Itinerary
After night falls on this atmospheric city, meet up with your guide near the famous Rialto Bridge. From there, journey through a labyrinth of narrow streets and deserted squares as your guide recounts tales of Venice’s dark history. From the sacred to the profane, learn about the noble-blooded ghosts that wander the city’s grand palaces and the medieval child-killer Biasio, who was said to chop up little limbs and add them to his stews.
Stop by the beautiful Bovolo staircase—an architecturally impressive structure that conceals strange secrets in its spiraling stone archways. Learn about ancient cemeteries buried beneath the cobblestone streets and ponder the legends of fearsome sea creatures lurking in Venetian canals.
Step down to a secret passageway where forbidden lovers once met by torchlight (water levels permitting). Finally, let your imagination run wild in the shadowy Calle dei Assassini, once a popular haunt for hardened criminals and murderers and the site of many dark deeds.
Your guide leads you back to the Rialto Bridge area. From there, you are free to continue roaming the shadowy city on your own—if you dare!

We went on July 23 at 7 pm, I can’t remember the name of our guide but she was amazing. She was Venetian and knew the history of her city so well and she was an amazing story teller. I was hesitant to book because some reviews I saw, but our guide was incredible. Would even do the tour again. Thanks.

Thank you for your email - it would be helpful for us if you could supplye the date you toured. We work with a team of selected guides and generally all perform quite well with this tour. They all have been trained for the ghost and legends tour. Without a name though it is hard to see when you toured - certainly not recently as we had all men tourguides doing the tour.

None of the stories included any ghosts or was scary at all. Everything was about energies and the content was very weak and lacked depth.

Probably your expectation was to have a tour like the ones you can find in northern europe where you go in cemeteries and underground - This is a tour about legends , anecdocted and ghost "stories " - when you say that everything was about energy, aren't ghosts pure energy ? I understand your expectations was for having a kind of acting ghost walk , but this is not that type of tour.

The tour showed us some great hidden gems of Venice, but didn’t really lean in to the ghost stories. We were told very small pieces of stories but nothing beyond “there was someone who died” and then moved on to the next stop. Our tour guide did her best at managing the group in the rain, but didn’t make sure that the entire group could see the locations she was talking about. It definitely left us wishing we had booked something different.

It is completely different from ghost tours in northern countries. This said, I understand probably yesterday the weather was not very good and maybe this also spoiled the whole experience. Yesterday our official ghost guide was sick and on a last minute basis the tour was operated by another guide that does anyhow many ghost tours of Venice. We take into consideration all feedbacks, positive and negative ones as our main goal is to have happy clients and therefore I will make good use of your comment in order to verify the quality performance of yesterday guide for this type of tour.

Overall this tour was just okay. The guide was very nice and engaging, and clearly knowledgeable. However, of the 90 min, we probably spent around 50-60 walking between points. None of the tales were particularly spooky, if that’s what you’re after. Additionally, I do not recommend going on a weekend evening. The crowds made it impossible to hear at times, as some of the chosen locations are in the most populous tourist areas (like st marks & Rialto bridge).

Our tour guide Christina was enthusiastic. The tour felt a little disorganized (some of which was unavoidable as the high tides meant flooding in areas of the city which we had to work around) but we felt like the stories didn’t match many of the areas we walked on the tour and some were not detailed or even scary. It was an ok experience.

Tour guide was funny and eccentric and tried her best to get the group involved. Some of the stories were good, but the tour guide wasn’t a natural born story teller, so it was hard to understand the point or the climax of some of the stories. Plus, for a city that has such an eerie atmosphere, especially at night, there aren’t actually that many creepy ghost stories or legends. The tour felt padded out with generic history as opposed to the macabre.

It was a nice to see some of the hidden streets and alleyways of Venice at night. Tour guide was hard to hear most of the time due to the business of the city. Tour was a bit chaotic getting going due to people being late and group not staying together.

Our tour felt very uninspired. Christina was nice but didn’t have many stories and the places we walked during the tour were often not very interesting back alleys. Most of the stories were not connected to the places we walked. I saw much more interesting stories in a book at our apartment and could probably have led a better tour for our group. Hopefully the company will dig a little deeper into Venetian lore and develop a better tour.

What I can think of is that probably Cristina that day was not in perfect shape, as all our guides doing this tour follow the same route and are well versed on this tour, that we operate quite a few times a week. The itinerary and the content of the tour has been put together after much research on the sites to cover and the legends anecdocts and ghost stories related to the sites.

The guide seemed nice but we couldn’t hear for the first half of the tour. There were 22 people and it was a packed night in the squares of Venice, and a guide without the typical ear radios of every other tour. DEFINITELY need radios so the guide can walk and talk. Too much walking without any explanations from guide, which would have been solved by the earpieces.

This was an incredible trip in the right amount of time, in the cooler evening with a fair amount of walking. Sergio was an incredible guide who knew the stories behind the city. The information gained and opportunities to hear spooky tales were a great addition to walking around the city earlier in the day and the next day.

We had a really enjoyable private tour with our fantastic and very knowledgeable guide, Christina. It was great seeing the narrow Venice alleyways in the evening with very few other people around, and leaning about some of the history of Venice. We didn't encounter any ghosts but two or three of the stops were decidedly spooky and not places that we would have wanted to be on our own having heard Christina's stories!

We've been operating this tour for many years and although sometimes expectations are for ghost tours similar to what they are in northern countries, this tour generally meets the appreciation of our clientele as it is a mixuture of Ghost and Legends stories while walking in the back streets of Venice in late afternoon, when crowds have left and athmosphere is more magical.
