Itinerary

Meet your guide at the prearranged time in central Venice. Depending on your preferences, your itinerary may include a walking tour of historic churches, markets, hidden squares and opulent palaces. Whether you’re interested in architecture, Renaissance art or food and wine, your guide will design a tour that’s just for you and share fascinating information about the history and culture of Venice along the way.

For example, some popular spots to tour around St Mark’s Square include the Santa Maria Formossa Church and the Rialto Fish Market, where Venetians head to purchase the freshest catch of the day. With all tours, stop in at a traditional wine bar for a drink and cicchetti — the Venetian version of bar snacks.

Please note: Your tour will include visits to the exterior of buildings only. St Mark’s Square, St Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace cannot be visited on this tour. Churches may also be inaccessible on Sunday mornings when religious ceremonies are taking place.

Usually the hostess accompanies tourists along unknown parts of the city sharing stories
San Marco square, Ducal Palace and the Basilica can not be visited on this tour
Your tour guide cannot accompany you into any church or historical buildings
On Sunday mornings it is not possible to enter any of the visited churches due to religious functions taking place. Rialto Market is closed every Sunday and Monday. These closures are beyond our control so no refunds or discounts will be issued

Needs Substance!

Our tour guide provided good information about the sights, sharing personal stories like where she grew up, her school, her best friend’s home, and other local details. However, it wasn’t quite what we expected—for the amount of money paid, the tour didn’t deliver the depth we hoped for. Advertised as about 3 hours, we finished in just 2, and it needed a bit more to feel complete.

We saw some nice architecture and got a bit of nomenclature re: the streets. The guide was not very talkative although she did answer some questions for us. The review that mentioned the guide who pointed out her house and neighborhood must have had our guide. Not very interesting.

I loved our guide, Elisa. She showed us around some of the neighborhoods in Venice , as she grew up here. I was expecting to see other areas perhaps more “ touristy” but did not see them. We were disappointed… She told us she was not authorized to tour certain areas, & monuments???? St. Mark’s square was not allowed!! She was knowledgeable & we liked her but for the cost we did not get what we anticipated.

DO NOT BOOK. Blown off with no communication, incorrect meeting instructions.

What a frustrating day. We did not get any prior communications via email, What's App, or text from the Tour company (unlike most other private tours), which should have been a warning sign. We got a little lost and had difficulties finding the meeting point in front of the travel agency since there was almost no signage. I tried calling the phone # on the reservation but nobody answered. We were about 20 minutes late. Nobody was there to meet us when we arrived, so we went into the Travel Agency that runs the tour. We were told there that the Viator meeting place instructions were incorrect, and to walk to the Royal Gardens by Piazza San Marco. When we got there, we were told that the original meeting place by the travel agency was correct, but now it was too late and we were considered no-shows. We were told that we would be refunded due to the incorrect instructions, but over a week later there has been no refund. Now if this was a group tour and we were late, I would understand. But for a PRIVATE tour to not make any attempt to contact us before the tour, or at the tour time since we weren't there is completely unacceptable and unlike any other tours we have ever booked. And then to be told to walked across the island to a different meeting place incorrectly was extra frustrating, especially when we were told we would get a refund which has not happened. Book at your own risk.

I absolutely loved this tour. Our guide was with Elisa and she did a great job walking us through the streets of Venice and showing us what it's like living there. It is not a traditional tour of museums or the most famous parts of Venice, but I loved that. I loved listening to Elisa's stories of her growing up on the island. She is full of so much information and insight. The only disappointment was that the tour states it is 3 hours, and we only had our guide for 2 hours.

This was a horrible experience and waste of time for our family. Our tour guide completely disreguarded our expectations and needs. In exchange, she ran us through the city pointing out areas that were important to her....these included the home she grew up in, her best friends home, her school and the area she had recess in. We only had 2 days in venice and wanted to see as much of the major sites as possible. We finally told the tour guide we did not wish to continue and aborted the experience at about the 2 hour mark.

Wonderful insight into Venice

Our guide, Barbara, gave us a wonderful insight into the history and culture of Venice. We learnt so much in a short time. She took us away from the crowded areas into fascinating little back streets. We had a lovely time with her. The tour company was also very good to deal with when we were late. One tip: if you are coming to their office by Vaporetto, the closest stop is Rialto.

This was such a wonderful experience. This was our fourth trip to Venice and also the best tour we have taken. It was our sister-in-laws first time and the tour guide managed to make it fascinating for all of us. Luda is a local guide, born and raised here. She took us to some back ways gems that I have never seen before. Her knowledge of history and her pride at being a Venetian is evident. She was very kind to share her experiences of growing up in Venice. I definitely recommend this tour and if all possible ask for Luda. She is so charming

We loved our guide, Francesca. She was knowledgeable, very animated/passionate about her city of Venice. We learned a lot about the city. Enjoyed the stop at a local bar for appetizers (do not remember the Italian word for small plates). The only negative and this had nothing to do with our guide. A headset and earphones would be helpful even though there were only 4 of us. There were so many people and some of her words got lost in the noises around us.

Venice was a fun city, glad we did the tour. However, there are a few things I would change. We had to meet to start the tour at the travel agency office, which was VERY difficult to find. We ended up calling them to get a land marker and finally found it. But why not meet at a common central landmark. Our tour guide was very old we're in our late 40's, opinionated and didn't really try to connect with us. She was very knowledgable about Venice and the history of Venice, but wasn't interested in us or sharing anything other than historical facts. The tour included 1 glass of wine and one small local snack. We understood this to be a 3 hour tour but she ended at about 2.5 hours, maybe due to the fact that it was so HOT.

Asked our guide, Barbara, to show us hidden Venice and had a fascinating walk around the back streets learning about the city and the people. We went at our own pace stopping off for coffee when tired rather than being rushed from place to place. Highly informative and amusing. We all agreed that on future city visits we would book a guided tour to help acquaint ourselves with our surroundings.

Grace is from Venice. She is knows a tremendous amount of history and stories about the region and its relationship to other countries and cultures throughout time. She is also a very helpful and kind person. Grace's tour provided my wife and me with the perfect start and an excellent overview of Venice ranging from history and locations and the development of this beautiful city. While expensive, a tour with Grace was well, well worth it -- especially at the start of our visit -- so we could better understand the significance of what we saw and experienced for the rest of our stay in this spectacular and wondrous place. The guide was lovely but the tour itself wasn't especially interesting-something you could easily do yourself. The tour did not really add much to your inside knowledge of Venice which is why you go on these sort of tours. It felt there was so much of Venice that we didn't discover, especially the historic sites.
