Itinerary

Your day trip will begin with pickup from your hotel in central Vienna or at the Vienna State Opera. Enjoy a scenic drive with your guide as you travel through the Austrian and Hungarian countryside before arriving in the bustling city of Budapest.

On arrival, enjoy the first impressions of Hungary’s capital, sometimes called the Paris of the East, and magnificently set across the Danube River. The famous river splits the city into two districts: Buda, the medieval quarter, and Pest, the commercial heart. Hear how these once-separate cities were united to form the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1893.

See top sights on a coach tour through Pest and parts of Buda, passing the Parliament Building and the Opera House. Admire the statues of the Seven Chieftains of the Magyars in Heroes’ Square, and the waters of the Danube River. As you travel from each major landmark, learn the rich history behind Budapest and its architectural gems.

You'll also have several hours to explore the city at leisure before you hop back on the bus for your return transportation to Vienna.

The guide that travelled on the bus from Vienna provided a wealth of information, and was amazing! Sadly the two guides that came onboard when we got to Budapest (one for English and the other for Spanish) didn’t seem on one accord. They shared one microphone and didn’t seem to be in unison. I felt like they wasted my time and couldn’t wait to get off the bus to explore on my own!

Meeting spot could be better marked. Bratislava photo spot is the bus depot. Enjoyed Budapest, guide was knowledgeable.

Terrible, disrespectful and very rude! Don’t even consider this

Raghad_I, Jan 2026
THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! The guide called me a liar!!! I booked this trip on the 5th of Dec and it was supposed to be on the 25th, so 20 days! And I was sent a message ONE day before the trip saying that having our passports was mandatory. I didnt see this message because i was already on my trip and not connected all the time. Thats not even the worst part. On the day of the trip, my friend and I walked to the meeting point which was around 10 mins away from our hotel, once we arrived we were told that we cant get on the trip without the passports, no IDs or passport copies would work. The staff was very rude and didnt even wait for us. I said that i could run back and get them within 15 mins tops and he didnt agree!!! Instead he argued for almost 7 mins that it was our mistake that we didnt see the message (also note that it wasnt written in the description). I said that i will give it a try and i ran back to get the passports but they went without us anyways. If the guide said from the begining that we had 15 mins and the bus should leave (instead of arguing) we wouldve went back gotten the passports and joined. My friend who waited and tried to stall them was told by the guide that we can get a refund (which we didnt). Also my friend suggested that we take the train and catch up with the group wherever they are. The guide said to her that it was fine, and this is what we tried to do but the guide refused for us to join the group. So not only he lied about us being able to get a refund but also refused for us to join. I took the train and went to budapest and tried to text them to join but the answers were very rude and disrespectful. Not only that, but also the guide gave me a call to tell me to stop texting and that he will he closing the ticket! And didnt provide any solutions. When i said that i am already in Budapest he said “NO UR NOT” so that him basically calling me a liar. I informed him that ill write the review and he didnt seem to care at all so heres it.

Great day trip! If you want to experience more of Budapest i would say spend a few nights, but this is a great way to get a quick experience of the city and try some cuisine.

Budapest

norma_h, Aug 2025
Budapest is a beautiful city. The tour took us on a bus around the Buda side and so we were only able to get pictures from the bus. The tour guide said Buda is the hilly side so parking would be am issue if they had stopped there. The Pest side is flat so we were able sight see on our own after the guide finished. Overall it was a good tour. If you need to really see this city, a day trip wont do it.

Excellent trip , enjoyed a lot

Deepti_S, Jul 2025
Good experience , trip was well organised , the tour guide was very informative, reached back on time

Excellent excursion from Vienna

Just Do It

This definitely a must do trip when staying in Vienna. My guides were absolutely fantastic and rich with knowledge. I will be recommending this to my friends and family without a doubt. Thanks again for another great experience!

Not Recommend It

Guogang_L, Oct 2024
The bus tour is supposed to pass by or stop at 6 sites, but apparently did not go to Castle District and Citadella on Gellért Hill on September 26. The walking tour lasted about 20 minutes. The guide mainly talked about what to eat and where to shopping.

Not the best tour but fine for a glimpse of Budapest

Katherine_I, Sep 2024
pick-up: Van comes to pick you up at your hotel and drops you off at Opera Departure: a little disorganized Bus ride: guide was kind but reads a text in English and Spanish throughout the ride to describe historical events and information on Budapest. The tour should be seperated in two busses to avoid redundant information in both languages. In Budapest: bus tour of approx 30min, with a guide in English and Spanish passing on the microphone. The same path is taken multiple times and some information is repeated. They don’t even drive in front of Parliament or the castle. You get 3h of free time which is plenty to visit the city.

