get out of the typical touristy spots and have a wonderful authentic meal with great conversation.
We enjoyed the sights and sounds our showed us since it was different than an earlier typical city tour of Vienna.

Lucy/Lucija was a wonderful guide and host. We had an amazing time eating fabulous Viennese food treats while learning all kinds of great things about Vienna. It's one of the best ways to immerse yourself in the culture, be active, learn and get treated to some amazing food. The Kaiserschmarrn treat at the end of the tour was a perfect ending!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Delicious Journey Through Vienna — Thanks to Ana!
Our food tour through Vienna was nothing short of spectacular, and that was largely thanks to our wonderful guide, Ana. From the very first stop on Kurrentgasse, where we were greeted with the warm aroma of freshly baked Bretzels, Ana set the tone with her kindness, enthusiasm, and deep knowledge of Vienna’s culinary traditions.
At every stop — from the historic Hoher Markt and its UNESCO-recognized sausage stands to the cozy, traditional tavern on Jakobergasse — Ana brought each dish and location to life. She has a gift for storytelling, weaving together history, culture, and food in a way that made us appreciate every bite on a whole new level.
One of the highlights was our time at Jakobergasse, where Ana guided us through iconic Austrian dishes like the Wiener Schnitzel with such passion that you could tell she genuinely loves what she does. And ending at Graben and Kohlmarkt with a sweet taste of Kaiserschmarrn was pure magic — made even sweeter by Ana’s warm presence and thoughtful explanations.
Ana made the entire experience seamless, engaging, and unforgettable. If you’re considering a food tour in Vienna, don’t hesitate — book this one and hope you get Ana as your guide! She truly turned a great itinerary into an exceptional experience.

What a wonderful food tour with Lauren! This was a novel tour for me because unlike other food tours, we didn't make a dozen stops, sampling small bites of food but dug into 4 very fun, yummy courses at 4 different places where we savored what we were eating (and, if anyone is worried about too much food, there are "to go" boxes everywhere). Fun to try the Viennese breads, sausage (and vegetarian sausage from mushrooms), followed up by a sit down lunch to try viennese wiener schnitzel and goulash, wrapping up with a yummy Viennese dessert. Three+ hours sped by and Lauren was amazing - informative and fun. Highly recommend to all!

I love a good food tour and this one did not disappoint. We visited places that I never would have found/visited on my own. All the food we had was really good and the portion sizes were ample for dinner. Drinks were included at the second and third stops. The fourth stop was dessert, and we had our choice of cakes. I will note that this tour included a lot of walking. In my past experience, food tour stops are usually a bit more tightly located on the map, in one neighborhood. There was considerable walking between each stop which made the tour long.

We had amazing time with Chiara. Great personality and a good knowledge of the food and Austria's history. The food places were authentic and food was delicious. We had a small group of people and everybody enjoyed this Viennese food experience.

We had an absolutely amazing time with our guide Robin and the others in our group! Portions were very generous! Food was delicious! Highly recommend.

Nice to get out and walk around, but starting with a dry pretzel, followed by a frankfurter for a 10 am event was an odd choice. The other two stops were better. Our guide gave a perspective of a US expat. Might have been nice to get a native perspective instead.
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Thank you for your feedback and for joining our tour. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed getting out to walk around and that some of the stops suited you better. We understand your point about the menu choices and will certainly keep that in mind when reviewing the flow of the experience.
Regarding your comment about the guide, while some of our experts originally come from abroad, they have been living in Vienna for many years and bring with them a deep knowledge of the city, its food culture, and daily life. We believe their perspective offers both valuable local insight and a unique, relatable point of view for visitors.
We truly appreciate your input, as it helps us continue improving the experience.

Long overdue posting this, but we loved our tour with Ana. She was lovely and had great knowledge of Vienna. We were with one other couple who were much younger than us but we all had fun together. We were so full after this tour! Def do this tour!

Anna was great and highly knowledgeable about the history of the various foods we tried. The pace was slow, the food wonderful, best beef goulash I’ve had!

