Itinerary
Your private guide will pick you up at your Vienna hotel. Climb into a minivan or limousine and depart Vienna, bound for the Danube Valley.
Your first stop is in the medieval town of Dürnstein, where King Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned in the 12th century. Explore Dürnstein at your own pace and marvel at its famous blue tower, the rustic wine taverns, medieval courtyards, and the town hall. Opt for a hike up to the fortress to see where Richard the Lionheart was held prisoner, and stop to taste local apricot schnapps and marmalade.
Continue to Spitz to take a Danube River cruise with optional lunch on board (not included).
After your meal, visit the Melk Abbey, which was founded 1,000 years ago by the Benedictines. Your tickets are reserved in advance so you can skip the entry line, then take a private tour led by one of the monastery's own guides.

Wow! What a day!! Beauty everywhere you look!! Our tour guide Robert was beyond expectations!! A wealth of knowledge and passion about his homeland!! Kind, caring and a vital asset traveling with an older passenger (my momma) that he looked out for like she was his own!! Thank you Robert!!! You are a gem!!! Highly recommend!!