Budapest. Amazing history

Diane_L, Sep 2024
Great bus with narrative on historic throughout trip. Nice drive through buda and pest. Couple of stops took away from free time to explore city castle and cathedral. Should include narration in buda and less in pest. Overall. Great day filled with interesting site. Tour guide played Vienna video with dancing and singing on way back. Very relaxing

Enjoyable day

rosalina_d, Sep 2024
It was a long day but I did enjoy the day trip. Thank you to Claudia our tour guide. She is nice and accommodating. And thank you to our driver that day (sorry can’t remember his name) for taking good care of us. You both job well done.

Trip to budapest

andrew_b, Sep 2024
Was great experience. The tour guide was very helpful and shared a lot of knowledge. It was fun experience.

Interesting but not enough time

Neil_P, Jul 2024
The trip was very well organised so no complaints about the operator or the tour guides. However, a day trip to Budapest does not allow enough time to give this wonderful city justice. With only 2 hours free time, this was not really enough time to do anything.

Spent too much time on the bus

MaVictoria_M, Jul 2024
We spend most of the time in the bus. I booked an english tour but was not advise it was going to be both english and spanish. The walking tour was only short. We were inside the bus sitting and passing by important sites. The was a few stops for photo op but otherwise boring. I think it would be best to stay in Budapest rather than taking this tour.

Highly recommended.

DRMUHAMMADK_Q, Jul 2024
Weather was good. Good walking and coach tour of Budapest. Plenty of time to walk around the city centre. Stops during the travelling to freshen up. Well organised.

Great trip!

Jared_K, Jun 2024
It’s a long day and totally worth it. Lots of history and free time to roam around Budapest. Tour guides and driver were fabulous. Really enjoyed the trip and would recommend everyone to experience it.

Worth a days trip

Nisha_J, Jun 2024
Everything! The guide was good. The drive was also good . The weather was very good. The free time was appropriate

Awesome!

RobinTutchton, May 2024
Awesome! Super great way to get a nice taste of Budapest and everyone was super nice and informative

Beautiful sites to see

Cathy_W, May 2024
There is so much to see. Unfortunately it poured rain when we were doing most of the walking and free time. We were given a lot of time to shop, eat and site see

Great option for getting yourself to Budapest

Lisa_L, Apr 2024
This was a great trip and the transportation was very reliable. I would recommend it if you just want to get to Budapest for the day Claudia was our tour guide for the most part on the bus she provided commentary as we drove from Vienna to Budapest. In Budapest, we had a different guide who joined the bus while we went on a quick tour of the city focused on highlights and then that person gave us a very quick walking tour and some good wreck restaurant recommendations. The only downside was on the way home. We didn’t even make a stop and yet it took a really long time to get home.

Great Way to Spend a Day!

maryEllen_C, Apr 2024
Very well organized trip to see Budapest. It is a long day, but the bus was comfortable and the information from our leader made the time go by. Budapest is lovely and well worth your time as a day trip from Vienna. Mary Ellen

Magical

Jaymar_Y, Apr 2024
The staff and the driver are marvelous. We booked this day trip from Vienna to Budapest. The place was amazing, magical and we were actually planning on coming back to Budapest to explore the city more. Eva and Flo (the driver) were so good of the service the provided. The amoint of money we paid is all worth it.

Back to Budapest After 40 Years

Mary_E, Mar 2024
I had made a number of visits to Budapest in the 1980s and had not been back since the fall of the iron curtain. Just being back to see the economic vitality of the city and enjoy crossing the Chain Bridge on foot was memorable.

Amazing Budapest!

Maria_M, Dec 2023
Truly wonderful experience. You could not ask for more in a day trip. The rich history and beauty of the city captures the imagination. I would certainly take this trip again as there is so much more to discover.

Beautiful City - Language Frustrations

srb42885, Dec 2023
The time in Budapest was good - we were really able to make the most of our free time. Unfortunately, the bus tour is not the best as you do not get good views as you drive by (some sights couldn’t be seen from my side of the bus and vice versa). However, the hardest part was that the tour was going back and forth in English and Spanish so by the time you were told about something, you had already missed the site. The tour was good for orienting us though so we could go back and see what we thought was most important.