We had an amazing experience on the Taste Vienna food tour with Ana as our guide! She was prompt, knowledgeable, and a joy to spend time with. Ana knew all the right spots to take us—places we likely wouldn't have found on our own—and shared interesting stories and insights along the way that really added to the experience.
My family and I always book food tours when we travel, and this one definitely ranks among the best. The food was delicious and varied, offering a great taste of traditional Viennese flavors.
One tip: if you're not used to fresh horseradish, go easy at the Frankfurter Stand , --- look up side effects.
Highly recommend this tour for food lovers looking to explore Vienna in a fun, flavorful, and authentic way. Ana made it truly memorable!

This short tour was a fantastic introduction to Vienna! Our guide not only introduced us to delicious food but also shared fun and interesting historical facts along the way. We tasted four different types of Viennese cuisine and ended the tour with a delicious dessert.
She took us to hidden local spots that added a lot of charm and authenticity to the experience. I give the tour a 5 out of 5!

Anna was our guide. She was very knowledgeable, very friendly and very pleasant to be around. The outing took about three hours. It was a very pleasant experience.
If my husband and I were to have one complaint and it’s not really a complaint. There was a lot of food to be eaten along the way. It was way too much food for the two of us, and we felt somewhat obligated to eat the majority of it because we didn’t want to be wasteful. I would recommend maybe asking if you could share a plate rather than getting full meals. Anyway, we do it again in a heartbeat. It was fantastic.

Come Hungry and Curious – A Delicious (and Filling!) Food Tour in Vienna
If there’s one tip you take from this review, let it be this: do NOT eat before this tour! By the end, we were absolutely stuffed—and happy about it.
Our guide, Anna, was a delight—warm, friendly, and full of interesting insights about Vienna’s rich food history. She kept the pace lively and the conversation engaging throughout.
🥨 First Stop: Local Pastry Shop
We started with a large pretzel—not the kind you’d expect if you’re from the U.S. It had a mild flavor, a bit different from the buttery, salty ones back home (and nope, no melted cheese in sight, but they have options that had cheese on the pretzel. But we were not given that option. On a scale of 1 to 5, we gave it a 3. Still, it was a nice intro to the local palate.
🌭 Second Stop: Wiener Schnitzel (Not What You Think)
This is where you need to ditch your “hot dog” vocabulary—this is not a frankfurter! Locals take their Wiener Schnitzel seriously, and rightly so. Served without bread but with condiments, it was tasty and light. It was also the moment we realized: maybe breakfast before the tour wasn’t the best idea.
🍽️ Third Stop: Full Meal Time. Make that TWO.
We hit a cozy local restaurant and were served two full entrées—yes, two! First came a hearty -goulash with potatoes-, followed by a thin, crispy -veal schnitzel-. Both dishes were flavorful and served in generous portions. If you're a fan of schnitzel done right, you’ll be thrilled (and very full).
🥞 Fourth Stop: Demel’s for the Pancake
Next, we stopped at the famous Demel bakery to try the Kaiserschmarrn—a fluffy pancake-like dish (no syrup needed) however, it did come with a dipping sauce. Anna shared some fun theories about its origins—turns out no one knows the exact story, which made it even more intriguing!
We ended up debating: Kaiserschmarrn or funnel cake? Funnel cake narrowly won in our group, but we all agreed this was a must-try dish in Vienna.
🍫 Bonus Round: The Chocolate Cake Showdown
We went back (after the tour) to Demel's and tried the chocolate cake, which was... divisive. It looked delicious. I gave it a 1, my spouse gave it a 4. I found it similar to a flourless cake in the US. So maybe take my rating with a grain of salt—and a spoonful of whipped cream.
Final Thoughts:
This tour is -worth every bite-, and Anna’s guidance made it even better. Come hungry, come curious, and come ready to learn about Vienna through its flavors. Even if you don’t love every dish, the experience is unforgettable.
